Farewell Sam Weideman
Good luck Sam Weideman we all hoped your success would be with us but that never came to fruition, thanks for helping us win the flag at Casey this year. Take care Sam.โ ๐

Farewell Brodie Grundy
At the start of the Quest the figures being mentioned and never denied was MFC $600k, Pies $300k over 5 Years - we pay $3m, Pies pay $1.5m. Pies needed to offload the money so they could fit DeGoeys salary into the cap. There has been a bit of too-ing and fro-ing happening on DL but think the original scenario would be closest to the pin.!!!

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Well that feels a bit better if we can get Max and Brodie superfit look out 2023 and beyond. Just need that extra big forward and backup ruck and we will be on a roll.!!!

Trade and Free Agency rumours
Is it just me, I feel exhausted by this trade period so far, as it appears that everyone has achieved their goals bar us. The Hunt trade for steak knives from the AFL left me feeling angry, Bedfords trade helped get Jacko deal over the line and we still didnโt crack into the top 10 ( for a Unicorn?) and we still havenโt completed the trade for Grundy. Now Weid has been dropped into the pan for what gain? And we are still trying to offload Thommo. I am hoping that Weid and Thommo will be player swaps to help ease my anxiety levels.!!!

Farewell Luke Jackson
Yes just watched him on Ch7 Perth caught up with Freo mid season met the coach and players and decided thatโs where he was going. No wonder his form dropped off at the pointy end of the season he knew he was outta here. Bit sad but thatโs how things go sometimes.!!!

Farewell Luke Jackson
You are correct Demon17 LJ will be MFC LifeMember when he retires, he won the Rising Star and Premiership Medallion as a 19 Year old and that was extra cool for our club and Recruitment team. We do get Pick 13 and their future 1st and 2nd rounders next year so something to work with in 2023. Good luck LJ and Toby but not when you play the Dees.

PODCAST: Season Review & Trade Wrap
I guess my main query is why did we change our strategy from being a high running high scoring second half side to being a higher scoring first half team that couldnโt run the game out. Was it team structure/ team fitness or change in game plan? How do we address our poor second halves, do we have the right mix in the FD? To play deeper into the finals in 2023 where do you think that our improvement will come from?

Farewell Sam Weideman
Although I am sorry that Sam didnโt work out for MFC I wish him all the best at Bombers he could do alright as a lead up forward standing next to Wright in their forward line. Good luck Sam safe travels.!!

Farewell Sam Weideman
I donโt want to bang on about our Ruck/forward depth but I have thought that it was our greatest weakness even with LJ/Sam/Majak and Mitch on the list. So I am hopeful that JT / Tim Lamb are Focussing on suitable replacements, we fell over in latter stages of this year due to a lack of suitable options. Majak to injured, Mitch to light, LJ mentally checked out and Sam on the never to be played List. Now is the time to be bold, go after a competent forward and a young ruckman that we can develop under Gawn and Grundyโs tutelage and forget about bringing smalls in on the Rookie List. Get the best talls available to fill the holes or we could be in the same position again next year. As previously mentioned, there are some VG options at state level and Casey, Ellison and Bell leap to mind. We are freeing up salary so must have someone on the radar for next year so letโs top up sensibly this year.

Farewell Luke Jackson
The pressure is really starting to build and that is what Freo want, same with Lions and Bulldogs and Lobbe is in the middle. Itโs a house of cards Freo want us to sweat and second guess their intentions as we have the most to lose, they are hoping that we buckle. Eagles are sitting on the sidelines waiting to see who blinks first knowing that we have a weak hand going into the draft and may have to get a deal done to save face and get something back. LJ has gone from the Golden Goose to Xmas Pudding according to Freo and Eagles. Grrrrr.!!

Josh Bruce
Apparently he was excited to get to the Dees until he real DL. Lol.!!!

2022 Player Reviews: #12 Toby Bedford
Toby was really liked by his teammates and I would have liked to have seen him given more opportunities particularly in the second half of 2022 hell we could have used those fresh legs. I hope he goes on to become a GWS regular and makes a stellar career for himself.

2022 Player Reviews: #29 Jayden Hunt
Really liked Jayden I liked him as a person and as a MFC player and agree with Poita best 22 and shouldnโt have been let go.!!!
-
2022 Player Reviews: #19 Fraser Rosman
Our recruitment team pushed hard for Fraser and I was hoping for that special 6โ4โ fast wingman that could run, mark and kick long. Sadly not to be.!!!

2022 Player Reviews: #6 Luke Jackson
Luke Jackson Premiership Hero in 2021 I remember watching him after the game standing on the ground in front of his family looking like he felt he didnโt belong. I was wondering why he wasnโt hugging his teammates and holding the cup.!! Will always be a Hero and remembered for those ecstatic 17 minutes that turned the game but not for his 2022.!!!

2022 Player Reviews: #38 Mitch Brown
Love Mitchโs story dual VFL premiership player with 79 AFL games in between. Great height but a bit light on for AFL will be greatly missed at Casey.!!
-
2022 Player Reviews: #34 Deakyn Smith
We certainly need a Neville Jetta replacement to cover small forwards is Deakin our man? Whatโs the feedback from Casey watchers. Strikes me as looking a bit lost in the limelight of AFL footy.!!
-
2022 Player Reviews: #33 Oskar Baker
He was very good in the Granny feel sorry for Sauce heโs good to very good at VFL, is he a late developer is he third in line for Jaydenโs role or just depth. I think that we should either give him a run at it or let him go.!!!
-
2022 Player Reviews: #20 Adam Tomlinson
Provides great depth and with another preseason into his reco could help us to get Petty forward to see what heโs got.!!
-
2022 Player Reviews: #44 Joel Smith
I think that we are all really hoping that Joel stays fit and finds a spot in our starting 23 in 2023.!!!
-
Josh Bruce
We thought we had LJ long term, stuffed us completely.
-
Josh Bruce
True mo64 but we are seriously lacking a tall forward and none of our kids apart from JVR fill the bill. I want JVR playing round 1 with Bruce a short term option to provide coverage for TMac and BB we got monstered when we lost both of them this year.
-
JVR, Laurie, Howes, AMW, Turner, Chandler
According to Draft stats Taj is extra quick over first 20m.
-
JVR, Laurie, Howes, AMW, Turner, Chandler
I would definitely include Taj in this list showed a bit in the Granny and has pace and stamina and looks a chip off the old block.! Howes also looks the goods, 6โ3โ has pace and skill just needs to build the tank and resilience for AFL and Disco at 6โ4โ is ready to go add in JVR also 6โ4โ and with another pre-season should hold down the second tall for us. There are boys and will need a couple of years as role players before they really blossom. Me I am expecting big improvements from Kozzie, Sparrow, Jordon, Petty, Rivers, Salem and Lever. Not sure about the other boys but you should never put limitations on young players, some will surprise you and some will frustrate and disappoint you.
