  1. A lot of changes there... I can't see Bailey making that many, but I agree with every one of them to be honest. Bell, Bartram both need time at Sandy, and I can't see Bode keeping Davey out of the team. I'd take a stab with Martin aswell... but, I just dunno if Richmond would have a match-up for him.
  2. Yeah, the jury is in on two points: - Sylvia IS a viable option up forward... I agree with you on that point - You failed maths... how does 3 goals, 2 behinds add up to 6 scoring shots? LoL Keep up the good work mate
  3. You could say the same about Eddie McGuire and James Brayshaw... they had no experience is securing a 'home' or building a 'sound list' as you put it. Probably the only president who could claim such things would be Jeff Kennett. However, what Brayshaw and McGuire do well as president's is market their club and get the brand out there. Garry is the 'saviour' in that regard for us though... look at the media avenues he has available to him to market the club: - His newspaper column - His radio work - His television work You could argue that he would have to cut back on all of them, should he get into the presidential position one day... but McGuire has proved that you can juggle all of it. That said though... I am happy with Jim Stynes and what he will bring, and I am also happy with Garry Lyon's love for the club. Anyone who was at the dinner on Saturday night would know that he bleeds for the red and blue. I have no doubt that he is doing stacks of stuff behind the scene's.
  4. 6 - McLean: is performing at a high level consistently now. 5 - Warnock: excellent job on Cloke. Amazing to think we wanted him gone. 4 - Garland: has gone from a raw kid, to a vital cog almost over-night. 3 - Wonaeamirri: awesome pressure, makes most of opportunities. 2 - Jones: wasn't his best game, but still stood out in my mind. 1 - Wheatley: performed okay... we need a better kicking-out structure that suits HIM.
  5. Hopefully that wasn't referring to me, coz I wasn't having a stab at anyone in particular... but you're welcome to your opinion none the less. Nah, I wasn't actually talking about CAC... it's more the players that cop the slagging that pisses me off. They are average blokes... yet some of them cop a pounding from supposed 'supporters' week in, and week out. Being at the function last night just re-affirmed that for me... they are average blokes, and one table across from me was a group of blokes under 20. They were our up-and-comers... and they are kids. I know I wouldn't of been able to handle the continual criticism some of those boys cop on a weekly basis when I was 18-19... I still wouldn't be able to now.
  6. I never ceases to amaze me how quick people sharpen their knives on this site. Some of you people are a disgrace... these are people you are talking about, and you bag the crap out of them. No wonder players have been banned from viewing these sites... who wants to constantly hear how 'crap', 'slow', 'useless' they are. I'm sure each of you would cringe away if you were asked to repeat some of the crap you've posted about certain people face-to-face with the person. Yeah, it is a public forum to post your views... but jeez, have some respect toward other people
  7. Agree 100%... probably the best post on this topic.
  8. Was an amazing night... I really can't put into words how incredible it was, and it is something I will never ever forget. I'm only a young bloke, so it was an real eye-opener for me... a classy night out for me prior to last night was a visit to the local pub for a chicken parma. The part's that stood out the most for me was Paul Gardner's speech... impressed me a lot and kicked the night off well (I didn't really rate him prior to the night). Garry Lyon's speech was from the heart... the way he got all the current players to stand up at their seats, so as everyone could see them, and then tell them how EVERYONE is 100% behind them during this tough time was really inspiring and should serve as good motivation for them tomorrow and beyond. The video package for the players who died at war was incredible... I'll admit, I had the lump in the throat and tears building up. Having never been to an ANZAC match or parade before, it was something I will never forget. That video and the last post is the memory from the night that will stick with me the most I think. Lest We Forget
  9. Fixed up the band... a tad higher now. Agreed, anything looks better than what we have now... on the one hand we have a simplistic boring thing for our club logo, and on the other hand we have an over-complicated monstrosity for our clash jumper. Hopefully both can be rectified as soon as possible. Let the members have a say in what they want... don't leave it up to graphic designers who honestly have no idea about the heritage of the club, and draw up absolute crap.
  10. Something along these lines??? Looking back I probably would of had the band higher up (where the sponsorship rests... and include the sponsorship in the blue), but is this sort of what you were thinking of mate?
  11. This is another variation on the one 'Hards' posted earlier This one could be worn with white shorts, and we could wear the red socks with the blue band at the top. I know the club is trying to distance itself from the whole 'Demons' image... but the current logo plainly sucks. I could of designed that for them over my lunch break... minus the gigantic price tag. BRING BACK TO THE DEMON!!!
