  1. Who was responsible for Szondy being elected to the board? Don't want to be rude but please read my whole post before replying.
  2. After today's game only a couple glasses of neat Laphroaigh was enough to make me feel better
  3. The more I think about it the more I like the idea of Grant Thomas. Considering the injury list he had to deal with he did very, very well to get them playing a great style of footy. Voss as assistant coach.
  4. I know how you feel. We have our first one due next week, and obviously there are alot of costs involved with your first bambino. It gets depressing paying big bucks in a yearly membership plus the costs of going to games throughout the year when we get shiite served up to us like this year after year. I don't mind so much that we haven't won a premiership (WTF am I saying!!!), it's just when the team gives up 'so [censored] easily' (been watching Hell's Kitchen so I borrowed this quote from Gordon ) that you begin to question your commitment.
  5. Or Adelaide
  6. Trade First Pick plus Green for Pavlich + Trade Priority Pick (17th overall pick) plus C.Bruce for Ben Cousins + Pick up Judd in the pre-season draft = Premiership in 2008 B)
  7. I disagree, this trait of giving up is something that the MFC has shown the whole time Daniher has been our coach. It's like they say to themselves that it doesn't matter if they let this one go, there will always be next week, and we know that certain Melbourne players will never get dropped as long as Daniher is coach.
  8. Don't start with this crap, before he came on board with his cronies we had money in the bank. After he and his elected board members left we were $5 million down the shiitehole. Do whatever you want but do not rewrite history to feed some fanciful delusion.
  9. Good ruckman, close to dominating the U18 competition, can go forward and kick goals. Quite good below his knees for a big guy and pretty mobile, at this stage he seems to be the best ruckman to come through at his age.
  10. I thought he was injured, is he playing today?
  11. Am listening to the broadcast atm and just heard this website got a mention :D
  12. Thanks guys for the responses, appreciate it
  13. Can anyone remember who our NSW trainee is? They're old enough to play U18's Nationals and I wanted to see what he's like so a name would be greatly appreciated.
  14. At the end of the day that's the only thing that counts
  15. Latest report on the kid, he's been listed in Port's best players the last 3 or 4 games as a CHF, and although he hasn't kicked big bags he's been regularly scoring. This is what the coach said after the game on the weekend about him. ".... while Brett Hughes again was dominant at centre half forward." (ok, not a big quote but I'll take anything at this stage ) This kid could be a very good pickup for us, I'm justhoping he's bigger than the 185cm he's listed as on their website.
  16. Things I'd like to see: - Newton in the FP - S.Buckley on the HBF - C.Johnson played for at least half a season. - Miller on a wing - Frawley's debut - Neaves promoted due to Bizzell retiring - Neitz playing 300 ganes
  17. I acknowledge he is a good coach and I also understand that part of my attitude towards him are because of a couple of incedents that he's been involved in, and these are: - The throat slicing gesture. Completely unprofessional. - His stance towards the MFC wanting to add a player to our list after Troy died and then seeing him publicly campaign for Rama's rookie listing, complete hypocrisy - His comments re: flooding. Sheedy was one of the first coaches to use the tactics, examples of this was his tactics against Allen Jakovich Needless to say I have a very poor opinion of him, I think he is a hypocrite, but I have to agree with you he is one of the top coaches. Thankfully he won't be at Melbourne next year for all the reasons already mentioned in this thread. He'll probably go into some sort of management position with Essendon or Collingwood, Eddie would move heaven and earth to get him there. Malthouse is an interesting one, at the Eagles he virtually had a state team, they were that good. But at Collingwood I think he managed to get an avearge side playing good, consistent football.
  18. I'm glad you weren't in charge at Melbourne when R.D.Barrassi first started playing, he was very avearge untill Smith decided to give him a go as a ruck rover..... Players like Ward, Brown, Miller, Godfrey and Jamar have played for years, often putting in below par performances that would see them getting delisted at most other clubs. They're given game time over and over again to prove themselves, which pisses me off when I talented kid like CJ is played off the bench for a game (or perhaps two) and then immediately dropped the following week. How is he meant to be able to build confidence to perform well under those circumstances? He knows everytime he plays that if he doesn't have a great game he is the first one dropped from an under performing team, I couldn't begin to imagine the sort of pressure he is under.
  19. I never said that I didn't rate him, in fact I said he was a good coach but it's irrelevant to the point I'm trying to make (Actually 99% of your reply is irrelevant). The issue is that I believe he will never risk his reputation that he has built during his time at Essendon by coaching a poor club like Melbourne, the Bulldogs or the Kangaroos. He won't go to one of these clubs because of financial reasons, both personal salary package and the restrictions that would be inforced on him with his coaching staff. Sheedy will never coach Melbourne. Same goes for Mark Harvey, although he has openly stated that he'll never go to a 'poor' club, he said this when the doggies were trying to replace Wallace.
  20. Hit a nerve Ash? Football in the early 80's is nothing compared to what it is now and I'm surprised that someone of your intelligence would go with that type of argument. There was very little difference spent between the rich and poor clubs back then, especially if you compare the difference in the modern era, and Essendon's success can be directly attributed to the zoning area's they were allocated. Now clubs who don't perform on and off the ground have to fight for the own survival, something that Sheedy has never had to deal with. When Matthews started at Brisbane they were are rabble, financially rooted of the ground and shambles on it, to the point were their own players were sending anonymous pizza deliveries to their coach at 3 o'clock in the middle of the night. One more thing, do you really want to discuss 'salary cap' amounts? Because if you do why don't you do some research into how much total payments were made by clubs like Collingwood and Essendon compared to clubs like Melbourne, Kangaroos and the Bulldogs. The 'marquee player' payments and veteren allowances insured that the 'rich' clubs have had an advantage. Sheedy is a good coach, but there is no way he will put his reputation on the line by coaching at a poor club, and I don't think he has the nuggets to see just how good he is.
  21. C'mon mate, let me believe the fantasy for just a little bit longer before waking me up, it's going to be a very long season
  22. He has more to lose by taking a chance with a poor club, which is the reason why I rate guys like Matthews higher, they were prepared to go to an unsuccessful club and putting everything on the line.
  23. Sheedy wouldn't do it because he wouldn't coach a club that has limited resources like we do, I don't think he is confident enough in his own ability to achieve without a rich club behind him.
  24. What a [censored] glorious problem that would be
