Oliver: The Forgotten Superstar?
They had to throw Cripps up forward because they needed to get him I to the game. If Cripps had kicked those goals that's not on Oliver, thats on our defenders. He did his job on the day.

Oliver: The Forgotten Superstar?
Agree. When I think of superstars I think of Martin, Fyfes, Franklin's of the world. Oliver is not in that "superstar" category.....yet

Jake Lever.. Can someone explain??
Yes i agree. But he wasn't worth two first round draft picks RM. His two games so far this season hasn't been exactly promising. He has time on his hands, but based on output so far and how much we've given up for, he has been disappointing. I am not including last year as i am willing to cut him slack. Anyway I have already mentioned this a few pages back so I dont want to keep banging on about. I expect a much improved performance on the weekend.

Ricciuto on Lever
800k and two 1st round draft picks for Lever... Only at Melbourne.

Oliver: The Forgotten Superstar?
Completely shut down Cripps on the weekend. But you won't hear that in the media because Cripps is a "Good bloke"...

TRAINING: Round 03

Jake Lever.. Can someone explain??
Fair chance he'll get dropped this weekend.

CHANGES: Rd 03 vs Essendon
In fairness to Smith Rod, he has just played his 12th game of AFL. So in a roundabout way you're right we've barely seen him in action. But he deserves time right? Like all players? To be honest I thought he actually impacted the game far more then Jake Lever. His closing speed on McKay to impact the contest and then win the footy was really exciting to see. I understand we are all impatient, but there is something to work with in Smith. He needs continuity and more game experience.

CHANGES: Rd 03 vs Essendon
Can we not derail quality threads like this with politics please? Bringing this back on Topic, the more I think about the more I think there will be two changes. Weideman has to be a given, these reports suggest he did everything he is asked. I would like to keep Jackson in, but if he has to make way for Weideman then I'm still happy enough. If McDonald has another poor game then Mitch Brown will be breathing down his neck. Kossie is an automatic selection for me. Who does he come in for though?? Still want to see Vanders squeezed some how.

CHANGES: Rd 03 vs Essendon
He played that role really well against Adelaide and North in the praccy match.

CHANGES: Rd 03 vs Essendon
Brown is a lot more agile then Tmac. Problem is hes coming up against two big defenders in Hurley and Hooker who will just out muscle him. Brown is better off being the 3rd tall forward behind Weid and McDonald.

The Need for Outside Midfielders
Interestingly i was just looking at the stats from the weekend and we actually won the clearances by 1, and contested footy 111 Carlton to Melbourne's 114. I was shocked when i saw that as i felt they really had the upper measure in both aspects.

CHANGES: Rd 03 vs Essendon
You've made some good points here. I am also in the camp of just getting Weideman in and play him for the rest of the year. We have [censored] around with his development and he needs continuity in his game. I am also in the thought of having all 3 of Jackson, Weid, and Mcdonald as our 3 key forward. Jackson to part time ruck which leaves Weideman and McDonald to just focus on being key forwards full time. I also hate this whole playing Bayley Fritsch from deep full forward. Justin Plapp our forwards coach has a lot to answer to this. He's best utilised as a half forward which his clean kicking skills on display.

Welcome to Demonland: Trent Rivers
Interestingly Hayden Young debuted on the weekend who plays a similar role to what Rivers does. Young had 11 disposals 46% disposal efficiency 3 tackles and 92 metres gain. Rivers had 12 Disposals, 87% disposals efficiency, 2 tackles and 286 metres gain. They'll both have good careers, but Rivers impact on the game over the weekend cannot be underestimated.

The Need for Outside Midfielders
How do you imply we got smashed on the outside when we actually won the uncontested possession count 187 to Carltons 162.......

Angus Brayshaw
Loved Sparrows game from the marsh game against Adelaide. Unfortunately he's pretty much the same player as Viney. Doubt he'll get much of a look unless injuries.

Jake Lever.. Can someone explain??
It was McKay, i do remember that bit of play. His closing speed was actually quite remarkable. I think it was in the pocket? I'm honestly bullish on him. Besides 2 brain fades he actually defended quite well. I feel like he is the type of player that just gets better with each game of experience. Lets take into account it was his first game since March 2019. Hes come straight in on tje back of no VFL form. He'll get better.

Angus Brayshaw
He is a yarrawonga boy like myself so I've seen his football growing up as he is good friends with my younger brother. Watched a live game of him last year. Hes a good kid with maturity beyond his years. But seriously mate, he might get a game or two but to suggest he'll overtake Brayshaw is simply laughable. He is a good honest plodder, who struggles first half of the year at VFL last year. I'll revisit this thread when he's starting mid by the end od the year.

Agree, hes an honest plodder. With the list reductions this year, i expect Jordon to be cut.
