If you want a tall then next year’s the year for it. There’s a 199cm tall from SA called Harry Lemmy who will be all the rage next year as a key position forward prospect.

Funny that young Woewodin models his game on Steele Sidebottom but runs so fast over the initial 20 metres. Sidey isn’t very fast himself but makes up for it with quick thinking.

Adelaide has pick 4 - unlikely. Carlton - no top 20 picks and drafted 210-centimetre ruckman Alex Mirkov from Old Ivanhoe in the VAFA in this year’s mid season draft. Gold Coast Suns - have only one draft pick at 3 - unlikely and also took 205cm Ned Moyle of the Oakleigh Chargers in this year’s mid-season draft. StKilda - have Pick 9 but they did take a developing ruckman in this year’s mid-season draft, 204cm Max Heath. Western Bulldogs - no top 20 picks but will be taking 204cm Sam Darcy as a father/son. More a forward but could be developed as a ruckman. GWS at 13 which will become 15 after father/sons is probably the only real suitor and if not them, Melbourne might not be called upon to match until the mid 20s.

I’m not ruling Brisbane out of the equation but the Lions drafted 204cm Kalin Lane in this year’s mid-season rookie draft. They also drafted 206cm Henry Smith in last year’s National Draft. With list sizes numbering just above 40, can you afford to have more than two developing ruck prospects?

Quite right but you also missed that the Tigers have two other young developing ruckmen on their list. Samson Ryan is 206cm, 96kg from Queensland and he played one game for them during the year. He’s the bloke Hardwick suggested should be loaned out to the Suns for the rest of the year to cover their injuries. They also have a real giant in Category B rookie, Mate Colina (213cm) who is the cousin of Noah Balta and a close family friend of Soldo and ruck coach Ivan Maric. How many development ruckmen do you reckon one club needs?

There’s something weird about the article. Numerous draft prospects are mentioned in it but there’s one name conspicuously missing. Mac Andrew. Why would that be?

Strange that someone should have an opinion that he’s inconsistent? He’s been a low possession winner throughout his career. Kicks the odd goal in a game and then is unsighted. Got 6 touches v Geelong when given his chance in the semi final. The game he played before that (round 17) he had 7 touches. With a record like that, he certainly has a lot of development left in his game but it won’t necessarily be fulfilled so I wouldn’t be worried too much if we missed out on it.

It’s worth looking at how NGA’s have gone in the Draft recently. Jamarra Ugle-Hagan’s case is pretty well-documented. The Bulldogs matched Adelaide’s bid at #1 last year. But Collingwood’s 2020 NGA Reef McInnes didn’t attract as much publicity and wasn’t considered as highly in some quarters last year but he was definitely considered by many judges as a likely top 20 draft pick (the ban on matching at that range didn’t exist at the time). Hill’s just another of these players who comes into the system promising so much and delivering so little. He has these spasmodic flashes of brilliance from time to time but lets you down so often. No thanks!

I would be rapt. Well before the season started, I had him pegged for top three on the “2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch” thread for exactly those reasons that Dazzle put forward. My only reservation now is, how is he going to find his way into a Melbourne team with so many quality small/medium forwards? I guess if he’s good enough, he will but I don’t really see him falling out of the top ten.
