  1. Dogga, Spargo, Kossie, Bowey - there's some decent tallent on that bench they named.
  2. When I started following footy back around 1986, I chose to support Melbourne, a once great, and powerful club that had dominated the AFL for an era. At that time it had been around 22 years since our last flag and we still haven't won one since. It's been close to 22 years for Essendon now and Carlton must have had nearly as poor a record from 2000 as we did during the 70s and early 80s. It gives me hope that these clubs could one day go as long as we have without tasting the ultimate sucess again. Of course, we still have to nail one in the next few years and there are certainly no gaurentees, but it feels so close, you can almost touch it.
  3. For a bloke that I suspect costs us SFA with respects to salary cap and trade capital, I think Smith was more than serviceable today. Actually thought his first half in particular was excellent. Petty was fairly average in his first few senior games this season, but plenty of posters were willing to give him a 'hall pass'. The oppertunity having Smith around to give Maysy a much needed break was invaluable and I don't think such depth should be under sold.
  4. Actually wondering if there is a catch 22 here for North and Hawthorn. Forgetting about the Tassie govenments threats to cut off AFL from the state in the intermediate period, if Tassie were to actually get a team longer term, I'd presume they would no longer sponsor North and Hawthorn huge sums to play down there. So where does that leave North's finacial viability in particular. Not going to be easy to replace that sponsorship money, particularly within a diluted sponsorship pool from a 19th team. Do North end up completing for the NT govs money to play there? North talk the bravado about being financially sound going forward, but I do still wounder about that.
  5. Got to say, at this point, I'm a fan of how the club has done a Claytons job at managing Hibbo and Jimmy Jordon. I think it should work out almost perfectly. In particular, it should be good to have Hibbo cheery rip for finals and blooding Bowey looks set to pay dividends with Hunty missing for a reasonable period. All the above particularly since they are talking above removing the pre finals bye.
  6. Like playing on to advantage and/or any other time the umpire calls a free kick in general play.
  7. Fawning over Dusty now. If Richmond struggle again next year, Dusty will get found out and just look like a hungry selfish has-been.
  8. Still ten minutes left. It could happen.
  9. This is soo un Richmond like.
  10. Here goes Lynch getting himself into the game. ...poster. Dam shame that.
  11. Tell em they're dreaming. We arn't going to fall for that [censored] again. Plus, it will be like 2018 in reverse. They are hitting a purple patch right now, but are having to throw everything they have at it just to make it and I'm tipping they will fall in a heap sooner or later.
  12. It's all cool here. Just a bit of drunk posting. Tried to correct a spelling mistake and ended up quoting myself 🤪
  13. You know, these sound engineers hace created the best crowd support the Giants have ever had. Stands look true to form for the Sydney Showgrounds though.
  14. Yeah, but thinking about it, there are probably a bunch of rules like that. Players just need to play conservatively and let the player run around until they are sure they hear the play on call. Lets more playera get that extra few yards on the kick and lengthen the ground. On ballance, I like the rule and I don't think it's that different from how the game was played back in the day. The other thing I think I have noticed is that I generally think it has stopped the man on the mark from holding on to the player with the kick for ages in an attempt to hold them up and stop them playing on, because they can just play on anyways. Unless the players are on the ground, then the umpires seem to have infinite patience towards the player clumsily holding up the play, without paying 50m, which I actually find total BS, regardless of the team.
  15. Try it again, until Ninethmond are back in their rightful place please!
  16. You of the cheep seats bingers! Lol
  17. Can you make a brown and gold version of this? No hawk on it, I want to see something that Don Scott would want to rip apart!
  18. I just hope the Tassie govenment arn't bluffing and it costs Hawthorn their major sponsor. That combined with all the internal divisions that Kennett and the treatment of Clarkson has caused, could really combine to set them back and consign them to the doldrums for a good period.
  19. IF we make the GF and Jones is fit, the he starts on the ground IMHO. If he starts as the sub, that would be viewed as a token effort and an insult to him, which wouldn't be fitting of the contribution of him over the journey. Even if his body isn't what it was a few years ago, he's still close to as good as a few players on the frindge of the team at the moment. If he plays, he will put in 200%, definitely wouldn't back out of a contest and would strike fear into the opposition in his immediate area. I think there is less risk of him being overawed by the occation than some of the less experienced players on our list. Back in 2000, none of our players stood up and matched it with Essendon physically, when Sheedy bought out his typical dirty thuggery. Jones bluntly wouldn't stand for that and he'd fly the flag with a few others like Viney, Hibbo and Maysy to get the message across that we will not be physically intimidated. Even if his body only makes it through half to three quarters of a game, we then have the sub and it would be a high value half a game we'd get from Jonesy. The fabric of footy clubs are built on spirit and playing Jonesy epitomizes that. We are in it, he is fit, he plays and starts on the ground.
  20. Hasn't been announced yet, so not soon enough. Total muppet and provided a shocking umpiring combo against us yet again.
  21. Sorry, not convinced GWS are/Will be the worst side in the top 8. * Brisbane have been puss over the last 4+ weeks since loosing a few players * West Coast are complete puss anywhere but Optus * If Richmond fall into the top 8 almost by default, then they will be every bit the battle weary, flaky side, just ready to fold like a pack of cards against decient opposition. They might pull one out first week of finals, but will be found out in subsequent weeks. Haven't had what it takes to string together consistent form and wins against good sides this season.
  22. I've been glad Sparrow has been given a few consecutive weeks to establish himself and build form after being there abouts and banging down the door in the magoos. Problem for me is that he hasn't really imposed himself on the side in any games within that time and hasn't made any real case to keep his spot any longer. Someone like Jones or Melksham are more damaging and creative from the limited opportunities they get in games. Still appears to have some potential to step up and break into the side in the future and is handy depth, but I feel he needs to put in a really big preseason and take his game to another level, because apart from being a really good kick for goal he is somewhat vanilla at the moment. Seems to have a good ballanced head on his shoulders, so I'm backing him to persevere and make a go of it at some stage, I just don't think he's best 22 material in 2021.
  23. 6. Harmes 5. ANB 4. Clarry 3. Trac 2. Gawn 1. Bowey
  24. We eventually turned Tom Scully into Steven May and left the carcass of Tom Scully for the vultures at Glenferrie Rd to clog a list spot with, so in the end it could be viewed as a win, win.
  25. Agree, I don't think I'd be devastated either, but really do hope that we can build some form and chalk up the Ws over this last few games. I do suspect that there has been some tweaks and experimentation with the game plan and personnel over the past few months but I think it's really important that we hit finals having consolidated that and built confidence in those changes so that we are cherry ripe and ready to tear the rest of the competition apart in devastating, ruthless style.
