There is an inkling Sinnema may fall to us as a rookie if there is no bid which seems very unlikely it will come. After watching Sinnema in some of his Dandenong games and the Casey game this year i reckon Rookie selection is a steal imo.

Agree about McClure and we have seen so many times how blatantly wrong he is over the journey. I honestly dont mind the bigger contracts, I suppose in a way it gives that club leverage in case they do request a trade eg Carlton with Curnow, Melbourne with Petracca... I think with TPP going up again these longer contracts will just end up being the norm in think. Wouldn't be surprised if we start to see 9 years deals somewhere along the way. I do agree with you as well i that I think 5 years is a good enough starting point with the trigger for a six. I know he broke up with his partner Soph in early 2022 but going off what Goodwin and Pert said, his off field behaviour was still an issue when he signed his long term deal.

Sounds like Petracca and Oliver deals will get done eventually but May probably the likely chance he stays.

I dont actually don't claim to know anything unless i go off facts which i have done. What I dont do is guesswork like you have made out with the whole Petracca being toxic (clearly made that up) and our board now offering contracts to players to which you still haven't provided any evidence or confirmation of things actually happening.. but sure, you just keep on guessing away. Met with Teague at the end of 2020 season in which he was still contracted under and at the time of probably not knowing where success was coming. He signed his monster deal in mid 2022 when he was already contracted for another 18 months and off the back of a premiership and probably 10 game winning streak. There is absolutely no way he was EVER going to entertain any offers by then.

You're missing my point once again. I have zero issues with long term contracts. But why give a dude thats completely off the rails a 7 year contract 🤣 literally setting him up to fail not succeed. Honestly, give him a 3 year deal if you have too with some behavioural clauses included. Petracca deserved his because not only did he live up to the expectations and perform but he has been an absolute professional all the way to the end as we speak. I hate the thought of losing him but have accepted that its probably best for both parties.

He was still contracted for another year when he signed the initial deal so tough luck on those other clubs considering he still had 18 months to go. Seems a protected species on this thread.. 🤣

Absolutely he was, but that wasn't my point. His off field antics were causing the club issues back then so then offering a 7 year deal on top of that isnt the smartest thing this club has done. I was all for the Petracca long term contract and even with Kozzies this year, and even if Petracca does leave then I still have no issues with his contract status.. but how the club felt fit to offer Oliver a monster contract on top of his off field behaviour is just mind blowing really.

Oliver's off field issues was fairly present at the time of when he signed his contract back in 2022. This has been confirmed by Goodwin and Pert.

Since the Ben Brown pick up back in 2020 remind me once again on who we have picked since then that has made a significant contribution on field? I'll wait.
