  1. Dead set. If I meet another demon supporter in a pub they are instantly my new best friend for the night and will speak to them about our great club til the cows come home. and although we may disagree on a couple players or topics we still have a good laugh over a beer. Jump onto here or facebook, we are fighting like 10 year olds who go for Collingwood and Carlton. It's 2:17AM here where I am in the middle of the ocean, so it would be 1:17AM back home on a sunday night. Don't some of you guys need sleep for your jobs to get to in the morning instead of fighting over petty things about the one club we all love?
  2. I reckon 4 of these would be kinda cool, all saying "Love Melbourne" or something like that in their respective languages of Mandarin, Vietnamise, Japanese and English The asian lettering tends to run down, not left to right, make them blue background with red writing. have them fly 2 either side of the goals.
  3. Look to some of the NBA chinese new year designs for inspiration. They have some really well done designs and if we can keep spreading our supporter base to this kind of diversity we may even gain a bigger Chinese following. I know if I lived in a foreign nation who didn't speak English as their first language and there was a supporter base who accomodated I would be more inclined to lean towards them. Kind of amazing that it hasn't been done in our marketing department in recent years to be honest, I feel like that the Asian community in Melbourne is a massive untapped rescource.
  4. It is impossible not to love the big guy. Can we organise a "Fear the beard" day some round this year where we all sit in the cheer squad with fake beards? kinda like the Richie Beanaud guys at the Sydney test and the blue wigs at the NSW state of origin games? Imagine an entire bay of melbourne fans wearing fake beards. Brilliant.

  6. I will be doing what my name suggests, spending it out in the middle of the ocean reading Demon land and the Demons website for hours a day as I don't get a chance to watch any live footy haha
  7. An in-depth analysis of Melbourne Demons’ best roster, chances of playing finals footy this AFL season Just had a read of this article by Ben Gibson, couldn't tell you much about the bloke, can't tell you if he is a Demons fan or not but this is a really good write up on us. His best 22 for this year is more than fair and is surprisingly insightful. Reading all this positive press for our boys is not only great for us as supporters but will give our playing group a really good morale and confidence booster. Looking forward to a belter of a year with our current group. NOTE* 1 omission who wasn't mentioned in this list was M . Jones, while he will never be a Viney or Brayshaw, I have been really happy with how he has been managed by Roos and Goodwin and respect the clubs patience with him, granted in the past he has had some absolute howlers there is something about him that I really enjoy when he plays well, the kid isn't afraid to kick a goal or 2 either. Hope this year is kind to him and he can really come out of his shell, I think he was only on the field for 11 minutes on Sunday and managed 6 possessions prior to his head knock. Good on him.
  8. Yeah, very true, I want to see ANb and stretch develop but I feel like they might be 12 months off regular call up status. Dawes disappoints me considering he is on a good income and seems wasteful to have him sitting in Casey but to be honest his performance hasn't been that of a key forward or big man up front. I feel bad for Grimes but fact is, he is a product of the bad old days and come seasons end he might need to dust off his resume and look for a new job. I think our strong bench will provide a fresh intensity all thoughout the games this year and our entire bench is capable of kicking 7-8 goals between them each game. And Frost...Hmm, what to do with Mr Frost, you are right, I am at a loss as to where to play him, perhaps use him as a Jeremy Howe kind of utility hopefully a full season this year can really show us the way ahead with him.
  9. Oh, okay, I was wrong, sorry.
  10. Don't we have some burning questions for round 1 (And early rounds) folks?! 1. Wagner/Hunt OUT, ANB/Stretch, IN? 2. O-Mac OUT, Lumumba, IN? 3. When Dawes is fit, do we play him in the same team as Pedo? (Personally, no, one or the other, and I much prefer Pedo) 4. Who is our bench?...I think our bench this year will be the defining factor in a good amount of games, beasts such as Harmes, Kent, Oliver, Kennedy, Bugg potentially starting off the bench and providing late night grunt and run coupled with a pretty potent goal sense will be crucial. 5. Is there room in a full strength back line for Grimes? Love being spoilt for choice but lord all mighty do we have some frustratingly delightful deecisions to make.
  11. Only Demons supporters could be unhappy with a bloke kicking 2-2 in a winning side. The kid has one "Average" game in a NAB cup game and the toys are being thrown out the cott. It also doesn't help when a club legend turns around and labels a kids efforts of 2-2 "disgraceful" Everyone has room for improvement but some people really need to pull their heads in.
  12. Kennedy, Bugg, Oliver, VDB, Kent...From now on, they will be known as "The rat pack" Those 5 boys are going to give out some serious headaches this year.
