Ps. Is rated as the 25th player in the league on AFL player ratings. His age is undeniably irrelevant in this case. So I wish people would shut the fark up about us 'not being a retirement home'. Cross provided a huge amount for our club but was clearly battling away toward the end. Harvey's skill-level and general impact on game-day is miles ahead of Cross's and that's not to pot shot on Daniel because he was a huge role model at the club. Harvey would fast track our development without one iota of a doubt, provide further protection so that young guys can continue to develop at Casey for a couple of years and also make a genuine impact onfield come game-day. When will people realise that we need more than Jones and Vince as players who have 150 + games experience in our starting 22? We need more leadership and experience. We're desperate for it. Posters that wouldn't want Harvey because of some pathetic 'annoyance' factor are clueless. Absolutely and utterly clueless. The same ones who if in charge would still be playing Sylvia, Jamar, Howe, Garland, Frawley. It's incredible. Emotional bias is like a [censored] disease around these parts.

I couldn't disagree more. We have an absolute gold mine of ball winners, most of which were 'elite' in their 18's year. Brayshaw, Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Tyson, ANB. Thats six who are pure ball winners and obviously the club will back themselves to develop them into 'elite AFL' ball winners. Putting all your eggs in one basket is the last thing you'd want to do as a list manager/recruiter/coach. We need players that will compliment our ball winning mids with different attributes. That should be an obvious observation on the back of some of the games we've lost this year.

Would absolutely love him at the club. But what on earth could we offer that would satisfy GC? To please them it'd have to something like next year's first round pick plus Salem/Oliver and perhaps an exchange of later picks. But I wouldn't want to part with either of those two. Fark I want him.

Underwhelmed if true. And also from a list 'balance' point of view, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Any players that we want to add to our midfield mix should be adding something we lack. Speed and foot-skills namely. List balance and attribute diversity is what we need. Not another fairly one-dimensional, one-paced, high accumulating contested ball winner. We have enough of those.

Why? WTF is wrong with some supporters? Here are some facts: - We are one of the youngest lists within the AFL - We still lack senior figures and leaders at our club - Harvey's year this season has been as good as any one of our players, if not better - There are no signs that his form will drop considering the shape he keeps himself in There are so many ninnies on here that have 'hang-ups' over individual players at other clubs, it's pathetic. And ya'll base your arguments on exactly that, a 'hang-up'. Yet many supporters are happy to defend the Garlands and Dunns of this world. Genuine degenerates who should be leading the way for our young side but are not. There's a reason Harvey is a champion AFL player and if he even had the faintest bit of interest in playing on for another couple of years, I'd hope to hell we'd be a club that'd be interested in acquiring him. St Kilda, the Dogs, Carlton. All of these teams have had senior figures who inspire, teach and help fast track the development of young lists. Which is part of the reason why they haven't bombed out down the bottom for very long. We're the only club within the AFL besides the newbies, (GWS and GC) who have had to bring in senior experience and leaders. Harvey fits the bill. Without a doubt.

It's not electric, but he definitely seems to be able to switch gears with more ease or something? Regardless, I'm not too concerned at this point. His best for us is very very good as we've seen but it's his worst that I don't want to see for much longer going forward. Bridge the gap and he'll certainly be a top player for us for a long time. There is a difference between having a 'quiet' game and a game where you're consistently making errors with ball-in-hand and giving it up to the opposition. And they're the games Dom needs to leave behind.

Nar m8. I'm talking about his body shape and the way he is moving in those highlights compared to the way he moves for us. He looks much more fleet-of-foot.

When Dom ball handling is clean and his ball use is up, he's a really valuable player. However, being the pure inside midfielder that he now is, if his ball handling is down and kicking and handballing is off he almost becomes a liability on the field. That's not an exaggerated comment. It's the truth. Dom is a really one-dimensional player in that he only has a few strong attributes which limits him positionally. He is also really one-paced now which limits his ability to run hard to position defensively. When you look at his highlights from GWS, he seemed to be able to cover the ground a lot quicker and could burst away from packs. In my eyes he almost looks like a different player. I think the club identified him as a pure inside mid and the way his body shape and style has changed suggests that his individualised weight program has also changed from what he had at GWS.. One thing I've always worried about is our pace and skill level through the midfield. Jones, Tyson, Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw and Petracca are all see ball/get ball players instinctively. They naturally gravitate to the contest. And if they're down on skill-level or ball handling like on Saturday, we get absolutely chopped up on the outside because our mids almost play like bees to the honey pot. It was the exact same against Essendon earlier this year. Definitely something that worries me. It's an attribute imbalance atm. Here is Dom early days anyway. I think he looks and plays in a much more explosive way in these clips.

If it hasn't been obvious enough this season to some, it should be now after Saturday. We need some serious kicking skills. Injected all over the field. Kicking skills and class.

[censored] Essendon. I hope we standup and play hardball on this one with Hibberd. I want the MFC to be the club that dictates the play. Too many times have I seen us be bullied by stronger clubs like Essendon. Makes me sick to the stomach.

Edit: Deleted my post as I realised a few of those players were rookie upgrades as people have already pointed out. Shiet.

Basically, when you have none of your midfield playing anywhere near their best, the team is going to struggle. Not only did they not play their best. They were all completely off their games. Gawn, Tyson, Viney, Jones and Vince all had shocking days and unfortunately nobody outside of that group looked like they were going to inspire a comeback. Fumbly, decision making, kicking. They were all at their worst. What's been most pleasing over the past month as that when one or two of them have quiet games, at least a couple will bob up. But nobody did today. There were plenty of others in that boat too all over the ground, but obviously it's got to start in the midfield. Thought Hunt was great. Pretty much zero errors, was clean, courageous, won all his contests and his run and carry is like gold. Disappointing but already looking forward to what we're going to look like next year.

Feel a bit for the Pedo but it's the right call. Last game at the G this year for us, (unless a miracle goes down). No better place to unleash the Hogan/Weed combo. Happy to see Nibbler get back in too.

Perhaps our rise over over a three to four year period can be compared to the dogs. Or any other side that has bottomed out and successfully rebuilt over the same sort of time frame. Obviously a few things need to go right like trade/free agency and draft periods as well as retaining the right senior figures. But that's about it as far as comparisons go. I hate comparing 'lists'. Unless there is a distinct blueprint that a club has followed. And if I play along I'd have to say that our list in its current state (and in the way we are playing) most closely resembles that of Sydney's. GWS and the Dogs lists have far better skill level and running power overall. Geelong have running power but not so much the skill. Hawthorn are anomolous in that they are the most skillfull side and were the first to create a side of supremely good kickers on every line. My hope is that over the off-season we add running power and foot-skills which will come from trading. Two attributes that we're sorely lacking and ones that we need to continue our upward trajectory.

Hibberd would be a really solid get for us and I still hope we land him. He'd be another really strong and experienced defender that'd help glue that back six. And on the Salem issue, I would absolutely hate to lose him. Have said it before, but as soon as he has one uninterrupted pre-season and season of footy, I think we'll all see how important he'll be as one of our young core.

What rumours? That he was heard to be seen in the Essendon rooms after the game on the w/e? Or that he wants out?

Or conversely, landing him may also be a godsend..

I sure hope you're not deducing that they are at a similar level of playing ability from that.. Because they're incomparable. Weitering is streets ahead in almost every facet of the game.

Interesting, but I still think he'd hep us enormously. And I'm still holding hope.
