  1. Agreed. Hawkins had an absolute mare of a last quarter goal kicking wise. Could have iced the game on a few occations, but failed to do so. Admittedly I only saw the last quarter or so, but thought it was more a case of Geelong loosing it and Sydney lucky to be in the game due to some good goal kicking, so I'm unconvinced that they represent as big a threat to us, but probably not as easy a win that it was starting to look like with the Swans on the slide either. No doubt if we do win, the media will still be like "Melbourne haven't really beaten anyone yet".
  2. I have to admit that I've got a bit of latent MFCSS about this double header block busters. Last season we were just stating to get up and about and then came up against Brisbane and Port in big games/tests in subsequent weeks, lost both games and became a bit of a dislocation to our season. I think our team is performing much better right now and I really do hope we put on a good show in front of the football world this time.
  3. Love this part of his game. That he mixes it up in a bit of a scuffle and then jogs away with a huge grin on his white pasty face and boofy head of red hair ensure he gets right under the skin of opposition supporters. A joy to watch.
  4. I honestly don't know what has happened to his goal kicking this year. Over his career he has been pretty decient in front of the sticks, but this season he actually looks worse and less likely to nail a goal than Max. Hope he is just saving up his accuracy for if/when we need that set short after the siren to win the game, I just hope that's not a grand final or something - that would send my blood pressure through the roof. Agree with others regarding his goal assists and score involvements. That play where he combined with Spargo to win possession and then flicked the perfectly placed handball to Jackson out the back around the corner was typical Clarry, making the dificult look easy and results in a goal that otherwise might not have been in the hands of another player. Sure there were probably other great little handball gives out of congestion deep forward that he instigated as well, but that one to Jackson was peak Clarry.
  5. Preuss wishes he has a profile. . P.S. I quite liked the big PREUUUUUS. Also hope he gets a break with injuries and gets out on the park, although I'd also worry that GWS are starting to look pretty good as a side again, so perhaps he can take his time a bit too.
  6. Partially agree, but finishing to 2 also means a guaranteed home final which does have some value associated with it. Absolutely pinching myself about the position we are presently in. Normally at this point in the season I'm looking ahead in the fixture to see who plays who and who we can beat just to edge ourselves into the top 8 after a horror or mediocre start to the season. Right now that's all kind of irrelevant and it's about which are the few sides that are on papper and form good enough to push us and present as genuine danger games. That might sound kind of arrogant, but to me it's a reflection of the tallent we have been building and the attitude and cohesion which we are presently playing with, which has finally come together. The maturity with which the team is playing, I really don't feel like there is much risk of us being beaten by poor or mediocre sides. It's a nice place to be, but pretty unfamiliar territory I must say. Maybe this is what it feels like to support a team that's actually a strong and well coached like supporters of some opposition teams must have felt like in the past.
  7. Think they said at the end of their last show that they would be fortnightly, not weekly. Another hot social media tips from Tommy Bugg again I think.
  8. Oooooooooozzzz
  9. I personally think we could and should manage/rest Jacko and possibly T Mac/BBB at some stage this year, so Weid will get his chance at AFL level.
  10. BBB are averaging about the same this season. Weid hardly got near it in his first game back apparently. He's kicked 0, 7 and 3 goals in his outings so far this year hasn't he?
  11. Here it is. Don't know where the above graphic comes from, but it's gold!
  12. You need to check out the talking Ben segment or whatever it was. He's a pretty smart cookie the old BBB. Think he did some kind of media studies, a batchelor of arts or something.
  13. I recon it was because he was so bloody good and North kept beating us that spawned any dislike for BBB on my behalf. How things change. ...now just get the job done boys.
  14. I think BBB was one of the prime target of players that need a haircut thread. But just like Dogga, Hunt and Linngers, if he performs well for the MFC, he can have his hair however the [censored] he likes!
  15. When we first recruited big Ben Brown, I showed my 5yo son the video highlights of him kicking all the goals for North and he instantly became his favorite MFC player. So much so, that when I bought my son a new MFC jumper the other week, he wanted the No.50 on the back, which he has hardly taken off since I bought it for him, without BBB even playing a senior game for the mighty Demons. Little guy will be absolutely stoked to watch him run out for us on Sunday as I will too. We've been pretty good even without an elite FF this season and I'm hoping that with BBB about to step in an dominate the forward 50 arc, that will take us to the next level again. Looking forward to those go go gadget arms marking everything in sight and the big fella slotting through some big bags of goals for the MFC over the next few seasons. ...might even be a few more MFC No.50 jumpers running around out there over the next few years.
