  1. My prefernce was for Sheedy but Bailey isn't an unknown, he's been involved with some very good teams working under excellent coaches. Obviously the club has seen something special in him which we're obviously not privvy to, and at this stage that's good enough for me. However if he fails after three years then it will reflect very poorly on the club that they didn't go with Sheedy, he's under alot of pressure before he even starts.
  2. Jolly has never been a first choice ruck and he never will be, it's just ridiculous suggesting otherwise. He is though a pretty decent as a back up one, but it seems he's beginingto overstate hsi own abilities. I wouldn't mind him playing for us but with everything that's happened between the two parties I doubt whether it will happen. My preference would be for the club to develop our own kids.
  3. Congrats to Bailey on his appointment, now the hard work begins. My preference was for Sheedy but I'm happy to reserve my judgement on Bailey until he has been in the job for a couple of years, but he definitely does have the ideal grounding for the role. It will be interesting to see what he does with the list, whether he thinks it needs a slash and burn or whether he thinks it's good enough for another shot next year.
  4. The media have no idea who Melbourne has chosen, they're just guessing. One thing is certain though, no matter who is chosen there will be people upset with the decision.
  5. Hard drugs is much, much more than a health issue, and this has been proven throughout history. The easy option is to give players a rap on the knuckles and pretend it's not happening.
  6. Nice piece of deflection by the AFL, in any other sport these athletes would now be on at least a one year ban. Our sport is turning into a circus.
  7. YM, if you keep posting possible trade you'll eventually get one that will be close, my guess is that you'll need about 42 more though.

    2007 Draft

What about a 199cm key forward? A player with the agility like Kreuzer could easily become a dominant forward, and they are as rare as hens teeth.
  9. Very true Jaded, 2006 didn't have any true KPP's so you'd expect them to develop alot quicker.
  10. I would be devastated if we traded our number 2 pick for a player like Wells
  11. I hate Sheedy with a passion for many reasons, but it's these reasons why I want him as our coach.
  12. Height is pretty irrelevant, look at Campbell Brown. It's all about ability and attitude, but most importantly a combination of them both.
  13. I don't think anyone will answer the question, but if they do it will most likely get deleted very quickly because of the court injunction. My thoughts about it is that the mods shouldn't merge this thread with any other. Hopefully that isn't too obvious.
  14. RR, if there is a thread for posts of the year then I nominate yours
  15. RIP the English language Seriously though, on alot of forums now some of the grammar being used (or misused) is unbelieveable, bloody sms talk.
  16. Ok, just to set the record straight, my reference to 'scribes' wasn't directed at phantom drafts on bigfooty (although if mojo was still posting then it would definitely be worth reading), it was soem local coaches of soem junior teams who see alot of footy. Fergberger is right, his kickign is why alot of people had him down the orderm interestingly it was also common knowledge that Bartram would have been a first rounder except for his disposal.
  17. Alright, add me in. So that's 5/50

    hmmm

This year the first pick in the pre-season draft could be just as valuable as the November one, coudl be very interesting.
  19. Frawley hasn't shown anything 'special' yet, let's not get carried away, but being a KPP he still has a couple of years in development ahead of him. With the games he's played he hasn't set the world on fire, but he hasn't been useless either, Jack Reiwoldt though is going to be a very good player, you just have to see him play to realise it. Most of the 'scribes' had Frawley going in the 30's or 40's and us taking him in the first round was a big shock.
  20. I hope the club stays firm with this, but even a two year contract is a risk considering his injuries.
  21. The main problem is that Melbourne should be doing what's best for Melbourne, and Sandy needs to do what's best for Sandy and I just don't think that the two always exist in harmony. Our relationship has been wonderful for Sandy, I'm not convinced that we've benfited as much though.
  22. Size is irrelevant, but from that list only Newton is a realistic key forward proposition. Dunn is unable to take contested marks and Bate is a midfielder who can pinch hit up forward. If you want an indication that size means nothing then look at Brereton's height, it's all about the attitude.
  23. No idea RR, just because he's from Queensland doesn't mean they'll be interested.
  24. You're probably right hannabal, and sometimes I think I get excited about him purely because we are so devoid of quality young key forwards - even McDonalds tastes good to a starving man.
  25. It's a pity we don't have anyone to replace him for the centre bounces.
