One question I have is: why is our B&F so late? 21st October, that's a long, long time after our season finished. St Kilda and Geelong have managed to have theirs despite playing in the GF. I don't really understand what the wait is for. I would have thought we'd want to put it behind us and concentrate on season 2010.

Don't know about the collar. I can't see any reason why sticking a collar on a jumper would invoke passion amongst the players. They'd probably just feel a little bit stupid. Let's just concentrate on getting the colours better and the design tighter (if possible).

Mumford is just OK. Nothing special there.

I doubt we'll be trading for Burgoyne. If we want him, we'll be persuading him to resist going to Hawthorn or any other club this week, and go into the PSD. None of this matters, because he'll end up at Hawthorn. Come Friday, Port will realise that they're not going to get any offers better than that which Hawthorn has already proposed. So they'll take it.

Essendon are massive winners. Not that St Kilda isn't, but Essendon's 2009 ends up with them playing finals and getting two picks inside the top 16. To me that's a great year for Essendon. As for St Kilda, well, like Hawthorn, it's about a premiership in 2010 for them. Lovett could take Dempster, Milne, Schneider or Ball's spot in their GF and improve it, so that's a win for them.

No way! I love Grant Thomas on FC. Straight up, to the point, doesn't sugarcoat stuff. Much, much better than Wayne Carey or Glenn Archer.

Dawes for Pick 18 and Simon Buckley on the move

Good on them. If only they'd given us something for him, instead of getting him for free. -
Agree. He has to get his face on everything, too.

Let's be honest though, their list as is is very strong, they should be pushing top 4 next year despite this year's failure. They also have a few good young players (Schoenmakers, Moss, Shiels) and their list was the youngest this year. It might bite them in the bum in 4 or 5 years time, but I think they're doing the right thing in terms of seeking a second premiership.
-
It might be the other way around Old55: I read that Carlton wanted to upgrade their pick, so that it might be McLean and pick 34 for pick 11 and pick 43.
-
I think this is just the club coming to a realisation that if we were to put Miller on the trade table, he wouldn't command anything decent, and after all these years investing time into him, they may have decided that we're better off signing him to a relatively small contract. Hopefully, as Hannibal said, his physicality and experience can help out Watts, Jurrah and whoever else gets the task of playing the Melbourne forward line.

I was hoping the deal would be finalised by now. Just starting to get a bit worried. If we have to add something to the deal, I wouldn't be averse to adding Bell in (i.e. McLean and Bell for pick 11), but according to everything the deal should go through as is.

It seems to me that the top 4 of Scully, Trengove, Martin, Morabito seems to be a favourite of these phantom drafts. After that it's all guesswork.

Well the only spinner we'll be facing now is Daniel Vettori. Well done NZ for beating the talented but unpredictable Pakistan, who had them on the ropes until NZ used their batting powerplay (which is how all team should be using them, don't just wait until the last 5 overs). Should be a good contest, but you'd back us in to beat NZ.
-
I'd go for Knights. Superb kick. But I think he's staying.

That's assuming the Burgoyne deal goes ahead. That's not guaranteed. The overall situation, if the Everitt deal goes ahead as well, would be: In: Everitt, Westhoff Out: Rivers, Jamar Upgrade pick 18 to pick 9 Whether you like that or not depends how highly you value Rivers and Jamar. Personally we'd lose out of this. I rate Rivers very highly, and Jamar was beginning to show a bit, and Westhoff is a dud.
-
I know it's subjective. That's what opinions are. I believe Franklin did not have as good a year as Davey. Franklin was up and down, some games good, some games bad. Davey was more consistent IMO.
-
Flaw number 1: Port Adelaide does not possess Pick 9. They have pick 8. Flaw number 2: Melbourne would never agree to this. Westhoff is an over-rated piece of crap.
-
Sheahan's top 50 does nothing more than promote discussion about how far off the mark Mike Sheahan is. What the hell is Lance Franklin doing there? Davey had a better, more consistent year than he did.

Dawes for Pick 18 and Simon Buckley on the move
titan_uranus replied to demonglory's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes, let's throw away pick 18 for an unproven, slow, can't-get-a-game hack. No thanks. -
What a batting performance from Watson and Ponting! Supreme stuff. Sticking it to the Poms again too! I think Pakistan will beat NZ tonight, and I think they have the ability to beat us in the final. I'm not sure what it is, but we seem to struggle against Saeed Ajmal (the off-spinner). And they have a few good bastmen too (Mohammad Yousuf is a star). Absolute joke. From those nominated, Strauss should have won. But Graeme Smith and AB de Villiers should have been nominated. Read in The Age today that the South African players boycotted the event (amongst a lot of other players). Good on them. Those awards are token pieces of rubbish.

That'd be good. I sign up anyway, but that would probably mean I would go to the Docklands games.

Blues yet to finalise McLean deal: http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...66/default.aspx "It's a pick we don't rate lightly and Brock is a quality player that's worthy of that pick, so that's why we've offered it up," Icke told afl.com.au. "I'll speak to Melbourne and see whether there might be something else that they might want to give back our way. At this stage, what we've agreed on will make the deal happen. "We've got things that we need to tidy up from our end with ticking off the medical screening and just confirming what his arrangements are going to be with his manager." I don't get that middle sentence. At this stage, he says the deal will go ahead. But he also says he wants to see if we'll add something to the trade. Huh?

Who has renewed their membership for 2010 season?
titan_uranus replied to dees189227's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well I've renewed my MCC, but now that I think about it, I can't remember if I also renewed my MFC membership. Better go check... -
3 tumours = tough fight ahead. Horrible stuff.
