  1. A friend of mine was seeing an older woman, who had a husband, but didn't tell him...... We were at a bar in Crows Nest in Sydney and hubby stormed the place looking for Daniel, and when he saw us together (not together together, just together) he and his mates went after Dan and his friends. He hit me over the head with the cue for being, wait for it, the other woman to his wife's other man. If that makes any sense, it is a little complicated. Anyway I went down cold and was out for a while, as all hell broke out, and as I came to and tried to get up I got clocked by a ball being thrown at someone else. I spent a couple of nights in hospital with a hairline skull fracture and got eight stitches. Which was nothing compared to what Daniel copped. He spent a month in hospital having a number of procedures, and he then had to go through rehab because he had his back broken. He is fine now though, and single thankfully!!! So they are the details of my being involved in a bar brawl and I don't recommend it to anyone !!!
  2. Isn't it always..... And for the record while I didn't necessarily like to see what happened I don't think it should or will change the fact that Voss seems to be the favourite for the job. I have no idea, and I am guess that no-one else here willing to automatically think the worst knows, what the catalyst for the fight was, but on that footage it does not look like the player we are all paying attention to did much more than defend a friend against an attack from a pool ball And having actually been hit in the head by both a ball and a cue in a brawl, I can expertly say that it really is not much fun and ended up in stitches  I agree that anyone attached to Melbourne needs to maintain the respect of and for the club. But until this point had anyone ever heard of anything Micheal Voss had done to disgrace the Lions? And if so what makes you think he would be a disgrace at the Dees. And he doesn't compare to the others brought up here. In fact I was unbelievably surprised that he and Black were involved in such a thing and even when the new broke ages ago, I honestly believed that there had to be an external mitigating factor or extreme provocation for these two to get caught up in something like this. But in the end and despite all of this, he still has my vote (and confidence) for coach next season !!!
  3. Totally agree, he is fantastic and will hopefully only get better...... Things do look damn good with him (and Brock) in the middle :D !!!
  4. Pretty hard to say at this point in time, but seriously what a great list to choose from :D
  5. Oh, amen to that :D !!!
  6. "Same old story", good grief........ Seriouly, that must be a very short read, given he has barely played. Seventeen games seems to be way too soon to dismiss anyone out of hand with any kind of authority IMO). Lets give him the year to try to make an impact before we completely beat him up, shall we  !!!
  7. Excellent assessment TBG..... It has been great watching Bizz getting back to some of the form he was known for, and I love seeing him out there, but the sad reality is that he is getting on a little, and may have problems cracking a spot when all players are back on deck (but he probably wouldn't cost too much for a year, and would be good depth) But for now I am honestly thrilled to see him playing good, mostly solid, footy again :D !!!
  8. Unfortunately patience is a very rare virtue..... Generally, we as supporters don't like it if we have to have to wait and see on a kid. We seem to always expect immediate results and if someone doesnt come up to our expectations in our time frame we have a horrible tendency to write them off without any thought. The thing that tends not to be factored in here is that everyone is human and therefore different (yep, even footballers), and some need more time, opportunities, confidence, training, age, and experience to develop than others. That doesn't automatically make them useless now, or a waste in the future, no matter what we seem to unfortunately assume.
  9. I completely agree with this...... He has been in and out of the side for a long while now but has never been given a extended run to try and gain form or confidence, which honestly must be shot given the amount of times he has been dropped (some would say scapegoated) after a loss or a slightly sub-par personal performance. The thing is now should be the time to for him to be given every opportunity so we can see what he is actually capable of, as up until this point I am not convinced that any of us can make a truly informed opinion on what he can and can't achieve in this game given the fact he hasn't played enough to make that call. He has been dropped and I'll be honest he has not really put his best foot forward, but as Jaded has said there have been plenty of players given a hell of a lot more chances that Chris and I would think that in the very least he deserves the same chance to make the grade as plenty of others have got. And who knows what he may be able to achieve if he gains some confidence and someone shows some faith in his ability. And lets not forget he has not played at this grade for quite some time and it would take some time to make that step up. I didn't think he was too bad yesterday. He didn't set the world on fire, but he was hardly useless, and definitely deserves better than some of the comments being thrown at him around here.
  10. .........Or for those that blindly say "trade" I would think!!!
