  1. The reality is that most of the players that have been mentioned have very little or which is mot likely, no trade value at all. We are not gong to be able to trade our way into a top team and I hope the club stops it giving away of our second round pick to try and achieve that. Off the top of my head we've gained Holland and Pickett and in my opinion what we've lost has been much more valuable. I believe that we will only build a great team through the draft and I'd be prepared to sacrifice one of our more senior better players to get access to a talented kid - only if we received a high enough pick though. I definitely would not trade away our first two picks this year, ir we're smart then we'll end up being in a position to pick up someone in the pre-season draft anyway. The players I'd look at delisting are: Holland Bizzell Ward Brown Wheatley Neville Ferguson Yze Pickett Miller Jamar Obviously not all of them, but this is the list that I'd imagine would be under most threat.
  2. Forgot to add something about Newton, I'd really love for him to get the opportunity to play alongside Neitz so he can get a front row view of how a top forward plays, I really think he'd benefit from it more than playing with Sautner at Sandringham.
  3. The main query on Newton is whether he can learn anything more while playing with Sandy for another half a season or whether a run at the top level will benefit him more. It's not an easy decision and there are definitely pro's and con's either way. There are other concerns with the list, and we do have a chance to go a long way to resolving those issues this year.
  4. It's just easier to get a new coach with new ideas than it is to replace 42 players, although I'm sure at the end of this season there will be a big cleanout.
  5. The facts remain that even after everything that has happened over the last couple of years we still don't have anyone who has played who is capable of replacing Neitz, and considering his age that's a major concern.
  6. The most ironic thing that happened today was that it was pretty obvious that Frawley needs some time at Sandy to get his game back up to the level it was before he got injured
  7. I agree belzebub, winning or losing is now irrelevant, building for the next couple of years is the only think we should be concentrating on.
  8. Where did i mention firing people? Daniher has coached the one team without premiership success more than any other current coach, he has well and truly been given a good ride.
  9. I love your work
  10. To be fair I wouldn't judge him purely on what's happening with Newton, judge him on what he has achieved over the last ten years.
  11. If that's the case then that's great that the club has improved in that area because I can guarantee you it hasn't been very good in the past, and my source is from current and ex players. However, I'm more prepared to believe something when gained directly directly the source rather than second hand info.
  12. Yes, I've already stated that. The reason why some people are saying that Newton shouldn't play yet is because he hasn't shown consistent good form with Sandy, I'm wondering why that rule doesn't apply to other players. By the way, I've also already stated that I believe that Frawley should be playing.
  13. I must admit that that was pretty funny, had alot of people looking very stupid, however this is a completely different forum and the shiite he pulled on bigfooty doesn't work here because we all barrack for the same team.
  14. The club does market their product all the time, it's just more important now because of our poor performances on the ground. I know it's frustrating but remember it's also a business and the club needs to be proactive to get their revenue coming in.
  15. It's pretty sad isn't it? If we continue like this then I'm afraid for our future
  16. It's just marketing to get more people to go to games and sign up, not sure why you're so upset. Also people buying memberships now obiovuly aren't going to get the same benefit because the season is almost halfway through. It's like going to the supermarket and buying something on special because it's close to its useby date. (Just realised after I finished that analogy that it fitted on more than one level )
  17. That's harsh, he was a good average player who got the absolute best out of himself but was unable to produce the expected output after his manager got him that great contract.
  18. Winning is now irrelevant, we need to start building for next year.
  19. Yeah, I miss his pulling out of contests and consisten failure during big games. I also miss how he failed to perform up to the level of the size of the huge contract his manager got for him from the club. Come back Woey, because you obviously proved that the pies what you're really worth. Ok, /sarcasm off. Look, I loved Woey when he was at Melbourne, I loved his story of how he struggled to make it onto an AFL list and then his dream coming true with winning a Brownlow, but players come and go. Let's just celebrate his good times while at the club and leave it at that.
  20. Every time I've been with a business that has a poor patch the exec management team and the board get very edgey and immediately act to stop the trend.
  21. The reason why I think players like CJ should be played over players like Bizzell is that our season is over. We are not going to play finals this year, so we have a chance to find out about our list in a way that a team challanging for a GF berth is unable to. With Bizzell we all know his career is all but over, chances are that he won't be on our list after the end of the season. We also know what he is capable of. But with CJ there is a huge question mark of whether he can make it or not, as shown by this and the countless other threads on him. We aren't going to discover whether he has 'it' or not with him playing for Sandy, the only way is to give him a dozen games in a row with Melbourne, then when it comes to his contract ending we'll know whether to keep him or not. The same goes for Warnock, Newton and Buckley. what's the point of having them on the list for at least a couple of years without playing them? Now is the time to see what they're capable of.
  22. To be fair how many players on our list have 'it'?
  23. Look at that ******* bench, all tall players, not a runner amongst them at all. The roos are going to run us off our feet if we go into the game with this side  Edit: Sorry, filter didn't work for some reason
  24. I remember back when the club was deciding who would be the next captain after Lyon and it was between Schwartz and Neitz, I was more involved with the club back then with player sponsorships so I had some pretty good insights into what was happening behind the scenes. The thing which amazed me the most was the group's attitude towards Schwarter, basically the feeling was that they would play for Neita but they'd die for The Ox. I still believe to this day that he would have made a great captain and the club let something very special slip.
  25. He's in line because he played well in a couple of practice matches? CJ did that as well and look at the general view of him here. If it was the same rules for everyone then he would have to play consistent good footy for Sandy, but it isn't and Garland is a perfect example.