  16. Agreed, which is why it's peed me off with the media constantly asking " Are Melbourne the real deal?" all freaking season. It's been a long build, the quality is there in the core group and they have now played together for a number of years building cohesion, so why should it come as any surprise? Port Adelaide have also had a similar trajectory to us. Ken Hinkly has no doubt been under pressure at times, but I don't think there is much question that he is the guy pulling it all together.
  17. Riewldt (whatever his name is?) is such a total [censored]. Even if that's what he told Kossie on the field, no need to go big noting himself like some high and mighty on Slobbo's show about the issue. Should have stayed on the field. Whatever genuine benifit there might have been by this 'elder statesman' type advice on the field was just undone by his somewhat belittling blabbing in the media.
  18. Hi, my name's Kate, I have a business background and grew up loving the Demons. Robbie Flower was my favorite player, but I also use to love watching Rod Grinter go about his craft on the MCG on a Saturday afternoon during the late 80s and 90s. Did I mention my dad was a dentist? ... I'm sure there's more to it than that and I agree by the way. You would actually think she and the board would want to be doing something to promote her profile and let the members get to know her, since she will need to be elected sooner or later, come the time.
  19. Maturity and consistentcy I'd say are a big part of it. ANB has often showed glimpses of good form in the past, only to disapoint with a lack of performance the next week. Someone also said belief and I think that is also a part of it as it is for all of the team at the moment. I also think it has two aspects: 1. Belief in themselves as individuals, that if the stuff something up, they have the confidence and self belief to put that behind them and move onto the next contest/oppertunity; 2. Belief in the team system. I know it sounds like a bit of a clechè, but by buying in and having confidence in doing the team thing that the teams performance benifits, reflects on them and boosts their performance as individuals within that team off the back of the pressure and team efforts gifted to them by their fellow team mates. When you look at premiership sides, they aren't totally chock full of all the best talent in the competition. It's why I'd prefer goers like ANB, Hunt, Spargo, T Mac and Tomlinson over some of the primadonna's going around like Elliot, DeGoey, Lynch etc.
  20. Agree. BBB at his top is an absolute gun and I have little doubt he would make our side better. He's had 2.5 full games under his belt now, so should be cherry ripe, match fit. I know we don't want to mess with form, interupt a winning side, underrate our opposition etc, but I also don't think we will have a better oppertunity to introduce him into the team than the run of teams we have over the next four weeks. Wouldn't be ideal to be finding his feet in the Bulldogs game. We didn't pick him up to be kicking bags of goals for Casey, so I say get him in. I really do struggle a bit to know who to drop for him though. Perhaps if we have someone playing with an injury which could do with some rest, this could be the perfect oppertunity to manage them, to help us sustain a healthy, fit list throught the whole season. It's the kind of luxury that being 6 - 0 affords, so I really think we need to take advantage of that. Now that we've got off to such a great start, I do have a niggling fear that we are peaking too early and could fall in a heap come the pointy end of the season - how's that for a new take on MFCSS that I never saw comming!!
  21. That's the one I thought may have been refered to and I agree I wouldn't say it's a squib either.
  22. I think I recall the moment - in the third quarter perhaps. But the one I'm thinking of there was ANB and 3 other blokes that could have gone for it - another Melbourne player and two Richmond blokes. More a case of miscommunication and misunderstanding between team mates I think. If they had both flown and spoiled each other, I'm sure we could have criticized that too. Even if he squibs every now and then, it isn't a huge trend in my view and in this day and age, players need to think something about self presevation. Remember reading an article written by Brandon Jack of Sydney earlier this year and the extents he would hype himself into to commit to every ball and now has issues with concussion.
  23. This form from Nibbler has been on the build for a while really. Thought his first game back of the 2020 restart was pretty decient and then he got dropped (or was it suspended). His final 2020 H&A game against Essendon was pretty good as well, as was Spargo's. Asides from the hard running and tackling, I think the other real stand-out feature of Nibblers game at the moment is is distribution by foot and delivery inside 50 in particular. Similar could be said about Spargo, only that ANB has been getting amongst the goals a bit to cap it off, but I think Spargo will have a day out in that regards and nail a few sausage rolls as well. Glad to see these guys like ANB, Spargo, Hunt and T Mac have persevered and fought back to find some form again, when they could have almost been on the MFC scrap heap. Shows real character I recon.