  13. Hoping it isn't anything to be worried about and he has taken himself off because he knows the game is wrapped up.
  14. Game, set, match. 2 wins on the trott at Etihad. St Kilda Hoodoo Broken. 4 Wins on the trott. Broken the 100 point mark. Good day at the office.
  15. I am not watching the game but some of the things I am reading in regards to Oscar Mac and Wagner here are a bit tough. The blokes arent 50 game or even 10 game players at AFL level, for a team who has spent the last 10 years near the bottom of the table I think some of us supporters are expecting these kids to be Chris Judds straight off the bat. On the flip side...Great to see Kennedy, Bugg, and Oliver securing themselves for round 1. Throw in Dunn, H, Brayshaw, VDB, and (Hopefully he is true to his hype) Petracca there and we have quite the handy team!
  16. Harmes has 0-4 Don't care, today thats 4 points, in 2 weeks that could be 24. He is one of the most dangerous looking new kids we have had in years, still young, he will have a blinder of a year
  17. They might have won by 40 od points but no Cameron and beating the Lions isn't anything to be too happy about. Hopefully we come out of today with a win and no injuries.
  18. I have spent the last 3 weeks at sea and will miss round 1 due to being at sea also so I only get to read the in depth articles and personal analysis' on here. I would love to see J. Watts keep doing what he has done round 1 and 2. Oliver to continue whilst also staying out of the unpires report cards. Kent and Harmes to give us belters today. and T Mac play with confidence and security in his kicking. No injuries will be optimal. Pedersen to really take his spot with 2 hands and make Dawes work like hell to even think about getting back into the side We can't play catch up footy like we did the last 2 rounds, although we won, those could have been very easily 0-2. I want to see (Or at least read about) 4 quarters of hard nosed, smart footy.
  19. I am quite fond of the bold simplicity of the logo. As a kid in the late 90's and early 00's my room was covered in red and blue. And as a kid who was so fanatical, I always enjoyed drawing the logo or emblem when I was given the chance. Think of how much more simple this logo is for the kids to draw and enjoy, I doubt even Michael Angelo himself could put together the former logo with ease. New logo looks bold, and edgy, like a sporting club logo, not a complicated watermark that would look right at home on the letterhead of an insurance income firm. Also, whoever is in charge of the merch production this year did a bag up job, that white guernsey we wore against the doggies on Sunday looks so sleek to me and the grey training t-shirt with the NB logo on the right shoulder will be a frequent in my gym clothing rotation.
  20. I rate him as an educator and as a leader, however, Cam Pedersen is all the Chris Dawes we need. Cam has shown this pre-season that he is on track for his best season with us, if he keeps up his form, leadership and intensity, I don't think Dawes will be given much of a chance. Which is great!, to be spoilt for choice is always better than to have a forced hand, I can see Dawes starting off the bench at times this year but don't see him walking into the side like past years if Pedersen stays true.
  21. Long time reader, first time poster (Although I am pretty active on the Melbourne Demons News Facebook page.) I have been having a look at the first 12 rounds up to the bye and trying to get a rough figure in my head on where we will be at going into the break. If we are going to make a real go of knocking on the door of the finals this year, it will be conducive of our first half of the year. Looking at the fixture I can only see 2 teams beating a full strength side playing good footy (Hawks, Swans) Granted the Bulldogs and North Melbourne are probably the second 2 toughest teams for us to play this side of the season, we have made a habit of beating the dogs in the past few years and proved that last year against North we could match it with them...albeit for 2 and a half quarters. Call me crazy, I have always been a bit of an optimist when it comes to our beloved Demons but I can't see why we couldn’t go into the second half of the season 7-8 wins and sitting quite happily in 7th-8th. Anyone care to share thoughts on this?
  22. Kent, Oliver, VB, Hunt and Wagner. Those 5 boys today I will be trying my very best to follow on the live up dates (No access to watch the game due to job requirements) I watched Callum Mills(Syd) last week and was ver impressed with how he moves and am hoping for a similar game from Oliver. Kent and VB I am expecting big things from today. I don't want them to change the world I just want to see the venom they showed last year. Hunt I am excited to see, very excited, I think he will be a mix between James Harmes and Jaimee Elliott with a bit more speed and polish hopefully. Wagner I am tipping to be the VanDenBerg of 2016 but hopefully with more luck in the injury department. Will be a trying day considering Port have one game on us and are fielding a strenghened side but we have a team of hard out competitors and many of which who are for the first time in their careers fighting for their spot on our list, no guarantees. What I don't want to see is a lack lustre performance with poor decisions. Looking forward to seeing Gawn, Hogan, and Mcdonald and Viney leading like the Generals they are and have the team get through unscathed and hungry for more,
