  1. Well I wish there were more like you.
  2. I get that but even if one is an optimist, a well reasoned person can still share some of Gary's concerns. It's not that one is right and the other is wrong.
  3. Oscar McDonald dropped without Steven May replacing him @binman. Don't remember him being 'injured' last week either. You'd be seriously out of pocket if a gambling man took that bet.
  4. What is wrong with people. Gary Lyon says something negative about the club and it's "Gary has limited knowledge and employed Mark Neeld, what would he know?". Wayne Carey writes a feel good article and the happy go luckies start can't contain their excitement. #demonland
  5. 10 seconds later, West Coast took the free kick for an out on the full. #frosted
  6. Before even contemplating who we need to trade for and bring in, let's consider the following two important points: * The Darren Burgess factor. One can only imagine that Goodwin and Darren's number one priority will be having as many players as possible ready to go from November for a full and uninterrupted pre-season (@Satyriconhome). Over the last few weeks and even month, we've seen certain players listed as 'season' for injuries. It seems obvious that some of those names will be having surgery now in order to be ready for November. Without even looking at list tinkering and needs, a full pre-season with one iota of 'injury luck' going our way from November through to February will have a significant impact for the following reasons and I'll stress that all of these reasons are interconnected: - Our most important and key players completing full- loads. Oliver, Brayshaw, Petracca, Salem, Viney, Tom Mac, Weed, Melksham, Lever, May, Gawn. Completing a full load allows for players to play at their best (see my Jack Viney thread post) and just as importantly allows them to get through the rigours of an AFL season. - Equally as critical, full numbers on the track allows for and builds: morale, cohesion, comfortability, accountability and confidence within the group. It allows for players to learn how one another play. Steven May and Jake Lever for instance. What kind of an impact will a full pre-season and training in the same backline together over a summer have? - Then there's the coaches and the importance of having a full and healthy list to run full squad drills and plays, line plays, craft days, game plans etc. Obviously this goes hand-in-hand with the above in regards to what kind of impact this is having at an individual level. * The second point is the Goodwin factor. What we know right now is that he has survived and the assistants have payed the ultimate price. One can only hope to assume that this year will have felt like a giant slap in the face for him and will force him look introspectively and with that, learn from his own mistakes this year and change some of his ways for the better. Just like Buckley and Hardwick before him, this is now his chance to grow as a coach, leader, player manager, people manager, strategist, etc etc. He must embrace it and cop the criticism that has been more than fairly dished his way. That is the silver lining in this utterly disgraceful year. The opportunity for us to bring in some new assistant coaches will give rise to fresh ideas that may perhaps challenge Goodwin's. Whenever new leaders (coaches) are brought in to an organisation, it more often than not generates a new wave of positive habits for employees wanting to impress. There are a multitude of positive outcomes and flow-on effects that new group of coaches can bring and I believe that we've done the right thing. I'll post my list changes at a later time, but the two points above will have a hugely positive effect on the club, (providing it all goes to plan) and we get some luck.
  7. That would be an awfully uninspiring off-season. Sounds Neeld-esque to me.
  8. Sometimes I think I'm a negative poster, but then I read threads like these and it's an eye opener. Viney at his best is easily in our top 5 most important players. At his best, his intensity, pressure and tackling ability at the coalface are simply unmatched and that is why he is so important to our side. The issue for Viney is that if he doesn't bring his one wood to every game, he can look second rate due to his limitations in other areas of his game. Adding to this is the fact that ballistic and one-dimensional players like Viney who are really only suited to play one (extremely important) role absolutely need to complete a full pre-season load. And that is the major hurdle he faces going forward. Posters calling for him to be traded are 'ignore' button worthy.
  9. That vision was the 2017 West Coast game...
  10. Any coincidence that he's played his best footy with Lever and/or May by his side? Frost has some great attributes. He could save us a game. He also has some astoundingly bad qualities. And could lose us a game.
  11. It's funny. Experts point this stuff out with vision to match. Some of it has been trending for two years as they stated. Yet we still have the demonlander cushies talking about Garry slurring. I guess it's all just wrist slashing hey crew?
  12. Harmes looks far too happy about that AFLX trophy. I blame this year on that tbh.
  13. Players with his level of skill, awareness and decision making always stay in the game longer. I'm up for upgrading our list and at this stage, age shouldn't be a [censored] factor if the player in question has a blend of attributes that we're crying out for. We're second [censored] bottom on the ladder. No doubt the cushies on here will churn out the usual, "nah but we need to give games to player x, y and z". (Meanwhile another year goes down the gurgler).
  14. Nah. Clearly supporters have nfi of the impact a comeback from an ACL has on a player. Lever has now had two. Do you really think the club thought he'd do a second one on the other knee when trading for him? His intercept marking and killing of the contest are absolutely elite. Something that Oscar and Frost are questionable at. Yeh, he can clean up his skills but he is a gem and will prove his worth throughout the next 2-5 years.
  15. Posters keep forgetting that a priority pick enables greater bargaining power to land those types of players (if under contract). That's the whole point here. A priority pick enables greater flexibility around drafting and trading for experience/talent. I don't think anyone believes it would be in Gold Coast's best interest to only hit the draft with picks.
  16. We are completely lost. In all areas of the ground. It's truly woeful.
  17. You need to watch more closely. He most certainly hasn't cost us four. Maybe concentrate on Oscar. Did you see his turning circle just then?
  18. Hahaha. You're ridiculous. I think you need to do a bit more research on Jack Watts and his off-field discretions. He has plenty. How you measure them up against Bennell's is for you to decide but neither of them are angels. And only one has produced far more on a football field.
  19. Yeh. About as good as Gus's handball to that invisible guy we have playing...
  20. You pick up only on his turnovers. I don't get it. Yes, he most definitely needs to tidy up his kicking at times but think about how many goals or opportunities at goal he has saved by either making a genuine killer spoil, intercept marking or out-bodying his opponent to mark. Lever has been very very good this game aside from a few kicking blunders.
