Thanks GNF. There was clearly plenty going on - apparently GWS went hard after Stevie J, Motlop and Jeremy Howe really late on. They plonked pick 6 down for Howe and we were stunned but didn't have time to even think about it. Amazing stuff (got this from Mark Stevens, I have no inside source!)

You'll forgive me for missing it as all you've done for a fortnight is moan about not landing 7 A grade midfielders and that we aren't doing enough and blah blah blah. At no stage did it look like an attempt at humour, it was more about a bloke who didn't know what he was talking about.
-
The irony in his posts aren't all that surprising. Bloke can't see past his nose, just wants to find any way he can to be negative.
-
Exactly. Backline. To me that is area of the ground is the least of our worries going forward. We need mids first, another key forwad second and whatever else is left on the table after that.
-
I have no idea where people are getting this idea of Lever playing in the middle from. The bloke is 194cm and has been likened to a variety of backmen. I don't see him being a mid at all. McCartin would look good next to Hogan and Dawes, although I'm still hopeful that the Saints bugger it up and let Petracca slip through to us.

Jack Watts, pick 2, pick 3 and pick 23 to Carlton for Brock McLean McLean then on traded to West Coast for Jamie Bennell! WELCOME BACK TO MELBOURNE JAMIE BENNELL!!!!!! -
We were never going to get either player. The Kennedy one came from nowhere and was refuted by everyone, and the Crows emphatically put the Dangerfield one to rest very, very quickly. There were no big fish out there who were willing to come back to Victoria, or players clubs were willing to give up. If the players aren't there then we can do nothing about it.

And possibly Jake Stringer as well.

The only mistake Roos made was claiming he didn't want to bring in more young kids. He should have just said we'll be looking at deals and being active in the trade market... and left it there. There is not much he can do when the deals aren't out there to be done. If we chase the big fish but can't actually hook him on the line because clubs don't want to hear about it then so be it. Outside of Griffen there hasn't been another player out there who has made a switch that I would be interested in having at the club. Greenwood has a dip but his disposal is average and we have enough of that. The rest are all meh and types we don't really require. So if we need to top up again at the draft and look to free agency next year then so be it. I've got faith that Roos can help to improve our players further and we will see some genuinely better performances across the board from many within the club. Onwards and upwards. -

If you look at the teams in Victoria, we are actually closer to them than we think. Bulldogs have lost a few and, while they may still keep Griffen, they haven't improved much. Carlton are still so-so, Pies have lost two key players, Bombers may only be able to field half a team, Saints are still poor, Tigers are middle of the road.... if we get the improvement in the current crop we can go past some. But it's still a big if! -

They've offered him a three year deal on decent money, something he wasn't even close to getting at the Hawks. I'd jump at it too. -
The Saints trading out Stanley, and not bringing in another legit tall, can only bode well for us in the hope we take both Petracca and Brayshaw.
-
Call me a bluff old trade time traditionalist, but I just can't bring myself to believe this will happen. Nothing against you Ryan, just can't believe it in any way, shape or form.

Good grief....

I feel the same way. I really appreciate GNF's input but the riddle screamed of somebody saying "I've got info you don't and I can't divulge it... but I want you to know anyway to make myself look rather good." Either tell us what the info is or keep it to yourself. The riddle has made people look foolish as they spend their hours going over it and pulling out anything they can to make some fanciful trade happen. It's turned these threads into a complete chore and you need to wade through post after post of complete dribble to find anything of substance. -

Wouldn't call it the wrong side of the bed, just sick of wading through the utter shite in the hope of coming across something worthwhile, which their wasn't. But like I said, don't let that stop you. Go and post yet more dribble about the birds and how it's Kennedy and why it should be so. It's enlightening stuff. -

I don't have a better 'solution' because I'm not stupid enough to waste time obsessing over it. Nothing wrong with that though pal, so you go right ahead. Don't let me stop you. -

The amount of 'deduction' going on, followed by people steadfastly believing they are correct based off what you could deem as 'clues' is almost laughable. Whatever floats peoples boats I guess. -

Just as long as you can handle being totally and utterly incorrect then you can connect as many dots as you like. -

What article was that? North spoke to him a few weeks back but there has been no mention of them talking to him since he nominated us as his destination. -

Seriously GNF, your input on here is invaluable. I know you won't always be completely spot on, but you've confirmed what I think most of us thought would pan out when the Trengove news hit the media airwaves. Thanks for keeping us up to date! -

You could well and truly be right there. I can't think of anyone else that LM would fit for off the top of my head, although I'm sure someone will come up with something. Frost seems to be a cert, either through the PSD or for a late pick as well. The next 4 days are going to be torture...
