I continually said if we can scrape enough wins to be 50/50 by the time Hogan and Gawn got back, we would come home with a wet sail and make finals. The fact we are 6-5, and Gawn and Hogan's returns are imminent, I don't see any reason we can't win 7 of the last 11 games. I don't fear any other side in the comp. In saying that, of course it would be very Melbourne like to drop a few games to lesser opposition.

His consistency has been remarkable for a 19 year old. His quietest games have still been 25+ touch games, with plenty of tackles, clearances etc.
-
We saw it differently, no problem in that. I thought the 50/50s and non-decisions went in our favour. Doesn't take away from a gutsy comeback though.
-
I thought OMac was on the chopping block when we bring a ruckman back, but he was very good after quarter time today.
-
I thought we had a good run from the umps personally. Couldn't give a [censored] though, suck eggs Collingwood. I have watched my fair share of games where I thought the umps cost us the game, such as vs North in Tassie last year, so I'm not complaining about today.

Tom McDonald is playing like a skinny kid. Use your size ffs, both on the ground and in marking contests. Lewis is the other concern for me. We need 18 players defending manically, and he is just floating around for mine. We need a complete 180 in the middle to be a chance, but I just can't see it against Grundy and Collingwood's good midfield.

For those complaining about St Kilda's 3 Friday nights. Just remember we have a couple of pretty big "marquee slots" on top of our 1 Friday night game, in Anzac Eve and Queens Bday.

I'm also laughing at how he is apparently a "spud". Overpaid, yes. A mercenary, probably. Injury prone, seems so. But he is not a spud when up and going. Im not necessarily saying we should get him, but if the price and his body are right, there's no doubting he fills a hole in our list.

Craziness really. Even posters on here could see he was crocked. He really has very right to ask some tough questions of the club. And let's not forget the farcical trade to Richmond which fell through due to the medical.

I wonder if Trenners will get another go elsewhere if he is indeed gone like most of us think. We probably have one of the strongest inside mid brigades in the comp. Hard not to see someone taking a free hit with him.

Scully and Trengove were the obvious 1-2, so I'm not going to hang BP out for that. Where we seemed to go wrong was the amount of picks in the teens we butchered through the years. So many nearly players who just didn't cut it in the bad environment of the time e.g. Gysberts, Tapscott, Strauss, Blease etc.

Origin is a great spectacle in league, obviously being the pinnacle of the sport. But I agree, I am not remotely interested in anything that would resemble the NBA all star game. Complete waste of time.
-
Pick 14 for Mitchell is an absolute steal though. Luckily they paid overs for a crocked O'Meara to somewhat balance it out.

Replying to earlier comments on Derm, one thing he said, that sums up my dislike for him perfectly, was when the goal umpire got collected, and he crapped on about how people wouldn't realise how hard the balls are pumped up in "league footy" and how much it would of hurt. Anyone who has played at any level knows how much that would hurt, but Dermie always talks to the viewers like they are idiots if they haven't played "league footy". Glad that's off my chest.

If Hogan is ready, he comes in, TMac settles back in defence, and OMac comes out. Salem in for Bugg, or maybe Wagner, although thought he did pretty well yesterday. But Salem has to come in.
-
I just wanted us to scrap some wins to put us in an ok spot before Hogan and Gawn are back, and we did that at least. Jonesy grabbed the game by the balls in the 3rd quarter. He wasn't alone, but that was a huge quarter in the context of our season.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Forest Demon replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
What a pickup. Having a beautiful left foot kick coming off half back has been extremely important. -
I tend to agree. There are a few high draft picks that just fall into that nice, average player for mine. McGrath is another one from Essendon. Nice player, but won't be a star. Someone like Heeney is far more explosive than Mills imo.

Really happy for him and the great job he has done. Fact remains, he is still undersized and we need Gawn back desperately. But no way the Peddy Bear is the one to make way. -
Really? It was a bit silly, but there was hardly any force whatsoever, I honestly didn't even contemplate it being a suspension.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY

The poster was talking about last season when we were into Hibberd and Hurley big time, but as you said, he ended up re-signing. Pity it didn't come off because Hurley is an excellent player. -

Ben Brown isn't the only key forward to have his way with us this year. -
Our best is better than theirs, but they are very consistent with their application. So no, we aren't a better team than them.

Free Kick Against Christian Salem in the last quarter
Forest Demon replied to solly21's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think the decision was high as he sort of grabbed his head. I too assumed it was our free for holding. It was bad, but that Hibberd deliberate call potentially takes the cake.
