Poor old Marty Hore has gone from “season” to “10 to 12 weeks” and back to “season”. Mind you, if our gold standard contact tracing lives up to form, we could all be out for the season before too long. Injury List: Round 11 Christian Salem (groin) — Available Aaron vandenBerg (quad) — Available Jack Viney (toe) — 2 to 3 Weeks Joel Smith (knee) — 3 to 4 Weeks Deakyn Smith (ankle) — 4 to 5 Weeks Bailey Laurie (eye socket) — 5 to 6 Weeks Marty Hore (knee) — Season Aaron Nietschke (knee) — Season Adam Tomlinson (knee) — Season

Kangaroos v Collingwood will be moved to Arden Street.
  5. Nothing was done at the club without Eddie’s imprimatur but there was a board in place and it had the responsibility of oversight. Those back ended contracts, the Grundy deal and the decision to get Beams back were all done with board approval and they will be called upon in due course to answer for that!
  6. A bit old.
  7. One thing that stands out from the statistics is the fact that despite having two solid ruckmen and a number of players who we all rate as quality midfielders, we are still regularly trailing our opponents in clearance statistics. Should we look for someone who is capable of addressing this?

  9. Could they please award Luke Jackson with a Rising Star nomination now?

And if they do, they become one of our competitors.

Actually, very appropriate given that they’re getting saht upon.

Good luck to him (except in about 4 week’s time when they play us).

If there’s one thing I have learned, it is that you don’t trust these injury lists that the AFL issued, especially if they don’t bear the imprimatur of Mr Burgess. This one omits to mention the likes of Mitch Brown, Jay Lockhart and AVB who were mysteriously missing from the Casey lineup last week as well as Harry Petty as mentioned above. Given that there’s a VFL game on later today and we have yet to hear officially from the club, I’m guessing that there are one or two mystery injuries about to be revealed.

They are doing VFL but aren’t limited to coverage of Casey games alone.

Here’s a great story about Smith’s sacking from the perspective of player Ray Groom who later became Premier of Tasmania. Norm Smith was sensationally sacked by Melbourne 50 years ago
  17. Accuracy in front of goal would help too.

Needless to say Ben Brown and Sam Weideman are now available ? but it’s bad luck to Joel Smith who is a constant visitor to the list and Bailey Laurie, a newbie. Both due to be out for a while. Injury List: Round 6 Bayley Fritsch (hand fracture) — Test Steven May (eye socket) — Test James Harmes (wrist) — 2 Weeks Bailey Laurie (eye socket) — 6 Weeks Joel Smith (knee) — 6 to 8 Weeks Marty Hore (knee) — Season Aaron Nietschke (knee) — Season

I don’t quite get the comment about the Weed and BBB getting through the VFL unscathed and then still having their names on the injured list with “1 week” and “1 to 2 weeks” respectively. If that applies, surely you’re not going to play either AFL or VFL?

  24. My understanding is that Collingwood’s salary cap situation is far from resolved and they would have to move a few pieces around to make a huge offer for Trac. Then the question is what do they offer Melbourne? Darcy Moore plus a future first rounder? From Melbourne’s viewpoint, I think the likely retirements and delistings leave us well placed to make fair and reasonable offers to retain our star players and remain active in trading.

The way the game is played today with the longer quarters and with the way our team is set up at the moment, if the Cats try keepings out it will come a cropper. We almost beat them as it was last year. We would run over them if they tried it next week.
