  1. You really have to feel for the players (assuming they didn't know what was going on). They're no longer premiership players and they have nothing to play for this year.
  2. He seems to float around without knowing where to position himself or who to man up on. Just an observation. Well we'll have to agree to disagree. Like I said, it isn't going to drastically change the performance of the team, and it's nice to see players being rewarded, but I don't see what a lot of others see in Dunn, and especially with Brisbane having to fit and mobile rucks, I thought Martin would be able to do what Dunn's been doing, but better.
  3. Disagree. Still doesn't know what he's doing when we don't have the ball, and still can't kick. Did OK in the ruck, but I reckon Martin can do what he's doing but better. It's not a biggie, and it's good we're keeping a winning team together.
  4. Melbourne Team Backs: McDonald, Warnock, Frawley Half backs: Bruce, Garland, Dunn Centreline: Trengove, Davey, Bartram Half forwards: Green, Petterd, Jones Forwards: Sylvia, Bate, Bail Followers: Jamar, Grimes, Moloney I/C: MacDonald, McKenzie, Scully, Bennell, Cordner, Wenzler Emergencies: Martin, Gysberts, Cheney No change. These are two supporters who won the competition. Dunn lucky again.
  5. This is a Melbourne board. What's a thread about what the Bulldogs are doing with their team doing on here?
  6. Unbelievable. You wouldn't blame the players for walking out on the club. What's the point in playing when you can't win any points? Seems a bit OTT, but as more info is released the picture might become clearer.
  7. Disappointing if true. I was looking forward to Brown doing his thing at the 'G. Oh well. I guess it can only help us.
  8. Neither have turned the corner. Bartram has had a couple of good games. But he hasn't really set the world on fire. Just doing a job. He'll keep his spot while he keeps doing his job. Aside from some valiant efforts in the ruck, it's been the same Dunn as always. Always looking lost when we don't have the ball, basic errors by hand and foot. Just warming the seat for the likes of Morton, Watts, Jurrah, Wonna, Tapscott at co.
  9. What's all this talk about Brown missing? Rumour or what? If he doesn't play that helps. A lot. Edit: Maybe I should read the entire thread dedicated to this...
  10. Think of the positives: if it's cold/wet, and it's on FTA, plenty of fickle supporters will just stay home. This way, the only way most of us can see it is at the game itself. More important that we're on TV when we go interstate so the majority of our supporters, who live in Melbourne, can see. And none of our interstate games are on TV this year. Which sucks.
  11. Agree. But they're better than us. No question. That doesn't mean we can't win, but it means we're likely to have a portion of the game where their class just gets them 3 or 4 goals, and that might be the difference. Playing in Melbourne will help us.
  12. No I would not care to meet you in person. I would also not care to continue this ridiculous argument. Let's leave it thus: you are intimidated by my (and others') ability to maintain a conversation without resorting to personal insults. And you're a bully. Damn. I guess I'm a hypocrite now.
  13. I did mean that it 'remains to be seen' in a good way (i.e. that if he gets over this inherent tackling problem then maybe he'll be fine). You could take the same argument but reverse it (i.e. we're yet to see if he fails in the current team, and his last efforts at AFL level were good enough to suggest he has a future, so why wouldn't he be a future prospect, and why wouldn't he get some sort of rating by us fans?). Of course the answer to everything will only be known if and when he does return to AFL football. Until then, I still believe people don't really consider him a part of our plans for future success.
  14. It just seems to me that people have assumed that because it's been 2 years that others have gone past him. I disagree that his performances 'fell away notably' after 10 games, but even so, for a first-year rookie to play 1 game, let alone the 18 he played, is no mean feat, and you'd expect his performances to vary. He was second in the goalkicking, he was deadly accurate, and he applies pressure. Whether or not his body is cut out for AFL football remains to be seen. It seems that the problem at the moment is his tackling motion, which the club is working on.
  15. Not literally? So how did he mean it? It didn't need to be said, regardless of what his intent was. If you feel it's more appropriate to insult than to take 2 extra seconds to write something slightly more meaningful then that says more about you than me.
  16. Under-rated on this site IMO. He is the straightest kick at goal you'll see, and he will provide good tackling pressure in the forwardline. Hopefully we get him back within the next 4 weeks. I think he will make a difference to how many goals we can score.
  17. Why so rude? Why not just say that the plan is ludicrous and completely unworkable? That there would be no way our supporters, nor any other clubs' supporters, would support a divisional system if it's going to mean we're playing Ballarat or Cairns instead of Collingwood or Geelong? That there is no chance in hell that the AFL will take on teams from rural towns. It was a nice effort, but totally off the mark. But you don't have to insinuate that he's a drug addict just because you don't like it.
  18. Without having read any other post: In: Martin Out: Dunn We need back up in the ruck this week. Leuenberger and Clark will run all night, and Jamar can't be expected to keep up the whole time. Martin provides back up as well as a possible FF as well as possible help in defence if needed. Dunn has to be commended for his valiant rucking efforts, but everything else about his game was so-so at best. Doesn't deserve his spot. No other changes necessary. Keep the group together until the class starts coming back (Morton, Jurrah, Watts, Wonaeamirri).
  19. I said before the Collingwood game that we wouldn't get close even if we played well. I feel the same way, but we showed we are good enough against the Pies, and we'll be riding a wave of confidence, something we didn't have in Round 2. Also, Brisbane have 4 wins from 4 games, but 3 of those wins were at the Gabba. One was against West Coast (hardest road trip in the comp), one was against Carlton (nothing to brag about there) and one was against a tired Bulldogs team coming off a 6 day break (good win though). The other was against Port, who are either hot or terrible.
  20. Don't count us out just yet. Brown and Fevola could maybe possibly get injured... Seriously, if Frawley and Warnock do their jobs, and the other members of the defence get back to help them out, then I reckon we'll do OK. But as you say, provided we don't get a Round 1 repeat, there won't be any shame in losing. Edit: Brisbane have so far kicked 61 goals, of which Brown and Fevola have kicked 32 (that's 52%).
  21. The tide turned after Round 2 IMO. That showed me that we have the talent, passion and endeavour to go all the way. Next week will be a much better guide though. Nothing like coming up against an undefeated team with Brown and Fevola in the forward line.
  22. And he probably won't get a Brownlow vote due to his being reported.
  23. That would explain it. It was just so far removed from the brilliance of last week. We need him fit and firing if we're any chance vs Brisbane. He and Warnock have a big week ahead of them.
  24. McNamara and Cheney?
  25. 8.1 in the first. 0.6 in the second. 7.4 in the third 5.2 in the fourth. Second quarter was abysmal. The rest were pretty good.
