This is really interesting and good take. I've always seen him as someone that will potentially step into the midfield. To me he's very similar to Zak Butters from Port Adelaide in terms of speed, size and toughness. I mean, we genuinely underestimate how hard he is for such a little fella. I remember Jason Taylor's comment in the 2020 draft video where he stated that Bowey could be a Sam Mitchell type midfielder. So the potential to move up the ground is there.

I think its silly to rule it out as 'Ever'. He was drafted as a 1st rounder playing as a pure half forward/wing. So he's got the talent in that area that Goodwin will experiment with imo. @Demon Dynasty Even spoke to Jake at Training and Bowey mentioned that this is an option that the club may look into over the next year or two.
  3. Yep agree, tagging two mids at once just takes away our midfield strength as well. Why have two starting mids play a negating role whilst the other is left to then fight and scrap from an offensive point of view.. Back our system in. Sparrow imo, is edging close to a break out game in the midfield. He's been building the last couple of weeks. Potential 30 plus on Friday night hopefully.

    Now we're talking...

Then how does he get back in? To be honest I haven't seen any signs of McVee looking tired. I'm all for resting blokes if need but only if it's there. Can't see why he can't play every game from here on. Remember Rivers, Jackson and Pickett all played every game of the year in their 2nd season back in 2021.

I'd be incredibly shocked. No one has still answered my question in who he's replacing in our back 6? If Bowey had to come through the 2's off the back off a one week concussion then Hibberd is doing the exact same off a 3 week injury.

Mate it'll have zero long term effect. It's a muscle strain. Further strengthening around the legs and his core will get him back to normal again Nd hopefully better management by the club would be a good start.
  8. Doesn't need a rising star nomination to justify how much of an absolute gun he is.
  9. Unfortunately for Dew I think this had to happen. Their list is choc full of talent but yet they're one of the most irrelevant club in thr competition. They stand for nothing and I think Dimma will give them some edge and toughness about them on and off the field.
  10. Running around with it cost us in the end because Rohan was able to kick two quick goals in the last to put us out of reach. Probably didn't help also that our sub was a 173cm small forward... Just to clarify I'm absolutely not putting the blame on Hibbo at all because there were other factors in the game why we lost. So then who comes out for him? Our back 6 are keeping opposition sides to a relatively low scores whether we win or lose. They're all executing their roles perfectly imo. This is my take • Rivers is one of our most improved players over the 12 months and its laughable there's mentions of him being dropped. • Since Bowey has come back in he's completely shut down Dan Butler and Toby Bedford so he absolutely stays. • Judd McVee is one of tthe most coolest and composed young player I think I've ever seen. I say that because he's playing in a position where the pressure stakes can be extremely high when opposition teams are generating forward entries. His ability to not only defend first but compose himself with ball in hand will be extremely crucial come finals. He absolutely stays in the team. • Salem is Salem. A gun. There's no arguments for this one. Then that leaves us with May, Petty and Lever. All 3 are rock solid and I'm starting to see some good cohesion again with these guys back playing together again. With all that in mind we're still forgetting that Brayshae will go back once Oliver is back in the team. Another who imo plays his best footy down back. Hibbo will just need to bide his time unless a spot opens up.
  11. Hibbo is cooked unfortunately and should be made to earn his spot back. Love the guy big time but the reality is he's body is simply letting down and his last performance against Gary Rohan was to be quite blunt, was embarrassing as he got exposed for speed and height. Back 6 is fine as it is. I have zero concerns with them especially as Brayshaw can also come back if need.

Disappointing that we're still at this point where it seems we are no where near close to finding a home base. Wasn't this the reason why Roffey was put in place for president because of her expertise in this field of work?
  13. Nah this is a [censored] take. To play 100 games at two different clubs is a rare feat now days. A nice little acknowledgement would have been nice still. Takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice to get to that position and he's given the club fantastic service over the years.
  14. Blake Howes seemed to be walking fine after the game.
  15. I hate watching it on TV, but you think most interstate supporters can simply just turn up to games on a Saturday night? So of course you're going to get many who judge a football game based on what they see on TV. The saints pressure was very evident just watching it TV as well you know? I made this exact same comment in the game day thread late in the last quarter. Their pressure was immense and we were able to adsorb that well. Whilst i agree that sometimes you cant see the work that's being put in by the players off the screen, there's really not even a gap at all between what you see on the ground and on the screen.
  16. Nah. I think some actually have the right to call it as they see it based on his past 3 weeks of poor performances. You bring up pressure acts for starters. Do you know James Harmes had the 2nd highest pressure acts last week againdt the giants with 24. ANB had 28. Do you know what this guarantee? Nothing. Even his higher pressure and defensive game couldn't save him from getting the chop from team selection this week. Kozzie won't get dropped, but it absolutely needs to come under serious consideration because right now, he's playing lazy and soft football. There was a moment there where the footy was there to be won against and in coming saint and he shirked it and tried to toe poke it. It was very poor look.
  17. The last time he played on Cameron he got 5 kicked on him. Pass.
  18. Agree, [censored] comment. People who live interstate and physically can't get to the games are now not allowed to give an opinions and observations on the game? Spare me alright. Anyway, my take on the game from the benefit of my couch. The Saints will be fine under Ross. He's a very good coach and even being out of the time he's tinkered his game plan and added new elements. Saints will be an interesting watch over the next few years. Still need to add some talent of depth and I think they'll be knocking on the door. It was a nearly game for us. At times we looked like we were going to pile on the goals but whether that was still the last kick inside 50 thay costs us or a simple turnover then it's something we still need to get better at. I think the Gawn/Grundy comments have been valid. Unfortunately Max was poor where as upon reflection Brodie wasn't as bad as I thought. At least when he's in the ruck he's trying to stay involved in the game with his follow up work and tackling. This might put people off but imo I think I'd rather Grundy be given more minutes as a starting ruck and let him work his way into the game. Have Gawn as a bit of a supporting act for thr next few weeks. Wouldn't hurt to start Gawn on the bench just to have him cherry ripe for finals. Melksham had an almost game as well. So unlucky not to have taken at least 2 of those near attempted marks in front of goals. Would have easily had 4 goals on the night. With our forward structure, still think we are still lacking a tall forward up there. I really want to see how the JVR/Brown combo looks. I reckon Brown taking the number 1 defender eases so much pressure on Van Rooyen. He's just too good to be not playing senior footy. Our backs were absolutely super last night! Didn't realise Lever was being tagged which just shows how highly regarded he is within coaching ranks, especially by Ross Lyon. May turn thr clock back and was back to his 2021 All Australian best. Keep that form up and we'll be fine. Bowey completely shut down Dan Butler, Petty was great until he went off, hopefully nothing serious. Thought Rivers ball use was poor but still won some crucial one on ones. And finally, Woewodin looked like a senior player. Didn't realise how clean he was, but he's certainly got some class. Didn't one bit look like a kid that was overawed by the occasion. It's the little things that you notice such as his beautiful kick to Petracca's advantage to set up that goal. The attack on the ball in the last to then win it and dish it off near the half forward as well as his left foot kick into deep 50 to set up Langdon. He certainly gets a game next week that's for sure.
  19. They had 3 players down earlier on the game and could have easily snatched that. Bit of a meh feeling to be honest but I'll take the win.
  20. Handballs handballs handballs!
  21. This is embarrassing.
  22. Can't say I've been impressed with this performance.
  23. Steven May a CLEAR best on ground.
  24. Ffs what a diabolical 5 minutes.
  25. Yes he is. Both have been disappointing.
