And in my opinion that didn't actually happen. I think you have no information and are just an attention seeker. You relayed a rumour and, after a positive reaction, you are trying to keep riding that wave of self worth. But you have nothing and your rumours are getting worse and worse as you try to scrape the barrel of attention. Hey, don't shoot the messenger.
-
This is a load of rubbish. If I was to post a link to a video that a friend of mine sent me, and that video happened to be of 3 naked people beating a child with a corpse, what do you think would happen to me? What would the reaction be? By passing on the information (the 'message') you have made a conscious decision to do so. If people tell you that your rumours are rubbish and that you are a tool for posting them, then they are completely within their rights to do so. By doing the sort of stuff you have been doing, you invite scorn upon yourself. This is a community of people. I will treat everyone with respect until I deem them not worthy of respect, and this is the same online and in the physical world. If you're a tool, you'll be treated as if you're a tool.

I was. In all seriousness though, he's a very talented player. I hope he is as good for us as we think he will be.

Jamie Bennell upgraded to main list at Weagles
Axis of Bob replied to Mono's topic in Melbourne Demons
Really happy for Jamie. He has some weaknesses, but he has a huge amount of talent and seems to be a hard worker and a nice kid. I wish him well. -
He's a contested marking monster. But that's not what is going to make him a dominant AFL player - it's his running. He's got such a massive tank that he just works his opponent(s) into the ground. This helps him get into one on one contests where he can just monster his (exhausted) man. He's Jonathan Brown, but 18 years old and playing for Melbourne.

If we get pick 1, I'd say that the trade value of the pick is far greater than the draft value of pick 1. We are arguing over whether or not we should take the clear number 1 pick this year, which suggests that his value is much greater to others than it is to us. As such, we should get this value from another club in a trade, rather than in the form of Boyd.

Roos talked about the 3 things that are important in footy: Contested footy, work rate and tackling. Those 3 will have to make big strides in different categories (especially work rate).

I really like the look of Kent. I love his pace and willingness to take the game on. He's perfect for the slingshot style of play. Hopefully he can get his aerobic ability up so that he can be a more consistently damaging player and play small bursts in the midfield (where I'd like to see his ability in tight). I'm sure he'll benefit from another preseason.

Of all options, that is the least logical.

Come one, I was still waiting for you to compare me with Hitler.

I am an undeniably handsome, 6'4 fighter pilot. And I am immortal. Let's see if that works.

There is a theme that is in the selections and it has been a common one this year. Run. We lack run in our team and it's why we have been getting blown off the park so often. It isn't about inside ball winners (as much as everyone will hate that - since the Sydney game we've been generally OK), or key forwards/defenders killing us, but rather it is a lack of running power across the team. So it is no surprise to see us go for extra running power wherever possible. This is shown by going for Pedersen as second ruck rather than Gawn, who could only play as a statue forward when not rucking while Pedersen can play as a running tall. Magner is a roaming accumulator, but doesn't have the run of Rodan or Toumpas. This was a clear theme in the draft last year and I would imagine that this theme will continue into this year's draft.

Explain to me how Yarran has both more talent and more application than Watts and therefore is a better proposition than him in a straight trade. Entertain me.
-
It is, but not in the way that you're thinking.
-
Yarran doesn't run hard, nor does he work for the team. Has talent, but so did Lawrence Angwin, Andrew Lovett etc. He has less application than Watts ..... and also less talent. Also, steve, I think you overestimate yourself. But, unlike Nasher, I actually find your meltdowns perversely amusing.

Just because seat belts haven't reduced the road toll to zero doesn't mean that they don't work. It's the same with DRS.
-
So, unless you travelled the country to see him play around Australia, you have seen him play once. Forgive me if I take your opinion with a few grains of salt..

Sheed shouldn't be mentioned in same breath as Martin and Hogan. In fact, you'd have to be breathing for a while before you got to Sheed.

If we needed Wines as much as you say we do then Magner would be playing now. Or Couch. Or McKenzie. They aren't. Remind me again of all the classy, hard running finishing midfielders we have one the list at the moment that can take Toumpas' spot. Who are they? Look at the players we selected in the draft: - Toumpas, Viney, Kent, Jones, Terlich, Stark, Clisby, Barry. - We also brought in Dawes, Hogan, Pederson, Byrnes and Rodan. Aside from Viney (and Stark as a rookie), every non-KPP we drafted was a running outside player that could hit targets. Drafting Wines would have been totally against this. Why was this the case? Well look at the weekend, where our inability to run and hit targets resulted in us losing by over 100 points. I would assume that we will probably follow this path again, as we get more and more runners with good skills. So who are the hard running, skilful midfielders that are ready to take Toumpas' spot?
-
And if Toumpas turns out to be a better player than Wines .......? Should the Bulldogs have picked Terlich at pick 4? Terlich has been doing better than Macrae. Maybe GWS should have picked Matt Jones at pick 2, because O'Rourke has done nothing so far, while Jones has played nearly every game. I would have thought that selecting players for today was the idea of trading, while drafting was for the long term. It's probably my fault for accepting mediocrity, rather than being irrational.
-
If Wines was playing for us, then I could guarantee that there would be posters saying "We have so many butchers of the footy and now it looks like we've wasted pick 4 on another one. FMD!" They'd probably be the same ones that currently whine about Toumpas.

I was on that same forum and Carlton were bemoaning their lack of key forwards. They were suggesting that the Blues should target Jesse Hogan.

Porte had a phenomenal ride. He was much stronger than Froome and also did all the work for him up both climbs. Froome had a bad day, but Porte was every bit as strong as Quintana and Rodriguez, which is a great sign for him.
