  1. take the risk? jeffy straight back in. Prodigal son returns, kicks 4. Just as he did against Richmond anzac eve 2016
  2. I know he wasn't top 2 but Gus spent the first 3 weeks of last year in the 2s and went on to have a break out season finishing 3rd in the Brownlow. Might not be a genuine elite player (yet) but the old school drop to VFL still has purpose. I'm not entirely in favour of dropping talent particularly when we are in such a vulnerable spot. But trac needs confidence. He has arrogance a plenty right up until the ball comes near then he suddenly looks timid. He should be flattening opponents to get to the footy. He's big and strong but doesn't act like it. A stint in the 2s could do him good
  3. Obviously if May is forced out by injury Hore (or Wagner) comes back in but other than that I'd say no change. That might sound mad to some but I don't think there's any player out there that can come in to really help the situation. Anyone with half a brain could see that the problem was in the front half. And with Hannan, Garlett, AVB and J.Smith all injured there's not much I can see that will improve our forwardline, maybe T.Smith but he's coming off his own injury problems. Pruess is a ruckman not a forward so unless they really want to drop one of TMac/Weid he won't help our forward woes infact a slow ruckman could potentially make things worse. Wagner and Spargo were tried and failed a week earlier so if it really worth bring either back after 1 week in the 2s? That said... Given the theme around here seems to make more radical changes... Out: May(inj), Trac, Sparrow, ANB In: Hore, T.Smith, Stretch, C.Wagner (Fritch to move to forward/mid for Sparrow to allow Stretch to play on the wing.)
  4. We all know Kane deliberately goes about trying to be the most hyperbolic media personality but he's not entirely wrong. I didn't mind the tactic, Max should have been better and the midfielders needed to stand up for their man. That said, preventing the designated ruckman from reaching the ruck contest as they did 5 or 6 times is meant to be a free kick.
  5. There's no reason to panic if we lose this week. I think we need to scrape our way to 3-3 then we'll be ok. Essendon, Sydney, St Kilda games are going to be the must wins. From there we can still build a strong season. If we win this week or the Richmond game that's a bonus. Having said that I still think that Kadina Park suits us because it's so skinny. Port exposed us on the spread. That is much more difficult in Geelong without the width. A win this week would not be a shock. The only question if we can win contested footy, If we do that we win.
  6. We've shown our cards too soon with ANB in the ruck. That was our secret weapon
  7. Don't get greedy. Just argue it medium to low. Not concussed, unassisted from the ground and "did not return to field" it's unreasonable to use this as evidence in a JLT game when Clubs frequently pull players. Brisbane played 25 players, there was no reason for them to put him back on
  8. This is what happens when negotiations drag on. Take what you can get before other deals get in the way Adelaide sends 8 and 16 to freo for Neale to bris and 5 to Adelaide... And maybe a shuffle of later picks That's a decent deal for all and makes May a whole lot harder of we only get 8 and 11 for Hogan. Suns will want more than 8
  9. I like the basics but it Needs more complications: Melb F1st -> GWS Freo F1st -> GWS GWS Lobb 14 & 25 -> Freo Melb Hogan -> Freo Freo 5&6 -> Melb GWS in: 2 F1st GWS out: 14, 25, Lobb Why? They know deals for Sheil and Setterfield will net 1st and 2nd round picks helping them stay in this years draft and gives them a super strong 3 1st round picks to use/deal in 2019 (possibly 4 F1st if bombers offer that much) Freo in: Hogan, Lobb, 14, 25 Freo out: 5, 6, F1st Why? get their 2 star Keys while staying in this year's first round. Keeping in mind with these inclusions they will be expecting to improve making that future pick likely in the 6-10 range (before any FA comp picks). Having their second pick in the 70s it's also weak position so pick 25 has higher than face value for freo. Melb in: 5,6 Melb Out: Hogan, F1st Why? Lose a star and exit the 1st round for 2019 but they gain the 2 picks they are after and allows them to deal for May and bring in another young talent a year earlier.
