Where are the people that stick up for Bruces kicking?
Jarka replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nice picture -
He played alot of his junior footy at CHB, he was described as a "quarterback" type of defender, as in he'd really direct the play down the ground, I'm actually surprised we didn't try him there more often.
-
Garland getting a game completely contradicts all the arguments of why Newton hasn't played yet. I would be devastated if he left without the opportunity that alot of other lesser quality players have been given on our list.
-
He cannot read the play like most natural footballers, he gets lost alot when trying to shadow someone and he also doesn't provide enough drive out of defense in the same was as our other defenders.
-
He is hard working, but he's terrible at taking contested marks. His game is very one dimensional ie long lead, uncontested mark, handball - The opposition understands this very well and hence he is very easily contained, oh and I almost forgot, I count 8 times he's taken more than 10 marks a game, so with a career total of 85 I wouldn't call that regular - he also hasn't done it once this year. His poor disposal lets him down alot.
-
He also has a problem with reading the play which while in defence catches him out alot.

The club is in trouble but not because of the coach, the board is completely split in two and Butters is holding on by the skin of his teeth. Does anyone remember how we performed when we had problems with our board?
-
If you believe the rumours that were floating around at the time they had all but signed up someone else but there was an uproar from their fans and the decision was quickly shelved. It was quite widely discussed at the time, I have no idea if it was true or not but it wouldn't be the first time that that board had done something unusual. Are they the only board not voted in by their members? (Kangas as well perhaps)

My first preferance if for him to continue to make way for other more promising players, I only suggested a different position because it's a fair bet that Daniher will give him another opportunity.
-
Someone on this site reckons he has all the inside info on the "long term plan", but as of yet he's been reluctant to divulge it.

What annoys me about the situation is that I've seen a fair amount of other players who imhom have more talent than Miller but hasn't had the same opportunites he has had. I know this isn't his fault, but I also believe that he isn't the type of player capable of leading us to a GF victory. If he is going to be given yet another chance then I'd like to see something a bit different, for example play him on the wing, we all know he has a great tank and loves to run through people to give him the space to do it.

Tweak is the other one he picked up while at the Cats.
-
That's just plain wrong, St.Kilda are in this position because of injuries, much like us.
-
That's not what I was referring to, if you go back to the Stan Alves/Malcom Blight days you'll find the players had a big say in who was fired and hired as coach.

Miller plays a good game for Sandy - so what? We've seen a couple of other players do that this year and on more than one occasion but they're not given a game so why should it be any different for Miller? We've also hd many players who have done pretty well at VFL but just aren't up to it at AFL, and so far Miller has demonstrated these qualities. Having said that i wouldn't delist him at the end of the year because there are others who deserve to go before him.

The players are the last people who should be in control of who coaches a team, this happened at St.Kilda a couple of yars ago and it nearly did them in.
-
I'm pretty sure they're good mates with Ernie as well.

This has been happening at the MCC since before I was born, and I was born in the early 70's. The MCC traditionally gets full very quickly on big games because there are no resevered seats (except for the oldies section) and it's also tradition to grab a seat then go in and have lunch and a beer (or perhaps 4!) then come back out just before the game starts. Great place to watch a game

They used to have all of the stats (like spoils, hardball gets and 1%'s) but I believe Channel 7 have bought the rights to them and they are no longer available to the public, which is a real pain in the arse. That site used to be great, now it's just the same as all the others.

I agree Jaded, and his name is Cotchin.

When my dad was very young his doctor (or dentist, can't remember which one) was one of the Cordner's (also can't remember which one, next time I see him I'll ask), so dad naturally started to barrack for the demons because by the sounds of it he was a very impressive gentleman. When I was young, dad worked at Rusden, which had the best PE course in Australia at the time. He got to know alot of the footballers and alot came to our house, guys like the Healy's, Connoly etc. There was no way I was going to follow any other team. Forgot to add, one of my relatives played for Melbourne and made it onto the bench of the team of the century - his name was Wally Lock, so Melbourne has been part of our family for quite a long time.

Congrats tim! It's a wonderful time, I can't think of too many moments that would match it. Thankyou everyone for their kind words!

Very proud to announce the arrival of a new baby demon, Adeline Judith, born last Thursday and weighing 3kg (or 6 pound 10). Will be signing her up and commencing the brainwash sessions once we bring her home on Tuesday :D
