I support the away strip worn when necessary, but only when applied evenly across the whole competition. If they aren't going to force some of the 'bigger' clubs to wear them when there is a clash, then we should rock out in the blue and red every week.
-
Exactly, if they were desperate for Magner to be playing, he would be. They obviously aren't for one of the above two reasons.
-
Ah yeah, good point. Well guess it isn't overly suprising then is it.
-
A little suprised Magner is not in (assuming fit). Not that I am a huge fan, I thought his body and attack on the footy would be needed in the middle considering the lack of experience in that area of the ground. Jetta another who I thought might get a game. Hoping Strauss has a good start to the season at Casey as I think he can offer something on a HBF long term.

Where is our next ruckman going to come from?
Forest Demon replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think the Hannath ship sailed the moment freo drafted him which is unfortunate. A lot is resting on Gawn's huge body holding up. After being so keen on Hannath, it shows Neeld is still very keen to get another ruck in, so I would expect to see one come in through one of the drafts later this year, and not an 18 year old bean pole which is good. -
Apart from the obvious, for some reason I absolutely hate North Melbourne. Probably has a little to do with the pummellings over the last few years, but there is more to it and that.

Exactly my point Old Dee. He is decent, nothing better, nothing worse.

My point is that Sylvia gets judged far more harshly than others due to this perceived talent or potential, whatever you want to call it. And although Sylvia has some good traits as a footballer, he is also lacking in other areas that will hold him back from reaching the great heights many want him to, that being things such as his agility and sideways movement, speed, and the high level endurance required to play as an A-grade midfielder. Whether these things are in his control, we can't judge from where we are. Sylvia had a good second half of last year, and was actually quite consistent, but most of Demonland were unable to judge without bias and continue to bang on about his unfulfilled potential and apparent poor attitude. As I said he averaged 23 disposals and a goal a game, with good disposal efficiency. Any of our mids, beside Nathan Jones, can't stack up to that. To say that his serviceability is questionable is so far wide of the mark it isn't funny, but that thought seems to be the majority thought around these forums.
-
Sorry bub, you have a dig at people going on about his potential after 3 paragraphs of doing the exact same thing yourself. Sylvia is what he is, and while he isn't the star we hoped he might become, he is still a very serviceable player, but unfortunately he could do everything bar win a brownlow and most on here wouldn't be happy.
-
People need to let go of the fantasy he can be a star. But he is already a very serviceable player. Last year, he came back from a broken back in pre season and after the bye, went on to average 23 disposals and a goal a game, and we know he uses it well. Hardly the dud he gets painted as.

Geez there are some stupid threads and comments regarding Sylvia on this forum.

NAB CHALLENGE: GOLD COAST SUNS v MELBOURNE
Forest Demon replied to Gorgoroth's topic in Melbourne Demons
Also interested to hear about parking. I'll be driving down from Brisbane and need to make a swift getaway after the game. Any info would be appreciated. Also planning on taking the two kids (very young) to their first game, so hoping there is a nice hill or other grassed area to chuck a rug down. -
One thing I have learnt on this forum is that if you have an opinion on Jack Watts, you are better of keeping it to yourself, because no matter what it is, good or bad, or how correct you are, there will be a few who try to shoot you down in flames.

NAB CHALLENGE: GOLD COAST SUNS v MELBOURNE

Good for me if nothing else being in Brisbane -
Didn't see today's game, but he is clearly not the player he was 2 years ago which isn't good. He may not be our biggest problem but I want him to be the dominant full back in the comp he looked he was going to become, or already was 2 years ago. Obviously doesn't help when the ball is coming in every minute or two though.

Last pre-season, we started ok and then got walloped in our last 2 and it set the tone for the start of the year. The wins and losses aren't important, but the effort and performance is, and if we get a 10 goal hiding here today as it looks like we are going to, it doesn't look good for Round 1, let alone when we play some decent teams. Knowing how much Neeld talks about stopping the rot when the opposition get a run, I think he will be seething at that quarter. We have to find a way to get our hands on the footy and control the game a bit more. Hopefully they can make amends in the second half.

Matt Burgan is running a North Korea style media campaign. Only reports on the good stuff. If you were only watching his updates you would think we were up by 5 goals.

10 goal turn around in this quarter. Woeful.
-
No excuse. Should have made more of the breeze when we had it if that is the case.
-
Ridiculously, no. St Kilda still only the 1 inside 50.
-
According to the AFL site, no radio or tv for the game. Absolute horse [censored]. Us interstaters will appreciate any live updates and post match reports we can get from the Demonland faithful. Everyone have a good day, and hopefully another win to keep building some momentum for Round 1.
-
I am pretty certain the AFL plans the last round of matches to be played for everyone who didn't make the GF. Seeing as we have played twice in Melbourne, expect to be shafted interstate or rural.
-
I hate most rule chanes that have made the game a mess with free kicks getting paid willy nilly where nobody has any idea which way thy are going. But this actually makes sense to me. Although it doesn't excuse KB and Demetriou's behaviour.
-
Nobody needs to calm down munga, because nobody is going over the top. He is currently borderline best 22, and yesterday may have put him in front of pedersen.

Dead set, the Sylvia talk on this forum is nothing short of ridiculous.