  12. This is all dependent on whether we get Nick Naitanui or Robbie Warnock, so as we can release P. Johnson to play as a Lynch-like power full-forward. FF - Wonaemirri, P. Johnson, Maric HF - Davey, Bate, Miller Rotating through... Sylvia, Dunn, Newton I could see this forward-line working well in the future... has a combination of strength (Johnson & Miller), defensive pressure & pace (Davey & Wonaemirri). Bate has that booming kick that a good forward line needs. Maric is a bit of an unknown... but from all reports, he can provide that miraculous spark. Sylvia is a hard match-up... but he looks better on a half-back flank (hopefully he ends up on the ball). I still reckon Dunn will be better up forward than as a tagger. Newton is another unknown... could be a star, could be a dud. Time will tell
  13. Who you talking about??? Rich or Naitanui???
  14. ... or a Naitanui-type. Not sure where I see PJ playing for us to be honest. If we do pick up Naitanui, and then have Warnock nominate us as his preferred destination, where does that leave PJ to play? He is a decent player, with good skill for a big man... could he possibly slot into a key-position role for us? I remember one game last season where he played up forward for a half or something like that, and had a knack of leading really well and into good places... could that be developed into making him a Lynch-like monster full-forward?
  15. I am more than happy with our young midfield... Rich may one day be a superstar, but I don't think he is what we need. If he could run like Asafa Powell then maybe I'd reconsider, but unfortunately he doesn't. If we have pick #1, it should go to either Naitanui or Hurley. Look at our major weaknesses at the minute... Ruck and Key-position. Guess what position's the above two play in!!! Naitanui has been mentioned for 2-yrs prior to him being available for draft. Joel Selwood was another bloke who was getting mentioned (particularly from Dermott Brereton) years prior to being available for draft. Another was Tom Hawkins. I am not saying that this is a sure-fire method of telling how good a player is going to be... but they must be something really special if they are getting this press prior to Under 18 championships and so forth. From an on-field perspective, here is a bloke who can run at really good pace for someone 200cm, can leap beyond all those that have played the game before him, and has okay skills from what I have heard. Wouldn't every club love a Dean Cox in their team... here is our chance, except he will be able to jump all over the original version. From an off-field perspective, here is a bloke who has the potential to generate a hell of a lot of money for the club through gate-takings, memberships and merchandise. What club would not want that??? Hurley on the other-hand is a different kettle of fish... performed well in defense and up forward at the Northern Knights last season and then followed that up with selection in the Vic Metro team, and ultimately got chosen All-Australian. Has followed it up this year as well being named Vic Metro's best against Vic Country. Hasn't had the press that Naitanui or Rich have been receiving, however looks to be the best key-position prospect in the draft. Rarely gets beaten in a one-on-one contest, and keeps his opponents quiet from a possessions perspective also. The choice is up to us should we finish last... pick an athletic freak who has endless potential and fills a void in our team, or pick a highly rated key-position player, who could can play both ends and fill our vacant full-forward/full-back posts. If only we didn't win against the Doggies last year... then we could possibly have both of them.
  16. I'd like to see that sort of thing as well... we have to look towards the future. We are at the half-way mark of the season, and there are some decisions that will have to be made at the seasons end in regard to who to keep, and who goes. Bring C. Johnson in for the last 12-games to see if he is up to it. How can you evaluate a blokes ability at AFL level, when he is sitting in the stands each week? Also bring the likes of Meesen, Martin, Newton, Valenti and Maric in... these are the future and we have to get them in eventually, what better way to do it than in front of 60,000-70,000 for the Queens Birthday??? If we lose by 100-points with a young side, then so be it. What have you lost other than some percentage and 4-points??? The kids will be better for the experience with some league football under their belt's... but it frustrates me when we go for the older names like Holland, White, Yze, etc. and still lose by 60+ points. Nothing against any of those older blokes, they have been incredible servants for our club... but we have to look at the premiership clock, and I think that by the time we reach "premiership o'clock", the older blokes I have mentioned will be watching on well into retirement.
  17. Where are your votes 'tess'??? I don't think that the votes 'vanlo' gave were too far off the mark. I'll have: 6. Warnock 5. Wheatley 4. Sylvia 3. Johnson. P 2. Jones 1. McDonald
  18. I agree whole-heartedly about it being a joke if Jakovich has been left out... but your continual bagging of Cameron Bruce is a bit old. Did he not sign an autograph for you to sell on eBay or some other petty reason? I'm sure the reason you dislike him is not as petty as your continual whining about him. Grow up a bit.
