This is much too important for that. Cancel the flight.

Losing team is going to [censored] spew. So many missed frees.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 13
Mazer Rackham replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's a hell of a reverend. -
It's more efficient to do one week at a time two weeks at a time. Economy of scale.
-
While we're on the Bugger, if he'd taken the grabs he flew for we'd be talking about his game like we did Tracc's.
-
The village elders tell us the playing surface (from goal to goal) is 160m. So minimum distance from arc to arc is 60m and that's if you're running straight down the middle. Longer if you're not. Plus the Bugger is about 12/13m inside the arc at the point where a giant cigar shaped object is about to do unspeakable things to him.

The umps missed plenty all day, both ways, including pushes in the back, running too far, kicks too short, entering the "protected zone", on and on. If the game had been reffed by the book, who knows how it would have turned out, but we probably would still have won. But it's a lottery. This week we got the lollies. Next week we might be the ones screaming about the umps. Think of all the controversial finishes this year so far. Every week someone will feel hard done by because the umps do not ref to the actual rules of the game.

They're too dim to realise when they're being wound up. -

Eddie's Dream. To be the premier club in the Collingwood Football League. Each week they play an undermanned Essendon Richmond or Carlton a la the Washington Generals in front of 90,000 with the entire gate going to Collingwood. Followed by an all night FTA football panel with Brereton, Carey, etc, singing the eternal praises of Collingwood. Each year Nathan Buckley wins the Brownlow even though he's retired. -
Ron Burg's description was spot on. Time stood still. That's what it felt like at the ground. Watching on replay I was surprised by how many players were in our forward 50. At the time it felt like he was the only one on the ground. A moment that will live for years. (And for those not at the G ... yes it was loud. It was as cathartic for us Demons fans as it must have been for Jack!)

There's the old joke. What's better than beating C'wood by 10 goals? Beating them by 1 point. But what's better than that? Beating them by less than a kick with a dodgy free going against them in the last minute. Their booing after the siren was music to the ears!

Very unfair of the pies fans to single out the umpires like that. Everyone treats them as stupid!

Pies fans want out of QB Big freeze match
Mazer Rackham replied to pineapple dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Their fans might moan and groan about it but their management sure don't. For all the reasons outlined above. They might one day argue for shared gate takings or alternate year gate takings but they won't ever argue they shouldn't get to play another game at the G. Social club $$$ & no travel. Double bonus. And doesn't that just sum up the CFC mentaility to everything around football. "We'll just stroll in *take* what we want." -
I love the sound of moaning and bitching in the morning .... it sounds like ..... relevance.

Excellent description. You should change your handle to Damon Runyon!

A great spectacle, very entertaining, and a close ending which we didn't fluff. Another step forward. The umps didn't win it for us. They missed plenty all game, both ways. We were misfiring on one cylinder in the first half. Close to slick champagne football, but ball handling just off. Picked it up big time in the third and C'wood's fell off. Last quarter they were tired, but so were we otherwise we would have run over them. And who else to seal it but Jack? The universe is smiling. I think that's about as well as C'wood can play whereas we have room to improve. I expect C'wood to fall away in the rest of the season due to the difficulty in maintaining their high intensity style. (They must work on their anunitotion if they are to challenge for the 8.) Next 3 weeks will be testing, not just because of the 6 day breaks. We have a bunch of players carrying injuries. Has to be said: Oscar was good. Looked slow and out of it in the first half; he really showed something in the second that he has rarely shown this year. His composure and judgement were like a 150-gamer. Well done Oscar. Maybe he'll be the good McDonald? Pedo is a natural forward and Tom should only be sent there as an emergency measure. Lewis looked complacent. Winning 4 flags and coming to us like the second coming of Christ does not mean you don't have to put in. No one can live on reputation forever.

an:un'it:otion.(n) a exhilarating feeling experienced by umpires after making Collingwood fans think they've been shafted in the last two minutes of an AFL football match.
-
How tragic for the precious petals. They should stay away from AFL. It's not good for them to subject themselves to such meanness. Jack High or snooker might be more their style.
-
They did it so often it has to be something they're coached to do. Go to ground and cause a stoppage. Sometimes they'd go to ground even before they were touched. They did get pinged for it fortunately.

What radio station has the best commentary team?
Mazer Rackham replied to Redbeard's topic in Melbourne Demons
In olden days shenanigans like that were sacking offences. Nowadays the commentators and their bosses are so undisciplined and self indulgent, that is seen as clever and completely justified. Eddie McGuire the one to shatter the standard that commentators must be seen to be impartial. Thanks Ed. -
Nathan Buckley and his gang will be thinking the same thing ... MFC don't get big starts and the reverse is more likely. They'll throw everything at us to stop us getting off to a start. Their plan will be to strangle us with ugly packs and stoppages until we panic and make errors galore. However we have prevailed in such matches this season, so hold your nerve, shelve the MFCSS, and wait for our boys to prevail. We can and do score heavily when we're on. An easy thrashing would be hugely enjoyable but this is more likely to be a slog.

The problem you are experiencing is probably because you DO have some idea of the rules.

9 goals 16. Just asking for it. So far this weekend only 4 clubs have managed to kick more goals the behinds. It's an epidemic.

Do what I do and hope that GWS get disqualified and CFC get done for the salary cap.
