  1. The players also had a say in the leadership group back in 2012 didnt they? For the record here's that leadership group: Trengove, Grimes, James Frawley, Mitch Clark, Clint Bartram, Mark Jamar, Nathan Jones and Colin Garland
  2. Exactly the same as O'Maera, I dont get the obsession with these two given they are so injury prone
  3. Also Terlich and Oscar Mac in. And Stretch didnt play last week but was listed on teamsheet
  4. Thanks for the reports. Is there any timeframe for the return of JKH? Unless I've missed a Misson report haven't seen anything regarding his injury seriousness.
  5. It's a pretty good time to be Colin Garland right now, a 3 year extension, and now elevated to the leadership group. Well done Col, great rewards! Not bad for an 'ordinary player' if you believe what you read on here. Clearly the people that run the club have a much better handle on his importance to the group and onfield standing.
  6. A few random observations from the trek out to the 'Burn: That wind seriously affected the ball in the air today. A 3 goal wind advantage seemed about right. For us to score those goals in the 3rd quarter against it was crucial, and gave us confidence that despite trailing at the last break, we would win. Sam Frost is a long long way away from being in our best 22. Just 2 disposals up to the last change today just reinforces my view that he's an athlete masquerading as a footballer, he has very few footy smarts. We also saw a bit of the old Kent, with a largely anonymous game that he so often produces where he goes completely missing for large parts of the game. Plenty to like from Bugg in that first half he found plenty of footy and helped created the play this was a much more impressive showing from him. The playing surface itself was a treat today, albeit the rise in the middle of the ground made it tricky to see play on the far side at times. Roll on the saints!
  7. Acually no I didnt hear that, glad someone else was thinking along the same lines, and they have a decent reach audience on SEN! Appalling how they will seemingly be celebrating their misdeeds, I'm glad Colbert is constantly on their case
  8. Port started with one short on their bench, as Wingard pulled out in the warmup, and then we lost Brayshaw in the first 10 seconds, so both teams effectively had 7 on the bench.
  9. I go every week home or away in Melb, as AFL Membership gets me into away games without giving a penny to the home team, it's going to be a cringe-inducing sycophantic love in that's going to be hard to stomach. Can we organise for all Dees fans at the game to turn their backs when the MC instructs all the Essendrug drones to applaud their drug cheats as a form of protest?
  10. I'm beginning to think this will be like the mythical Hogan-Clark-Dawes forward line, that never actually trained let alone played together.
  11. How many players show the kind of aggression to get reported in their very first game? Not many I'd hesitate to guess, most would be nervous meek and probably would prefer to avoid physical contact until they're more accustomed to the speed and ferocity of senior football
  12. 1) Footys Back! 2) No Injuries Please 3) Get a good glimpse at the kids/fringe players 4) No Injuries Please! Dont care either way if we win or not as long as we're giving it a red hot crack. No-one thinks that Adelaide are a 100+ point better team than the Weagles, so all results in this series are to be taken with a very large handful of grains of salt..
  13. I assume #6 is Casey's James Munro? Not there but I know that's the number he wears.. Looked a likely type last year..
  14. Frost has played 3 games for us, Max King has barely got past the Casey reserves, and Oscar has played 2 games for us, and yet you've seen enough to make these calls? It's like everyone saying we had a new Paul Chapman when Tapscott debuted. I'm not sure why Fitz tried to banana that shot for goal last night, the commentators even said it was audacious against the breeze, as he's not too bad a kick for goal, and a career average of better than a goal a game, even while splitting time between defence and ruck, says he could kick a goal. Having said that he was one of the biggest teases of unfulfilled talent we've had, amongst a deluge of them.
  15. Ron Barassi returned as "The Messiah" with a 5 year plan to turn the club around in '81. He failed and yet is still seen as a favourite son, yet Lyon is hounded and vilified for being on a committee to choose two of our coaches, is that really the reason he is not universally loved?
  16. For the regular track watchers at this time of year, to assuage those concerned with the size of the rehab group at the moment, if Round 1 was next week, who would realistically be unavailable for selection? I assume it would be Lamumba, Dawes, Trengove and Petracca?
  17. Thanks for the reports as always Saty and ProDee I see in the Murdoch press today several teams had full-scale intra-club games today, albeit their NAB Challenge games are a week earlier than ours, any ideas as to when our first official Intra-Club hitout is scheduled to be?
  18. Interestingly they've also now been announced as the front of kit sponsor for Melbourne Victorys Asian champs league tilt so clearly looking to push their brand out there http://mvf.club/greenwood
  19. Personally, I'm just itching to see us in a 'competitive' hitout against someone other than ourselves. Last years road trip to see us beat the Dogs was a highly enjoyable experience, to hear the song again, figure out who all the new guys are, who's bulked up/got a new haircut/new tatoos etc etc. I think most of us are acutely aware that these are practice games and the results are largely inconsequential to the coaching staff. They may be more import for the marketing department as it makes it easier to sell memberships if there is genuine optimism about what undecideds are seeing in the first kicks in anger. I'll be going to all the games in Vic as per every other year, full of optimism and enjoying the last vestiges of summer, bring it on!
  20. The smile that came across Robbos dial as he hears the siren sound, ball in hand to kick his umpteenth goal was magic!
  21. We should move all of our home games to the Docklands in retaliation for this cruel snub...
  22. Like last year when the 'spitter' term got outed, I'm sure there are lots of newfangled 'roles' or set piece plays that coaches are always trying to invent. No doubt these two roles could be called something else at another club. Thanks for the report TGR!
  23. Was standing under the old coaches box in the Outer for that Rnd 22. Will never forget the roar that went up around the crowd as people listened intently to the Hawks-Cats game to hear the Hawks were up!
