  1. I don't think picking it up was an option with how hot they are with htb now. Risked a free dead in front of goal. I think he made the right choice, just kicked it too hard. Nev knows he's not getting any faster too. Was it Cameron on his hammer?
  2. This is all about strategy and coaching rather than umpiring. Surely we must know that we have the best tap ruckman in the business and teams are going to concede and scrag him and our midfield whole covering the odd free kick. So what is our counter strategy? We don't seem to have one. Yes raise it with the umps and the media but We should have multiple strategies and we should train for it. E.g If you're being tackled and haven't yet taken possession, maybe don't take it. Block and Shepard for each other. Maybe target a slow midfielder from the opposition and have Gawn tap it down his throat and have Viney bury him multiple times. Protect Gawn at marking contests where we can. I dunno, mix it up a bit.
  3. There was a deliberate free paid against Nev for toeing the ball back towards goal and over the line. It was a one on one and the Lions player was on his hammer. I reckon he was afraid to slow down and pick it up as he'd get pinged for htb. It's a worrying sign.
  4. Ooooof no. Good much better. I can't keep up!
  5. Just wait for Thursday night. Umpiring will hit a whole new level of ludicrous driven by the Port fans.
  6. Great suggestions. Yes Viney actually got a kick off the ground at one point while a lions player was still sitting on him from a previous tackle. Protect the ball carrier. Give them a chance to make the play and dispose of it.
  7. I totally agree, tucked his elbow in ready for impact with Jettas head. Head ducked or not, you can't do that. The commentators just said Jetta (a veteran player) needs to change his game. Why? He was going in to collect the ball. Why are we not protecting players going for the ball? It's the same for a lot of the htb decisions now. You're better off holding off to tackle and be rewarded.
  8. So true Lucifer . We just seem to be so dumb and reactive on and off the field. This was a double whammy too. Maxs other great attribute are the grabs he takes around the gound. After so much rain we would have known that his marking power would be reduced as well but we didn't seem to have plans to address this either. When you watch the last 90 seconds when we lost possession and couldn't even man up to try and turn it over, we seem so one dimensional on and off the field.
  9. Really good point. Too many Lions supporters there?
  10. This was the most frustrating thing for me all night (apart from the maggots). We lose possession with 90 seconds to go and then don't man up. It's such a fundamental thing to do and we just let them pass it around. Why are we so daft? P.s. Viney carried us most of the night and gave us the chance to win the game I reckon.
  11. Jetta handpasses and still htb. Gerard you're a [censored]
  12. Good to see Milkshake get an early one. Build his game up.
  13. We'll done gold coast and the afl. That's really ordinary. That will keep you socially distanced. It's not and enjoyable walk either. Ubertime?
  14. Good to see the saints win. We always struggle to beat them when they're pus. Will be a challenge to beat them this year. They're playing good footy. Port are definitely gettable.
  15. Swans getting gifted frees all over the ground in a 2 point game as well.
