  1. Yep. Similar to running into the Dons in 2000. Those sides don't come along that often. I will say if you look at the list we had it was probably good enough to beat the Eagles. We had significant injuries and some patches of unexplained poor form. There are some excerpts of great plays in this vid. Charles goal is one of them. I forget how good Lyon was at times and boy we could have killed it with a Jakovich type this year. It was funny when Jakovich played against his brother, much like Gus and his. No love lost on the footy ground.
  2. Yep them damn weagles were a good side. I miss the fabulous Febey boys.
  3. Oh what memories. The famous names. What a fwd line up luxury.
  4. We need to step it up. We both agree that injury has depleted our fwd line for some time. As such I think it's a big risk to hope Bbb and Tmac will come good. Despite a good season, Milk is getting on in years. Petty has his foot issues too. Fritta ditto. I hope we can find at least one, asap. I think Jvr will have a bumper season. He just needs to be a little more careful with his aggression. Would love too see a fully unencumbered Petty play fwd all year.
  5. And yet I really believe that if Gus wasn't so unfairly knocked out we probably would have beaten the pies. Our defence has been the best about. I really feel positive about next year. Just hope we can find a decent back up ruck and at least one experienced forward.
  6. Absolutely. We would all be watching the Gf replay.
  7. Disagree. Not to bang on about Tmac but he had no impact in either final so for me it's hard to see us being worse off. And Laurie wasn't ready to play a whole prelim after only five Afl games ever.
  8. It's a fair point. One could argue however that with Bbb and Tmac the writing was on the wall 18 months ago with injuries and form. It's not solely incumbent on Goody but did we really uncover every stone to find alternatives or just think that the Grundy/ Gawn experience would cover them? I think we were lucky that Milk came back from the twos with a nice purple patch. I guess as for recruiting, I don't really know. I do accept your point that it's near impossible to win a finals campaign with the players available and we did well all things being considered.
  9. Grundy,Schache or even Tommo. I know they are not great choices but Tmac was completely cooked. I get that most of our finals failings hinged on just plain dumb luck, I still think selections of Tmac and Laurie were not the best.
  10. Not entirely convinced of Goody doing alright. At least not his selections in the finals. Laurie was a huge mistake and Tmac a second chance after the Prelim wasn't a good call for me. And ultimately as head coach our lack of kicking goals skills falls upon his shoulders. Not like it's a new problem either. After losing on straight sets last year, I would have thought Goody might have been more careful with finals selections but nup. I don't think I'm being harsh. I think he's done a great job overall but I'm just saying I think he dropped the ball this year.
  11. He wasn't right in last year's finals also when he actually played. Been a great pick up but maybe it's past him now. I do have more hope for him than Tmac though.
  12. Disagree covering Petty. His is a super star in the making if his body holds up better. Plus I know he's only played a few games fwd but ultimately that's his best role and we would struggle to find a replacement for him there. We have no serviceable tall feds apart from him. Maybe Smith but he's not super tall or as good. Hope we can keep him.
  13. Can we do a poll if KC has any clue about anything?
  14. Their still going especially in Nsw. They had " Show me some discipline." "Alone with you tonight." " Happy man." Some great riffs amongst those three.
  15. What happened to the last saints mid we picked up?
  16. My earliest recollection of gambling. I reckon I only got about two or three as well. And I bought a ton. I used to buy them from the funds of bottle collecting. I went through a stage where much to my parent's ire, I hoarded empty bottles around the side of the house instead of returning them. Turned out to be quite fortunate as one night the refund went from ten to twenty cents. My portfolio had doubled and it was sunnyboys and comics galore. One thing of yesteryear I really miss is the fireworks. Joy robbers. Probably for the best. Oh what fun they were.
  17. I loved the pineapple slice. But paddle pops were pretty good. I remember just a plain icy pole cost only 5 cents. Probably costs five times that every hour today just to keep em frozen.
  18. https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/673350/peters-barney-banana-ice-cream Maybe better than paddle pops.
  19. As a kid that was probably the most expensive ice cream ever purchased. Probably returned three or four empty coke bottles as a down payment. I won't mention Mr whippy or uncle Bitters will probably chime in.
