  1. Well founded logic! All the comments here are opinions like yours below. Do you have a source to say we are going to the draft with that pick to get a youngester "Rd 1 pick 2018 would be 3+ years away before making a significant impact on out flag aspirations" ?
  2. Why do we go on about it, well its the same reason we all post on here. Its to put an opinion forward as do the pro 'Lever trade deal posters' that think we paid fair value. PS. Round 1 pick next year would be traded for an established player not a youngster. Many have missed this point.
  3. Chazz not sure why he needs to get over anything. Some dislike when other disagree and start to imply things about that other person personality as a consequence. He has made a fair point that we paid overs and you are essentially agreeing with him given your analogy. So there is no disagreement
  4. You nailed it ! No one is saying they don't want Lever so espousing his attributes is just appealing to the masses.
  5. Sounds like it might come from within the club. The current 2IC or someone they will get in to be the 2IC next year and step up after that is my guess
  6. I guess we are all just lucky to have you ...
  7. What they had is super stars of the game and where a destination club. We have neither of these so not apples for apple as they say. We play finals and a few others emerge like Oliver and that may change but it hasn't yet
  8. Watts deal was fine, picks 31 will do as there was only 1 suitor and I am happy to clear some salary cap space for the talented but also committed youngsters we have on our list. Jordan Lewis question was idiotic. 3rd in the B&F and helped us when Viney and Jones were missing. Lever on the other hand. Should we be surprised that PJ agrees with the list mgmt team? Of course not. Points system is a guide at best. Perceived market value isn't the only consideration in a negotiation anyway. In negotiations you assess weaknesses in the other party's hand and also where you can find middle ground. The weakness in Adelaide's hand were significant as he was an uncontracted players who was willing to go into the draft and put a price on his head to get to MFC. The points system doesn't account for that and lots of other things. And no Lever was never going to nominate an alternative team is we held our nerve - no player I can recall has ever buckled like that other than Mitch Clarke when he changed from Freo to Melb. I'm still happy we got Lever but we should have got him for a little less as it may bite us a iittle next year when we haven't got a 1st rounder to trade for an established player to fill any holes that emerge through form or injury
  9. Ball comes out to Petruccelle who twists and turns before handing it off to Petracca who then snaps over his left shoulder for a sausage roll ... yep flows nicely, lets lock him in with pick 29
  10. More annoyed with the insipid end to the year than player movement. Dont get me started on that ...
  11. This is pointless if you are going to flip things all the time ... over it
  12. You said I could quote you. Don't think I need to answer that one.
  13. You seem a little defensive / sensitive to criticism of the club on this occasion AF - its not a pot shot its debating. Industry thinks we paid overs and we did. Would love SOS doing the negotiations for us with Taylor and co doing the scouting and selecting of the players
  14. Don't disagree but what has that got to do the current trade period and who did most with what they had?
  15. Yep, they are the clear winners. Carlton has done well getting quality picks in for the rebuild, SOS and Dodoro play hard ball and it shows in their results. Lessons to be learnt for next time for MFC
  16. Mitch Clarke is the only player I can recall doing an about face like that to join us ... rest my case
  17. The Suns have sent the Eagles picks No.21, No.26 and No.37, and in return received the Eagles' 2018 first-round pick and this year's No.50 selection.
  18. Suns just traded into 1st round. Looks like we missed our chance
  19. Prefer you don't put words in my mouth. My comments are very measured. Mahoney has done an outstanding job with others to rebuild our list. Am critical of the Lever deal only. We made a rare 'trade' mistake which cost us a 1st rounder. Off to talk about something else.
  20. Absolute footy head. Expect he will climb the coaching ladder very very quickly
  21. Totally on the money KDA. They received an unexpected bounty and were happy to let it go because they know Carlton are hard nosed
  22. You asked how the Gibbs trade was going for Carlton as you indicated being hard nosed doesn't work. Now that it has been an overwhelming success for Carlton you try and flip it the other way ... hypocritical and convenient
  23. Gibbs contracted (SOS expect extra value) Lever was uncontracted ... should have held firm like Carlton did and they have shown they would buckle
  24. Your recent observations appeal to masses but are simplistic jnrmac
  25. Carlton is doing just fine I'd say having started their list rebuild after us. Thanks for reinforcing my point - Carlton just held firm on Gibbs (29 yrs old next year) and guess what Adelaide buckled and paid ridiculous overs. That's what you get for being hard nosed: Under the deal: - Carlton received pick Nos.10, 16, and 73 in this year's draft and the Crows' 2018 second-round pick. - Adelaide received Gibbs, No.77 and Carlton's 2018 second-round and third-round picks.
