  1. Good god man. Conspiracy theories?! How do you think the footballing world, (media in particular) would react if the club released reports that Viney and Rawlings were encouraged to seek opportunities elsewhere because of a rift/disagreement/didn't meet the standards of the board etc etc? We would be met with a bombardment of further negative news and unwanted attention. All giving rise to further disharmony, disconnect and pressure on the playing group, Goody and club as a whole. Clubs have a right to protect themselves and full truths are not always told for absolutely good reason in an industry where the microscope is forever over your shoulder watching your every move. It's absolutely fascinating that you would think such a thing is a 'conspiracy theory'. As if such scenario is so unimaginable and unfathomable to you. I can only imagine how you reacted to the time we were caught manipulating the equalisation system. You know, that word 'tanking'. Is this current scenario more or less believable than that? Man, if you think this is a 'conspiracy theory' and that it is complete coincidence that Rawlings and Viney have left post season on their own terms.. (on the back of one of the most embarrassing season we've dished up, a year after making a prelim, with other assistants already out the door, after the club mooting there'd be major change)... .. Then it must be quite a cosy bubble you live in.
  2. I find it extremely difficult to believe that Viney and Rawlings leaving on their 'own terms' is just coincidence given the season we've had.
  3. I don't understand your post. For every positive piece of play you name, I could name a negative one. I hold an indifferent view when it comes to Frost. I mean, if we got a second round pick for the former rookie we'd be laughing but if we didn't I'd rather persist. The point is that there seems to be an imbalance in the views of supporters on here in regards to what Frost offers. Why name all of those positive plays without acknowledging the goals he gifts opposition sides, free kicks he gives away or turnovers he makes? It doesn't make sense.
  4. I wish someone would post the 'out on the full' kick he made after this tackle. It's a much more accurate representation of what he offers the team.
  5. What do you mean? One is a top 5 talent for reasons that the other is not.
  6. I don't know the intricacies, but looking at Carlton's list vs ours, I'm not sure they'd have a great deal more cap space than us. I'm just hoping there's something or someone else at play. Martin is a game winner at his best. Supporters need to go back and read the Jake Melksham thread if they want a refresher.
  7. Hard not jump the gun just yet given trade period hasn't started but given our style of play and list overall, it's of great interest that our names weren't even mentioned when he declared he wanted out of the gold coast. I'd love to know why. Are we not crying out for a player with the class, x-factor and ability of Martin? I'd argue it's the thing we're missing most. Much more so than a lack of 'run'. I mean, losing the prelim to West Coast in the manner we did was due to inherent flaws in our play and in certain players' profiles. Not because of a lack of run. A team will always look slow when it continues to make unforced errors. Carlton will potentially leap frog us next year. Whilst their list is young, it is far more balanced than ours and now they've added cream. Early days of course, but the difference between us and the best teams in the come is completely and wholly a skill and execution thing. Any player who can create and kick goals from limited opportunities should be on our radar. We've lost one in Martin.
  8. He'll help with providing an option due to his unbelievable running ability, no doubt about that. I'm jumping the gun with worrying because a) we haven't even landed him and b) we have no idea what Goodwin has planned in regards to next year's setup, gameplan, personnel changes etc. I'm just hoping that the changes we've made to the coaching group will be matched with changes to personnel, game-plan and setup on field too. Because I tell you right now, if we go into round 1 next season with the same forward setup, same midfield mix bar Langdon on a wing, we're going to face the exact same problems as we did this year. The ball will come straight back over Langdon's head and his addition won't be noticed much. I will stop showing up to games if I see both of ANB and Hunt playing in the same forwardline.
  9. Brayshaw was incredible at times last year. Unless he is completely unhappy and there's been an irreversible fallout, it would be a very questionable move to trade him. He's had one down year and is about to come into his prime along with many of his team mates.
  10. Gawn tapped to all those names bar Ollie Wines this year, how did it go? Unless we have some serious plans to restructure our forwardline and wings, I just couldn't fathom why the club would want to bring in Ollie Wines given the current balance of the list. It is a completely nonsensical move when looking at our weaknesses as a list in it's current state. Hopefully Barrett is just filling in fluff for our column.
  11. If we're interested in trading out another first round draft pick, I hope to hell it's not to land Ollie Wines.
  12. His delivery isn't flash. He won't help in that regard, which is why he doesn't overly excite me.
  13. What a magical time that was. Feels like it was years ago now.
  14. Late first round worst case if we could acquire one. I just couldn't stomach giving up a top 15 pick for him.
  15. Understand, but for where the MFC sit currently, I'm not sure giving up a first round pick for back pocket/flanker would be the best list management call given the obvious holes we have elsewhere.
  16. Would love but not for a first rounder.
  17. Oath. If he wants full-time midfield minutes he needs to be leaving the coaches no other option but to play him there. Starts on the track.
  18. I'm aware, it was a tongue-in-cheek comment that has been misunderstood.
  19. Viney doesn't have enough tricks when sent forward. He is not that smart with ball in hand and his goal sense isn't killer either. He's of most value when he is going fullbore at the coalface which means stints on the bench to get his break. Clayton, Petracca and Gus can all play forward and have attributes that suit a forward role. Strong overhead and genuine goal sense. Harmes has the capacity to play at either end although his positioning let's him down a lot at times. Just as important as our starting midfield six will be what we do on the half-forwardline and half-backline imo. We've been playing inside mids in those positions for the best part of three years. Langdon doesn't excite me but obviously you'd prefer him to Jones or Brayshaw on a wing. I want Papley/Bolton or Higgins/Smith to add to that mix. We need to go hard, the comp waits for nobody and teams rise and fall every year now. Gone are the days of bottoming out to win a premiership. I await eagerly the trade period.
  20. He's an exception. It's still the old me when it comes to the 'interrupted pre-season' talk.
  21. Love him. Found it hard to watch him this year but glad that he'll make the 300 club. (Fingers crossed). One comment was of great interest to me - "Playing multiple roles all year and having a really injury interrupted prep before the season, I managed to get through the year." I'm not sure about anyone else, but @Satyriconhome said that nobody had an injury interrupted pre-season so I don't know why Jones would choose to lie about something like that...
  22. Champion data rated our list best in the comp by some distance. We finished second last. Eyes are useful, they show us a lot.