  11. Doesn't it always ?!!!
  12. But as I understand it one of the biggest reasons Channel 7 (and Channel 10 as a partnership) actually won the broadcast rights over Channel 9 is that it is a hell of a lot more capable of showing the games free-to-air into the northern states, thus increasing the promotion of AFL into its weaker markets. This is of course because Channel 7 is not committed to another code of football, which the AFL is in direct competition with. But in truth nothing has changed, it may even be worse given the number of individual games being broadcast on two different networks at the same time. And Channel 10 is not innocent of that particular crime either with them doing the same thing when they want a Swans game to go into Sydney. Nine (& Ten) had a good system in the previous broadcast rights period in that they would telecast the home team into the home state on free-to-air (Channel 10 still commit to live'ish Swans games into Sydney when played on Saturday nights). But this would happen even if Foxtel had the rights to that particular game. They obviously sat down and negotiated the terms and conditions like civil human beings not egocentric (which is quite contradictory given I am talking about Nine) maniacs. There was never the same game broadcast on both networks in previous years. But we still put up with games being shown at midnight weekly. The improvement is that Foxtel now has the live rights to the Friday night game (here), and does four games a weekend, but the free-to-air coverage is criminal. Of course a lot of this cross game broadcast issues stems directly from the fact that Channels 7 and 10 had their head up their arses during the whole media rights negotiation with Foxtel, who they absolutely needed to help pay the bills, and the unfortunate reality is that we are the ones who are paying the price.
  13. Demon suffers collapsed lung
  14. Amen to that, and to them for doing what they did..... Great post Allus, we should be standing and applauding these doctors. And you are totally right in that they deserve all the credit and praise from, not just us, but from football as a whole. Well said !!!
  15. It was a show of genuinely amazing courage from the young man, in what must have been horribly painful circumstances...... I will join the chorus in wishing him all the best for a full and speedy recovery. And to say thanks to those that took care of him so well. It is an absolute credit to the club, and to us as supporters, that our medical staff was capable of saving his life. Get well soon Ricky, and take care of yourself !!!
  16. Oh man, that is just about everyone who has ever commented on the sport..... And Shaw was never going to admit he was wrong. They seldom, if ever, do. But disagreeing with him doesn't automatically make him a moron!!!
  17. Miller was fine, not spectacular (which I think he will need to be, not to be criticised around here.......but that is my personal [censored]), but fine. He added some bulk to the defence, his spoils were good, and while his disposal was not perfect (and for the record I don't believe in perfection, especially in sport) it was no better or worse than some of the other folks populating our back line at this point in time. In the end I would like to see him left in defence for the rest of the year (although the club may not have any choice here, given we seem to be up to a "last man standing" situation) given that he should some good signs in what was his first game back in the seniors after a while at Sandy.
  18. This seems a touch more appropriate here....... Lyon to have say on new coach We can only hope !!!
  19. And again....... Ratten keen on Demons job
  20. Apropos......... Lyon to have say on new coach
  21. Yep, well said Jaded...... Congratulation to Simon on his debut match :D !!!
  22. And that should be the best aspect of the next, however many weeks...... There is nothing wrong with the team for Sunday, because to my way of thinking there will likely be a number of changes from week to week, as it is (or seems) more important to see what everyone is capable of (from the more senior players trying to hold down a spot, to the kids trying to gain one) than it is to win. As so many people have said 2008 has started, and while Lynden Dunn unfortunately didn't get a call up this week, I have little to no doubt he will definitely play for the Dees within the next couple of weeks at most, since hopefully that is what they are going to do from now until the end of the season. I truly hope for a win tomorrow, and while the injuries have continued to be an unfortunate underline to our season it does give the team the opportunity to have a bit of trial and error over the next few weeks. And I am really looking forward to watching, what is a pretty young side go out and give Carlton a very hefty shake. I also hope to see the best from all those that have been selected against Carlton and beyond, because the next few rounds are going to be very important to some who are trying to learn and make their way in this code, and to others as they try to make sure they put their best forward to remain on our list. Could be a fascinating second half !!!
  23. Maybe, but seriously sometimes a torn hammy is just that, a torn hammy  !!! Cousins pushed too hard too early This drives me nuts and I know this opinion won't be particularly popular with the masses, who enjoy watching this saga........ I realise that he has brought all this criticism on himself, but there has to be a point when enough is enough. Lets just leave him alone to do what he has to do to try to get back to his life, which he is actually entitled to do. And I realise that facts can get in the way of a good story, so do you think that we can put the imaginative conspiracy theories away for the time being. If he screws up again then by all means have another go, but until then (and if that should happen) even Ben Cousins should be left alone. Of course this is just my opinion.
  24. Congratulations to young Simon on getting his call up....... It will be a pleasure to finally see him play. And hopefully he will give us another reason to get a little more excited about our future :D !!!
  25. The situation seems to have positives both ways...... A player in the box, or helping in training may be able to give a different perspective, or see something different, to that of the coach. While having that player in the box, or helping at training can only be useful to his maturation as a footballer, at least from the mental aspect of things. And since Rivers is our leading defensive player this hopefully will benefit him (and it is a good endorsement), and the club in the long run. So it can, and with luck will, be a win-win situation !!!
