  1. I wait with great curiosity to see how we tactically use our sub. It’s a move all coaches have to make each and every match now, and without it being forced by injury I fear Goodwin will be easy to read with it. 3/4 time, give a fresh player a quarter to impact. my first guess is chandler or melksham will be given this spot, with a tall (either BB or JVR) given the last quarter off. I really hope the coaching department has put considerable time into the strategy and purpose they’d like it used for to gain the largest benefit. Also, Salem is best 22. And with our depth only getting stronger Casey is going to monster teams all year long. Scary to think if melbourne were to leave harmes or jordon out of the seniors what they would do at Casey.
  2. No harm in Tmac doing extras with a trainer and getting full confidence in his movement. Was a shock to hear that the screws snapped in that incident in the final (vfl) without any damage to the bones. Whilst I love our full list, the selection squeeze is going to be brutal in 2023. Hoping everyone embraces it and we crush teams at both levels all year long
  3. Just bumping this because of how much I’m loving grundys instagram engagement. He’s always quick to give a teammate a pat on the back or pump up. From my cheap seats reading his comments, it always appears perfectly genuine and very aligned with the good team ethos we hope for. The itch to see his cohesion with clarry at stoppage and petracca in general play is starting to overwhelm me. Bring on round one!
  4. Sorry only skimmed this thread. Did May get moved to the veterans list?
  5. The death ride on freo for me this year is dreaming of landing Cal Twomeys hyped man of next years draft Nick ‘the wizard’ Watson. I’m hoping based on his position alone he falls to around 8-10. On thread topic, I rate jordon (as I believe the coaching staff also do) highly. Was given Brayshaws wing when things shifted about early season, and held it for most the year, well enough to poll good votes in the bluey. Also started his afl career well on the inside laying very solid tackles and contributing. Feel he deserves to be listed (although not right up the list) on the small/medium backs too, and probably the same for forwards (kicked 7 this year from limited opportunities up there). As a recently turned 23 year old who suffered awful setbacks early on he’s come on since as a coaches dream, slotting into roles and providing the team with plenty. Yep, I definitely rate him. As much as I love harmesy, I’d favour jordon over him in any position
  6. branching out from the selections above (all of which are high on my list too): clarrys maiden Brownlow. a couple rising star noms another fritta 50+
  7. Spargo is always referred to by his height but I feel he doesn’t play to that type (other than using his lower centre of gravity to his advantage to evade as all his size do). I feel he’s in the same mould as jay Kennedy Harris from yesteryear and if spargo like him was pressed to play that first small roving forward role too he’d be found wanting the same way as JKH was. Hunter in form enough to be in the 22 definitely pressures spargo place. As will the emergence of anyone else capable of bringing a point of difference to the hff (seston, Howes, etc)
  8. Jackson was very will he won’t he. The words out of the club seemed fashioned so that they were hopeful more than anything. Jackson will be remembered by dees fans as a premiership player but a decade from now he will be known only as a freo player. I never want kossie to be anything other than ours. I’d be gutted to see him tear it up for another club. He’s a champ and I hope he gets some good security in his next contract reflecting his value. In the Jason Taylor interviews he seemed supremely confident of pickets signature coming. Would be nice to get it done early enough. I still remember the media beating up Cyril being worth a million in his hey day before he signed. Best to get ahead of that circus
  9. And that’s the hair all his maiden brownlow memorabilia will show too. Do you hold out and wait to buy the stuff for his second Charlie instead? (As an aside, I love his hair. He deserves to be identifiable. If you were showing the game to anyone just getting into afl, being able to pick clarry out helps)
  10. A little side one, if Roarke smith isn’t in the ones, he’d make a great lock down back pocket. Not Salem like with his kicking by a long way, but hard at it and very capable of winning his contests and holding structure. Out of contract at end of year.
  11. If jones is as fit as they think (decent length contract for someone his age) then they’ll be in much better shape. I feel the height in their forward line is very dangerous. Lobb releasing naughton to get less attention, possibly even 1 on 1s is a huge threat. Love watching him play, just wished his jumper didn’t have any white on it
  12. Listening back again to this quality pod and speculating about the software JT mentioned. Wondering, given the depletion of scouts due to soft cap squeezes, how many clubs have access to purchase this same footage and whether cost is a way around the cap
  13. Logue was lured with the promise of playing as a key defender. Wouldn’t expect him to be seen forward (unless you expect this to be like howe to Collingwood) also clearly you don’t rate xerri as high as they do, opting for a 34 yo Goldstein to play one out, and xerri to not even make the field in the second team.
  14. Jefferson looking like he’d struggle to reach the top shelf in the pantry in this pic
  15. Here here, the sooner we end the unnecessary add ons to boast our knowledge of a person, the sooner those who ponder it’s relevance to the conversation will cease. All for any person celebrating their own heritage, and when their story is being told to inject it with all the colour that describes it. But when it’s interjected into every comment (like pendleburys basketball background) it’s needless filler. off topic, love that clarry can tie his hair up. +5 visibility, just engrave his Brownlow now
  16. With may and Tomlinson being 30 and 29 respectively, happy the club has added to its depth with Jed and is looking at another. If young keys are decent but end up surplus to needs they’re at least a very tradable commodity
  17. Think that’s the last of the ‘wow we can’t believe he slipped through to us’ names I was hoping for. Into the ‘in JT we trust’ names now
  18. Not that it’s for any comparison, but JVR managed 36 goals in his maiden (flag winning) VFL season. I would expect a very competitive Casey to provide similar supply next year. No weed and no Mitch brown. given jeffers is labelled a finisher, what’s a good pass mark goal wise for a solid vfl season? (2022 frosty miller was won with 52)
  19. Well definitely holding on to at least one first rounder next year now. Overnight to consider whether a first round pick is value for George, Cowan, Barnett etc
  20. Wow hawks surely swooping on allan
  21. Good to have the option. Hope Melbourne are working the phones trying to get the other pick for Allan and take Jefferson here
  22. Nice bid bulldogs! Happy the lions have to pay up for fletcher, got away with Ashcroft going 2
  23. They planned, they tried, wasn’t to be. Not surprising given it was Essendon. Bailey Humphreys admitted he was the target. Seems a good kid. Best of luck to him.
  24. What I glean from all the trenners and Toumpas talk and memories is that hope and investment in a high pick can go sour pretty quickly with injury. Both looked excellent propositions and it seemed like their bodies (and subsequent recovery which the club couldn’t help them achieve) that let them down. On topic, very happy the club is floating prospective offers into the ether to see what’s possible and while the demons have so much in hand right now, why not test all waters available. Can’t wait to see tonight what they’ve managed to orchestrate after creating enough noise to shake out some deals. If after everything’s talked out we take our picks I’ll be content that the recruiting team assessed options and saw this best. personally I lean towards the hope of parting with no more than one future pick (ours not freos, I want to death ride them just for the fun) for either gws or Sydney’s first and steal a gun. George, Barnett, Cowan. A sliding busslinger would be great for the future too, although can’t see teams trading out of that.
  25. It would be poor planning to trade for the pick just to see what we can trade it to someone else for. Gws surely won’t trade it hastily on the first night when they have time overnight to field offers. Would suggest a future 1st and 37 for 19 and a return future 2nd is fairly equitable, whether that tickles gws the right way is the unknown. Sliding back from pick 16-19ish (pretty sure Gold Coast academy players are good enough to get bids early) to mid to late 20’s isn’t that severe a drop personally, I think lachie Cowan is a potentially great half back driver and will be available at 19. (every time I try think what we need I remember we have a Gus Brayshaw that plays so well everywhere. Great list build already)
