  1. Now the Freeman deal with St Kilda & Collingwodd is probably holding up any Howe deal, and that is being held up by St Kilda & Essendon's Carlisle deal. We'll be waiting a few days on this one.
  2. It's an arbitrary value applied by the AFL.It doesn't mean that picks 24 & 25 are more value than pick 8, except for use in terms of bidding and nothing more.
  3. Surely Collingwood should receive fines/sanctions for encouraging a player to undergo surgery whilst still on another club's list and no certainty to end up on their own. Highly questionable conduct.
  4. According to some. I've been staunch - don't stupidly overpay, but get it done.
  5. But you are talking about an arbitrary value applied only for the purposes of academy/FS bidding. I don't think it necessarily applies here.
  6. And making certain that it actually gets done at all, rather than waiting for another club to intervene & muddy the waters...
  7. Really? I'm really surprised at the posters fawning over Angry's ridiculous proposal.
  8. I like your thinking. Maybe not necessary though. Nice to have it there kept up our sleeve as a last resort.
  9. Howe a Gunston-IsaacSmith-hybrid? Playing to Buckley's self confidence and ego beautifully -- play Howe in the backline and have other coaches convinced that his abilities are being under-utilised by having him in the wrong position, and that they could find ways to get the best out of the raw tools Howe possesses. Dangle the bait of imagining what they could do with a player like that, instead of showing them the reality of trying it and exposing his weaknesses. We should get "too much" for Howe in my opinion.
  10. St Kilda would know what they have offered Carlisle, and would probably know it's not a patch on what Hawthorn could fit within their cap, so the likelihood of him turning down a switch to Waverley is great.
  11. Close enough. As in close enough for Howe to be happy to stay in Melbourne, and not still want to leave the state because the difference was so great. If it really is significantly more, that works in our favour if we want to eventually talk him into still going to GC, as I doubt Collingwood will offer anything we really want.
  12. Surely just posturing now that he has a clear preference, or at least a Melbourne-based club has agreed to come close enough to the $$$ offered at GC.
  13. I still can't get my head around how Jed Anderson and pick 41 is worth pick 15. My only thought is that maybe my suspicions are correct - this draft is so weak that even pick 15 is seen as a poor chance of a good return, so there is little to be lost in what is usually a high value pick. Even after pick 7 it seems to be very thin.
  14. It's been floated well before that too.
  15. Dodoro is a genius for loading up on picks in the 2003 draft revisited? Ok then...
  16. Uh... Yeah, I posted about this when the bidding system first came in. It's nothing that wouldn't have been considered already.
  17. Brayyyyyyyyyden Mayyyyyyyyyyynard
  18. Surely Essendon will move a handful of their picks to GWS for some assorted young talent.
  19. Snakes on a plane! Very happy to welcome Jake Melksham who I feel will be making a lot of people very happy to have been wrong.
  20. I think we purposely played him in defense so there was little recent exposed form of him playing up forward. Similar to Frawley last season.
  21. I think you'll find it's spelling, not grammar.
  22. Apologies to Ed Byrne..?
  23. I can't see the point in recruiting him.
  24. Not getting Prestia this year may be a blessing. Next year he'll be out of contract, therefore making a trade more likely without needing to pay massive overs, and we'll have a good idea how he has recovered from his meniscus injury.
