  1. Don't get me wrong, loved him as a player growing up and from what I understand he still loves the club and means well, but he's made a habit of being publically overly critical and negative about the club as a media personality, which I don't think is actually constructive. Surely he could have conversations with the likes of Brad Green etc without airing all his views on all our dirty laundry in the open.
  2. On the topic of social media, while I agree that we want something a bit edgy and entertaining, I think there are lines that a club social media account shouldn't cross. In the recent trade period, I noticed the GWS site practically trolling us with photos of Jessie and Bedford essentially welcoming Trac and Clarry right at the start of the trade period before any deals were done. I generally like GWS post $cully era, but these posts really got up my nose and feel they were utterly unprofessional for the club's official site to be promoting.
  3. Yeah, I like the approach that Dan Gorringe takes. He's great all round entertainment value IMHO.
  4. Sorry, but that's [censored] form from Ox. Adds to the media pile on, tars everyone with a guilty brush based in insinuations. Again coming from the guy could have been as good as Wayne Carey on feild, but that destroyed his own career and contributed to bad team culture that derailed the team. If Ox has concerns and insights based on his own experiences, by all means raise them directly to the club leadership and board etc, but just adding to the public pile on reeks of him putting his own personal media profile and interests above that of the club. By contrast, Max is the consumate professional trainer, has what 8 all Australian medals to his own name, a premiership and consecutive seasons where the team was a pace setter of the league and top 4 finishes. I'd also suggest that as a captain/leader, Max's easy going affable style is somewhat ballanced by others in the team like the super intense Jack Viney that has more your Joel Selwood mindset, but perhaps not so much the level of interpersonal skills.
  5. I'd be interested to know what he did say, so care to share any key points or links to something that does? That said, I find it very hard being lectured on this kind of stuff by the Ox the way he does. The club wasted so much tallent and oppertunity during his time as a player. Say what you will about Max, but under his leadership we actually delivered 2 - 3 pretty elite seasons that have no equal in my lifetime as a MFC supporter in terms of performance and results. Even though we ultimately fell short in 22 and 23, the club has never been able to put together such a dominant stretch of form and be the force of the competition that we were from the period of the start of 2021 till at least mid way through 2022.
  6. Sorry, but can someone clarify who it is below?
  7. So we'll have JT and DT. On a semi related note of the AGM, I think it would be a great move for the club to make JT a life member of the MFC. ...should nominate him for a knighthood to while we're at it.
  8. Wounder if the AFL rights would permit us to run some kind of doco/MFC themed entertainment peice on Stan? At the very least, you'd expect the standard of our social media and member communications content to improve and be top notch. Given all the rubbish negative media coverage we've had over the past few years, you'd thing having someone with these kind of connections would also be huge in projecting a positive image and rebrand of the club and position us well in the Melbourne sporting marketplace, which could be critical for the club going forward. On face value this sounds like a great appointment to me.
  9. And you're worried about that why? Barossa Valley seems like the perfect location for Dees fans and it's not like we've actually done any good at Adelaide oval during Gather Rd anyway. Us playing one of the Adelaide teams (or anyone other than playing each other) gather round sux as it effectively gifts them an address home game.
  10. Max is our closest equivalent of Dan Gorringe and I think the time is right to give him some more air time in promoting the club again. His Gus and Gawn podcast was always great entertainment and ended for obvious reasons, but I think a remake is there for the taking. Should pair him up with Chin, Jake Lever or someone else in the team with a bot of personality and entertainment value.
  11. Website and socials have been pretty average really since Gibbo left. Yeah, with you on this one - BRING BACK GIBBO, he was the GOAT! Seriously, I thought he was a bit of a weird cat, but actually respected that he did a decent job of bridging old worldly conservative nature of the MFC, while also playing to a younger audience in his own natural authentic way.
  12. It exists. Feel free to contribute:
  13. Putting in a nomination for the Zac Jones thread and another for "players that need a hair cut" one.
  14. Their version of the Bailey Humphrey thread in the making!
  15. Judd was a solid reliable backman, but don't recall him being that great at the rebound part of the role. I can see us getting much more drive off half back from Jiath.
  16. ...just a quick peek at the S last names in Demon Wiki provides a further 4 Jacks from early / mid last century: Jack Sambell Jack Smith Jack Stock Jack Strong
  17. Brilliant Google AI could only come up with 4: At least four players named Jack have played for the Melbourne Football Club: Jack Viney, Jack Trengove, Jack Billings, and Jack Sinclair. Jack Viney is a current player, while Jack Trengove is a former captain. Jack Billings joined Melbourne in 2024, and Jack Sinclair played for the Melbourne Football Club for a short period after moving from St Kilda, although he is not currently on the list??
  18. Thanks mate, just as I was trying to finish a late dinner.
  19. Agree. Picks 30, 45, 56, 58 & 73 might also equal pick 1, but are nothing like it in reality, unless you are holding them for a FS / academy that would actually be bid on at pick one. Guerra could have just left it at something like "it gives us an additional 3 opportunities to bring in top end young tallent over the next 2 drafts, which is a great outcome in the circumstances, so well done to the list management team." This points system is a farce and provides way too much of a discount on elite talent. It's something that I think needs a significant work over to bring equalisation back into check. Should require at least a pick in the same round and, maybe then you could make up the remaining 'points value' with odds and sods.
  20. I think Maysie has always been pretty direct, honest and wears his heart on his sleave kind of guy. He's also got that burning competitiveness and is at heart I believe a team player. I actually think he'll work well with Steven Kings style of leadership and game style. I see it as a real positive that he'll be around to help develop the next generation of our young defenders. Also think Lever would feel lost on the feild if he didn't have someone to argue with like May.
  21. Are you suggesting that the long room floor would be covered in Chris Mew?
  22. I give my endorsement to Kenterfield for No.14, though I'd be equally OK with it going to The Moose.
  23. Just been delisted by St Kilda. Would have loved to have had him here when Nathan was playing but there's now a chance to reunite them as player and coach. Actually thought Zac was quite an effective player for them at times this year. In all honesty, after all the turmoil we’ve had with departing champions this season, heart says yes, but equally head really says no. ...over to the Demondland faithful.
  24. Yeah, that would have helped, but Brisbane put in some pretty putrid performances this season during the home and away and went on to win the flag again. Like Brisbane, we had a team that was more than compeditive enough and capable of winning big finals to win it again. That final against those scum, we came back after a shocking first quarter and still nearly won the game after our star and leader (future captain) was taken out by that thug act. That change doesn't happen and history could have been very different. It's not just the act its self, but Collingwood's lack of humility and contrition in appealing the suspension that is also unforgivable.
