AW's not so bad. If you can get used to Rex then it's a better offering than SEN. Listening to SEN can make it difficult to keep track of what's going on sometimes, especially when KB, Mark Doran, or Andy Maher are calling. MMM is as bad as it gets. ABC leads the pack.

Sums up my thoughts. Once Maric and Wonaeamirri return, though, hopefully we won't be complaining about not playing Davey forward.

Three Collingwood fans charged over alleged bashing
titan_uranus replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I saw the latter stages, kind of around the time Champ's photo above was taken. If it was up to me, these a-holes should be banned from attending any AFL match at any ground for life. -
I hate BT. He thinks he's God's gift to this Earth. A total [censored]. I cannot understand how he continues to be crowned the best commentator in the business. Useless. Rant over.

Definitely one of our better players yesterday, more so in the first half though. Went missing after half time. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him kick consecutive passes on his right boot. Hopefully he's worked on his right-foot kicking so that he isn't so predictable and doesn't have to constantly turn onto his left.

Casey Scorpions v Coburg Tigers 5/4/09
titan_uranus replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks KC. I can't decide whether or not I want Newton to do well. We need a forward to step up, but I don't really want it to be Newton. Meesen in best = PJ being dropped? -
Don't you mean Sylvia is junk?
-
Valenti will get promoted. Whether or not that's in the best interest of the club remains to be seen, but Zomer hasn't shown enough at senior VFL level to be considered yet. VFL reserves are a long way behind the AFL.
-
Oh yeah, he tried to make the GF in 07. You're right then.
-
They've been worse than they were today Jack. But the problem is still that the players are stagnant and don't provide options to the kicker. There was one kick in in the second quarter where all the players moved to the same side of the ground, and Warnock was stranded, waiting for one of them to run into the open space on the other side of the ground. It was plainly obvious that someone should have gone the other direction.
-
Agree. His kicking skills are second to none at the club.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing him as a forward either. But if the decision is made to play him forward, or back, it is imperative that at this early stage in his career, he stays there. Miller provides the perfect example of how to ruin someone's development by shifting them back and foward all the time. Garland's injury worries me. It's the same bone that's kept Egan out for 3 years.
-
Whatever it is, he looks a shadow of the man who dominated against St. Kilda in the elimination final of 2006. I wouldn't be surprised if he's carrying an injury but he's either too determined or too stubborn to admit it.
-
Correct. Martin can play football, and has more skill in him than a lot of other Melbourne players. But he had a problem today of trying to do too much. He constantly left his man to help others out, sometimes it just wasn't needed. He played on Anthony, who really, we have to say, beat him soundly. Then he was moved on to Cloke for 2 minutes, and conceded another 2 goals. But Martin's shown enough for us to know that he will make a very handy defender.
-
Disgree. Morton runs hard for 4 quarters, he gets into the right position so that he is available, and he makes the right decisions. His kicking is sometimes horrendous, but he was one of our best today. On the topic of McLean, I heard on the radio after the game that he had 10 kicks, of which 8 went to the opposition. Garry Lyon said he's never seen McLean play as badly as he did today, and I agree with him.
-
6 - Warnock 5 - Davey 4 - Green 3 - Morton 2 - Rivers 1 - Jones Warnock killed Cloke. No coincidence that Cloke's two goals came in the 2 minutes that Warnock was moved off him.
-
In: Maric, Wheatley, Whelan (all depending on fitness) Out: Sylvia, Bennell, Jetta If we had more fit players then I'd also drop McLean and Johnson. Sylvia did nothing and doesn't deserve a spot in the team. Bennell and Jetta have showed that they will be a part of this team in the future, but right now they're out of their depth and need time at Casey.
-
Bartram - tries; goes missing Bate - better yet poor Bennell - needs VFL practise Bruce - really poor disposal Cheney - better last week Davey - BOG by far Frawley - takes game on Green - good strong effort Jetta - needs VFL practise Johnson - smashed by Fraser Jones - more poor disposal Martin - he's been better McDonald - never stops running McLean - his worst game Miller - only one half Moloney - good at stoppages Morton - much improved performance Petterd - underused by coaches Rivers - another sterling effort Sylvia - useless performance again Warnock - BOG for us Spencer - a future prospect I'd attribute that more to PJ than Spencer. Johnson was awful today.

42.something. Definitely 42,000, can't remember the last 3 digits. Point is that's really low for a Collingwood match. And it shows how fickle Melbourne supporters are when we're away. They got a similar crowd last week when the away team was Adelaide.
-
The contested marks really improved this match. In the first half it was one of the reasons we did so well. Good to see they saw one thing that was bad from last week and improved on it.
-
Argh. Damn it. That's bad. Let's just hope they fix it first time and this doesn't become a recurring problem. On the flipside, that means Valenti must be in line for a promotion to the senior list.
-
If the weather tomorrow's anything like today: 42,000 If the weather's good for footy: 55,000

I wish the AFL would clarify things. Look how many theories as to how this works have been thrown up just by Demonlanders. No one really knows what's going on.
-
Amazing how perceptions of one player (Garland) can change so dramatically in a few months.
-
Just noticed: Martin at FF. There's something new. Some posters here will be happy to see that. Edit: And Cheney in the middle. And Johnson at CHB.