  19. *Shaking my head* Okay... I'll let it be. I am over discussing the point with you. I'm not even going to waste my time. "CASEY09... WHERE M.F.C HAS TO BE"
  20. Mate, are you an imbecile??? Why do you continually pull up a post or two prior to what I or anyone else has recently posted to try and support what you have to say and then turn it back on them again? Here is something I have posted in my most recent post on this... take a good read: 'I agree that it is a good location to set-up base from a marketing stand-point. It is a large growing area, so we could do well financially out of it... it is just a [censored] to get to the ground. That is my only grudge with the venue.' I don't care... you can call me 'selfish' for not wanting to travel the other side of the town to watch my club play... it is a shame that the club has to resort to these measures to survive. I put in my bit to help the club... I am a member, I am attending the 150 dinner, I love the club like nothing else. So you can go right ahead and keep pulling up old posts to support your 'arguments', and you can go right ahead and call me selfish again. The fact of the matter is... I would rather be considered selfish, than an idiot like yourself.
  21. Yeah, I obviously wasn't being serious about the Bendigo suggestion... it was tongue in cheek to make a point to belzebub59, because travel doesn't seem an obstacle for him/her. Anyway, I am not going to continue to harp on about it... but I just think that Casey Fields is too far out of most supporters way. If we were to play at a 'boutique' venue, it should be centralized to suit all supporters. It really is only convenient for people who live on the Eastern side of Melbourne. Who is going to want to go to Cranbourne from the Western suburbs? Who is going to want to go to Cranbourne from the Northern suburbs? Myself, I live in the Northern suburbs... and I attend most matches, however, if we started playing out Cranbourne, I would rather tune in and watch it on television than take the 2-3hr round trip to get to the ground and back (I have an uncle in Cranbourne, so I know how long it would take me to get there). If that makes me a bad member, then so be it. I agree that it is a good location to set-up base from a marketing stand-point. It is a large growing area, so we could do well financially out of it... it is just a [censored] to get to the ground. That is my only grudge with the venue.

    B.O.G

I remember more of Green's , Bate's and Aussie's possessions than I do of anyone else's. That's usually how I decide my B.O.G... if a bloke has only 15 touches but most are effective, goal saving/assisting possessions I think he has a lot more impact on the game than a bloke who has 30-35 touches that don't stand out in my memory bank. So my Top-3 B.O.G's would be Green, Bate and Aussie (in no particular order). Taking nothing away from blokes like Brock, Miller, Beamer, Garland and Warnock though... all performed well.
  23. Well, considering that most of the train-lines go right by the MCG via the loop to get all the way out to 'Cranny', I would say it has some relevance. It is simply too far out of most supporters way. If location conveniency is not an issue for you, how about we play our 'boutique' games out of Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo. Local population of 86,068... most of whom would relish the opportunity to see an AFL home & away game in their home-town. That would also make it a likely sell-out at every game that gets played there, because it would be like a big event for a place like that. It could also serve to recruit the next generation of supporters (how many other teams play in Bendigo?). However, I doubt you and many others would want to travel 150km to watch it. Same could be said for Cranbourne... most supporters would be less than jovial at the prospect of having to travel all the way to Casey Fields (By the way, I have an uncle who lives in Cranbourne, so I know how much of a [censored] it is traveling all that way from where I live). As we have seen from our supporter 'efforts' at Princes Park and even the MCG over the years, we struggle to attract a crowd against interstate or smaller clubs. How is playing a game 50km from central Melbourne going to attract more supporters than playing it at a more local ground??? The fact is, if we are going to play on a 'boutique' ground, it has to be an inner suburban ground.
  24. I was there... and two bays to my left (I was in M12 I think) was the one and only, Jimmy Stynes supporting with the average Joe supporter. Good to see that he wasn't sitting back sharing jokes with the the opposition president and a representative from the AFL heirarchy... especially after both had a lot to say about how crap the club was going off the field. Jimmy will have his finger on the pulse as to what the average supporter will want, and I reckon he will be an awesome president when the time comes.
  25. What is with the snide and sarcastic remarks to those who disagree with you? You have constantly asked Vanlo to provide 'evidence' to back up his arguments, and I would say he has done a pretty decent job at it. You on the other hand have provided nothing to support your arguments. Tell me and everyone else why the average Melbourne supporter would want to travel 50km from the clubs traditional home to watch the team play, when there may be equal or better options closer to 'home'. I don't care if you don't like Princes Park or Victoria Park... you're one person, and that is not an argument. For a bloke who has had 3000+ posts, it is a shame that your argumentative skills are so below par... lets see if you can make an improvement on it with your next post. By the way... the South-East area is already linked with St. Kilda F.C. Not exactly untouched territory like you have said. But don't let the facts get in the way of a another good 'argument' I guess.
