No late changes. Looks like Hibberd got up to play.

Nah, I'm after the pulpit.

Dees to go at 100% efficiency in the breezy conditions. Baker to take 19 bounces from the back pocket to the forward pocket and then kick one over his head, using the breeze to guide it through. Preuss to have 30 hit outs to advantage. Bedford to kick 7 straight. Dees by 10 goals. Get around it.

What they're saying down at Cockburn Central

Freo supporters think Josh Wagner is a big out for us. Does his dad barrack for the Dockers? -
If we stink it up tonight, this thread could become the biggest pile of slop this site has ever seen.

More of this please. Too many posters are really wallowing in their own self pity at the moment. We know four days ago sucked. There's no need to go back over every minute, negative detail to rub salt in the wound. This was moment to savour, made all the more sweeter that we were able to roll Geelong so convincingly.

You're no fun, OD.

It's pretty much an elimination final tonight. Win and we're still alive. Lose and we're pretty much done for. I like the changes - it doesn't give me the impression of desperation as such. It's our third game in less than two weeks, we have injuries to deal with a players out of form. It's a different season so, to me, seven changes makes some sense when you consider what is going on. I'm backing us in for win (when don't I), but I'm doing so without any real confidence. Bedford and Pickett to kick five between them.

We've said this the last two weeks with Butler and Papley, both of whom went on to have little impact on the contest. Their players don't worry me - it's ours that do. When we're turning it over and not working hard enough it doesn't matter who they have, as we will hand it back to them in a platter.

We've found the new Saty.

Honestly - I have no idea. Bennell I can understand. He has a low fitness base and he was clearly out of his depth a little when playing in the senior side. He'll be better for the run, and another pre-season. Lockhart is a little more perplexing.
-
I don't think Lockhart should have been dropped in the first place.

Weren't you saying 'oh dear' to the seven changes just a few pages ago?

Demonland after the Sydney loss - the team stinks, drop everyone! Demonland after the teams drop - I can't believe they made seven changes, what are they doing?!?!

Or, at the very least, spend more time there. Not a bad option if you ask me.

Not a fan of the Preuss inclusion, but... I'd rather look at what I think are the positives. Baker, Bedford and Hunt will bring some much needed pace to the side. While they aren't big possession winners, they bring that dash and excitement we need. Same goes for the inclusion of Pickett. Some real pace, dash and hopefully pressure. Hibberd back is really handy too. Only disappointing aspect is no Lockhart - did he pee in Goody's tea or something?

It's classic Melbourne to start a thread highlighting our recent losses under Goodwin. What did you aim to achieve?

I'm a bit on both sides with that. I think we should have rested a few more when we had the chance, but perhaps the club felt we didn't have enough cover and it could do more damage than good? We're not a Geelong, for instance, that can rest players and then come out and smash a side like the Bombers. We're just not good enough yet. I think those excuses mentioned above are valid, but I think we're also sick of hearing about them. Good sides overcome those things more often than not and find a way to scrap out a win, like a good side would have done against the Swans. We don't have the capacity or depth to do that on a consistent basis.
-
Which, in the end, probably wouldn't surprise us as this is our third game in a week and a half. There would be a few tired bodies out there and freshening up the side, while keeping our core players together, probably isn't a bad thing.

Would love to see any of those outside of Preuss get a run this week. While he might be a step or two slower than in the past, Nev will bring some stiffness to our backline, and we know what Hibberd and Lockhart can bring - perhaps we push one into the midfield rotations? Wouldn't mind seeing Bedford get a run either. Interesting that, of those you mentioned above, Kozzie wasn't part of it. Do they give him another game to be 'managed', or do they bring him straight back in?

Bugger you guys. Top five wins: Elimination Final over Geelong. Loved every minute. Semi Final over the Hawks. Just as sweet. Rd 22 vs the Eagles in Perth. Securing finals. 2017 Queens Birthday win against the Pies. Watts kicks the sealer. 2017 win over the Eagles. Tom Mac kicks the sealer.

Melbourne supporters seem to suck hindsight down like Coca-Cola. And no, we should not have kept Dunny.
