And I believe he kicked 3 goals for Casey on the weekend? Miller's future is as bleak as can be. But then, we've already seen Newton back for 2 games, and now PJ's back, so maybe there's hope yet.
-
??? You told us he should be dropped. How does him getting moved into a more important role support your argument?
-
Given Rivers is still in the team don't be surprised if we play a loose man in defence (i.e. Rivers) who will help Warnock/Frawley out. I can't really see any other role for Rivers against the Dogs.
-
Martin offers more to the team, especially in the future, than Johnson does. What do we expect from Martin if we don't give him time at AFL level? We've given Johnson that time and he's never taken his chance. Bad move I say.
-
Melbourne B: Cameron Bruce, Matthew Warnock, James Frawley HB: James McDonald, Colin Garland, Clint Bartram C: Jack Trengove, Jordie McKenzie, Jared Rivers HF: Brad Green, Colin Sylvia, Lynden Dunn F: Nathan Jones, Matthew Bate, Aaron Davey Foll: Mark Jamar, Jack Grimes, Brent Moloney I/C: Jamie Bennell, Paul Johnson, Tom Scully, Daniel Hughes Emg: Joel Macdonald, Neville Jetta, Michael Newton In: Johnson, Hughes, McKenzie Out: Joel Macdonald, Ricky Petterd (shoulder), Stefan Martin I can't believe Johnson is in. What a joke. Edit: I also reckon that's pretty tough on MacDonald. One bad game and he's out. Rivers could be considered very lucky given we're playing the Dogs and he hardly set the world on fire last week.

Is this confirmed? If so I'm going to puke.
-
This post confirms why Johnson should not be selected.
-
Tom McNamara. Danny Hughes even. Just not Johnson, Miller or Newton.
-
The poll tells us what we think. Not what is true. It seems many of us (you) are misguided. PJ is not, never was, and never will be, an AFL forward.
-
I don't remember you ever being wrong. But that's because I can't remember you ever posting a rumour here.
-
Don't say that without a source. At least say 'I've heard that...' or something.
-
Oh yes, if he's coming second in a poll there then that definitely confirms that he's a decent forward. Let's just forget about the times when he's actually been played there...

Morton will go to Casey for at least one week, but we could ease him back after just 1 week by playing him forward/bench. If 1 week is enough he'll come back for the West Coast match. But after that it's the Darwin trip then the Cats in Geelong. The West Coast match could be one he could be eased into. But the last thing we can afford is to rush him back. So this post is a little bit all over the place.

Not Miller, Newton or Johnson. If that means McNamara gets picked to play forward (I'd like to see that at some point, so maybe this week?), or Garland gets shifted forward, or Martin plays FF for 75% of the game, or Green plays out of the goalsquare, or Sylvia plays deeper, so be it. But picking Newton, Johnson or Miller is not a progressive step forward. It is nothing but a step backwards. Those three players are long, long gone, they are not part of our future, they will not be there when we win our next premiership, and they have had enough chances at AFL level to repeatedly show they are not good enough. One good game at Casey does not mean we automatically go crawling back to them.

Well i am not Happy about this.....

It's ridiculous that he's not in there, and anyone who doesn't like it should just go away. He's the best (or at least top 3) player the game's ever seen. That alone over-rides any problems he's had off the field. -
Not the worst idea. He's done well up forward in the past. Could also be a good way to ease him back into the side.
-
For the last time, could we please drop the notion that only our Queensland-born players are on the GC's target list? If they want someone, they'll have a go at them regardless of where they were born or whether or not they have some sort of ancient or otherwise fragile link to the state. Ablett's not from Queensland.

That's our third shoulder injury this year. Jeepers. Maybe Bohdan's to blame. All the best to Ricky in his recovery though. But I don't think he'll make it back by the end of the year, so he'll be set on Round 1.

Check this out. Surely this is a first?!? KA Pollard st †Kieswetter b Swann 0 0 0 0 He was stumped off a wide, thus he didn't face a ball yet went out (that's possible if you're run out, but not usually otherwise). It also means England took two wickets off one ball, as the records will show that Gayle was out to ball 3.3, and Pollard was also out to ball 3.3 (at least that's what Cricinfo's scorecard says).

Jetta played better last year as a forward than Bennell has over the last few weeks (on average). Aussie will take Bennell's spot in a canter if Bennell doesn't improve. I think it will be hard to justify keeping Bennell in the side when those other players return from injury (the later ones, not McKenzie and Bail) or get in decent form. Unless Bennell improves. Which is the point of my first post I guess. He's not giving enough over 4 quarters atm.

They are struggling badly. We pulled 10,000 more against an interstate club. They should have expected at least 30,000. I'd be worried if I was them.
-
Oh geez. Someone suggested Miller to Hall. I thought we'd gone past that on here.
-
No. How many chances does a man need at AFL level before it becomes clear to all that he isn't good enough? Newton, Bell and Miller should be 3 clear examples. Don't mind the rest of your ins, though (although word is Bail is injured). That looks OK. Cheney's been knocking on the door for a while now, and since Bail seems to be injured I think the chance is his. And agree re: Miller. Absolutely 0 benefit to playing Miller, Newton or Johnson. I don't read the efficiency statistic. It's bogus. And that example of Judd says it all, as he was BOG according to the papers. Dunn turns the ball over. In zero-pressure situations. He has no clue what to do when we don't have the ball aside from games where he's tagging. Saying I don't know what the FD's role for him was isn't an excuse. Neither do you. If we are all precluded from commenting on stuff we don't have the inside knowledge on then this forum would shut down due to lack of activity. Dunn adds little to this team and he is really just warming the seat for some of the more talented players on our list who are injured or coming back from injury. You're right about Bartram though. He showed Dunn how to tag Brent Harvey. Keeps his spot based on that alone.

Proof of his under-ratedness. Not that he is actually that good. I just reckon he's a bit better than anyone here's giving him credit for. Not good enough to get re-contracted though.
