Can we talk about coke yo yos soon?
-
It would be funny if not true.
-
And enter Uncle Bitters.

Nice words re Monbon. Ditto. As for singers, I saw a combined Simple minds, Devo and the church concert ten years ago. Jim Kerr really struggled with volume and hitting the same notes. Devo were still very good. A much underated band.

Jvr is a natural forward with all the aggression and athleticism to be a perfect cjf. I hope we get a full season of Petty at ff . It was a good move from Goody to play him fwd ( eventually) and I hope we resist the temptation to move him back. Im frustrated by our lack of finding another established fwd and also another defender to replace Petty down back. Has Tommo moved on?

Deflation.

Twas I. A voracious collector of empty coke bottles, Leeds , Fanta and a few others. Lived in St Kilda East amongst a lot of flats . High density area and great pickings. Made more with bottles than my morning paper round. I hated that round especially on Saturday with the bloody Age. 5 bucks a week and usually had to pay for damaged flower pots. Doh. And it was so cold and dark at 5.30 am. The alarm sent shivers down my spine. As mentioned I got lazy returning the bottles and stacked them around the side of our Westbury grove house. When they went from 10 cents to 20 it was like winning Powerball. Apologies to the owner of the Newsagency for not turning my colleagues in for all the smokes they pinched.

Going back a fair ways. -
It's very hard to correct poor kicking at goal. It's often a psychological issue for some players. We have a few offenders and we all know who they are. Ironically they are great play makers and they often make up for it in other areas. That said there is nothing worse than a full-time fwd that kicks poorly. Sadly Bbb, Tmac, Milk and Fritta who are all very accurate spent a lot of time injured this year. Thankfully Jvr is also very accurate and so is Petty although the latter has only had a small kicking at goal sample. Perhaps a psychologist is needed as much as kicking specialist.

Yep. It makes our last two years harder to fathom as both cats last year and pies were beatable with our best team all firing. Gotta bring it home in 24, no ifs and or buts. As much as I've always cried to just see only one flag , it's only given me a desire for more. Plus being able to see one in person would be so much better. I do believe in flag windows and and think depending on what we do about our fwd line deficiencies, we have a couple more years. Players like Salem, May, Gawn and Viney won't be the same in three years.
-
Yep. Similar to running into the Dons in 2000. Those sides don't come along that often. I will say if you look at the list we had it was probably good enough to beat the Eagles. We had significant injuries and some patches of unexplained poor form. There are some excerpts of great plays in this vid. Charles goal is one of them. I forget how good Lyon was at times and boy we could have killed it with a Jakovich type this year. It was funny when Jakovich played against his brother, much like Gus and his. No love lost on the footy ground.

Yep them damn weagles were a good side. I miss the fabulous Febey boys.
-
Oh what memories. The famous names. What a fwd line up luxury.
-
We need to step it up. We both agree that injury has depleted our fwd line for some time. As such I think it's a big risk to hope Bbb and Tmac will come good. Despite a good season, Milk is getting on in years. Petty has his foot issues too. Fritta ditto. I hope we can find at least one, asap. I think Jvr will have a bumper season. He just needs to be a little more careful with his aggression. Would love too see a fully unencumbered Petty play fwd all year.
-
And yet I really believe that if Gus wasn't so unfairly knocked out we probably would have beaten the pies. Our defence has been the best about. I really feel positive about next year. Just hope we can find a decent back up ruck and at least one experienced forward.
-
Would like to know the full scoop.
-
Absolutely. We would all be watching the Gf replay.
-
You got me.
-
Disagree. Not to bang on about Tmac but he had no impact in either final so for me it's hard to see us being worse off. And Laurie wasn't ready to play a whole prelim after only five Afl games ever.
-
It's a fair point. One could argue however that with Bbb and Tmac the writing was on the wall 18 months ago with injuries and form. It's not solely incumbent on Goody but did we really uncover every stone to find alternatives or just think that the Grundy/ Gawn experience would cover them? I think we were lucky that Milk came back from the twos with a nice purple patch. I guess as for recruiting, I don't really know. I do accept your point that it's near impossible to win a finals campaign with the players available and we did well all things being considered.
-
Grundy,Schache or even Tommo. I know they are not great choices but Tmac was completely cooked. I get that most of our finals failings hinged on just plain dumb luck, I still think selections of Tmac and Laurie were not the best.
-
Not entirely convinced of Goody doing alright. At least not his selections in the finals. Laurie was a huge mistake and Tmac a second chance after the Prelim wasn't a good call for me. And ultimately as head coach our lack of kicking goals skills falls upon his shoulders. Not like it's a new problem either. After losing on straight sets last year, I would have thought Goody might have been more careful with finals selections but nup. I don't think I'm being harsh. I think he's done a great job overall but I'm just saying I think he dropped the ball this year.
-
He wasn't right in last year's finals also when he actually played. Been a great pick up but maybe it's past him now. I do have more hope for him than Tmac though.
-
The world is flat.

Disagree covering Petty. His is a super star in the making if his body holds up better. Plus I know he's only played a few games fwd but ultimately that's his best role and we would struggle to find a replacement for him there. We have no serviceable tall feds apart from him. Maybe Smith but he's not super tall or as good. Hope we can keep him.