  10. Because it might get the deal done? And gets us what we want out of a Hogan trade. Obviously my preference is to keep him but if that can't happen then we need to make the trade work for us. Not sit there kicking and screaming "waiting for them to blink" It's about what you get in. And I think that ins list, vastly improves our position for this year
  11. We won't get 4 and 5 straight up. But.. what if we offered our 2019 1st round as well? I assume the club will be aiming top 4-6 so worst case that's pick 13/14 OUT: Hogan, 1st 2019; IN: picks 4 and 5 Then... We use picks 4 and 33 to secure May kolajaisni and some kind of steak knife pick in the 40s All up: Out: Hogan, 2019 1st Rd, pick 33 In: May, Kolla, pick 5 and the steak knives
  12. One of our biggest strengths is our depth and it would appear we are losing as much as possible in the one year... Tyson fills a role when a first choice mid is unavailable. We need plays like this
  13. Jesse Is a great young forward, but this thread is getting into some Essendon like Demands. Some of these trade demands would make it the biggest trade price of all time... I'm not sure he is that good, no matter how much we want him to be. If we somehow can get May and a first round pick (even if it was early teens) that would be a pretty big win. Keeping in mind we paid a "huge price" for Lever and that was picks 10 and 15. Some people are talking 2 picks in the top 5 or 6?? Freo would have to be completely incompetent to pay that. Just wait a year till he's out of contract and see how that navicular pulls up... knowing Melbourne's history with foot injuries he might not play all year then they can get him for a bargain. "out of contract and injury riddled"
  14. We are also havent beaten them during a solar eclipse
  15. Last year we were 9th after beating the giants and never got higher. The year before we were in the 8 after beating the Suns but fell straight out.
  16. I still have my eyes on the Giants, even if they are a few steps ahead of us. They took all the best young players when we needed them most. I'd love to reach our peak and start to push their AFL gifted talent vs our hard earned talent. But right now it will have to be the saints, they are the comparison so the rivalry is kinda being forced upon us.
  17. Bomber Thompson: "We need to find out what actually happened not just believe whats in the report" Paul Little: "Theres no time for that" [censored] with a chairman with an attitude like that i have no idea why they had any issues.
  18. Tyson is underrated by many around here. Kelly has some qualities we need and Bontempelli is a freak but Tyson is still among the best we have and still has improvement left in him. I expect if he gets himself right after this knee issue he will be way up near the top of the B&F again.
  19. 2 days ago I would have agreed with you but I think now the Hibbard and Lewis deals are in, unless we can get an overwhelimgly good deal we should secure all our picks next year leaving us in a strong position to draft or trade next year with a full list of 2017 and 18 draft picks
  20. If we keep pick 29 I'd like to see us use it on a kid with a massive tank who can play on a wing (we still only have stretch). I'd suffer the ruck/fwd deficency for 2017 and then look to trade one in next year as we aim for the 2018 top 4. If we pick a kid fwd/ruck he might take 3-5 years to be AFL ready
  21. Possibly, it might help but who? Tis is the order as it sits around us. 27. Richmond 28. Collingwood 29. Melbourne 30. Port Adelaide 31. GWS Richmond, Collingwood and Port all have no intention of drading away from this years draft if anything they want to trade up the draft and the new pick count rules messes with our chances to trade with the Giants for points
  22. Oh its very clearly a fair deal as an isolated player for pick. But as a whole our trade period would look much better with Hibberd, Lewis, 29 and 57 than with Hibberd, Lewis and 57. But when push comes to shove an established player is better than a 29 lottery ticket. With over 24 hours left I would say we still have time to negotiate
  23. They struggled to play finals before they were all suspended. And while some will get right back into it easily but some will probably take some time to get back to AFL level. I would think they have a chance in 2018 but not 2017
