i spent a significant amount of time at the southport sharks this year - talking to people who are involved in teh club. yes its a big club. a huge club. but to be honest - its not really a footy club, its more like a country club. 3 bars, a huge [censored] bistro, and a very classy balcony overlooking their main ground (great to drink beer from). but in terms of actual fans - footy fans not just bar fans who go there because its the only pub around - and it is (its also next to a uni, do the math) - im not sure how big they are. actually i dont think they are that big at all.

this is great. because melbourne dont have their own rooms at the mcg, never have. because your deal with the MCC gets you 13 or 14 games there and not the AFL draw - which the mcc has next to no power over except that they have a minimum number of games requirement, which i think is 60 or 70 odd. funny about that. melbourne get to train on the mcg every week too. during the season. are you a collingwood member as well as MCC? i am an mcc member and a fully paid up melbourne member (got my gold card yesterday)- and this is different from being a mcc member and an associate melbourne member.

the point is that it doesnt matter if you win or lose interstate, its the fact that you actually have to go less - i have this arguement with a bloke from work once a week. he even agrees the draw isnt fair but says since they have more fans they should get more games. i say, go [censored] yourself, if it was fair we might have more fans. 30 games a season doesnt work either, but i think there needs to be some system in place that assures vic teams of playing equal number of games interstate over at least a couple of years. even if it was 15 games interstate per 3 years, that would be fair, not incl the sold ones. thats 5 a year - a fair number for any team. just a suggestion. then teams like collingwood wouldnt play less games interstate in 2 years than the kangaroos do in one. and then everyone wonders why the roos dont have any supporters- because the members get less value for money and less chance to see their team play, and im not talking about the hardcore that sign up every year either, im talkin about the the 5000odd who sign up if they think they will do well, or will get to 10 games or whatever. the afl needs to make the draw fair in relation to travel before anyone can go critizing teams for being poor or [censored] - make the draw fair then see what happens. i bet if the roos had the pies draw they would have 5000 more members and wouldnt be under pressure to move to the gold coast!!!

its not the stats you get but what you do with them. bruce's disposal this year has been abysmal. his kicking action is too. look at the distance between release and contact, its huge! carrol has lots of marks cos weve been playing kick it sideways for half the year. carroll is a good FB, but he is never going to beat the likes of lloyd one out. he needs help, like all FB. even sos who everyone raves about needed help ffs. calm down. everyone is low on confidence. doesnt mean they cant actually play.
