  1. You do realise Echuca to Shepparton is only a 50 minute drive right? There are hundreds of people that commute to and from for work, kids that travel to each for school and then there are country footballers that are based in Shepp who play footy in Echuca and vice versa. You're making out that it's a few hours drive from each other and that people don't communicate with others from different town. Couldn't be more further from the truth, especially country town all close ro vicinity as your mum would know. Your personal connection is no different to mine. Your mum works with his mother. The guy I spoke to is a close friend of Steve but also golfing buddy also At the end of the day I am only passing on info as you are and I certainly don't doubt the information being provided.
  2. Would be a super outcome for us.
  3. Lol nah.. didn't get called out at all bro. If that's what been called out looks like to you then you're completely off the mark 😅 Have another go.
  4. Go back and read properly. This was prior to the Pert sourcing our trade talk they were happy with the club support around Oliver especially dating back to last year when he went off the rails and Goodwin gave him some tough love but also wrapped his full support around him. So of course Clayton and his family were completely blind sided and were pretty disappointed with how it all played out and still are. Can i just remind you that this all comes back on Gary Perts decision to bypass the likes of Green, Goodwin and Clayton's management which had caused tensions internally. I'll be incredibly shocked if Pert is with us come round 1 next year. That part is based off my own personal opinion and nothing else.
  5. Reckon he's upside is enormous. He's got Will Day like traits that I think under a professional environment he could explode in a few years time. That or he just becomes another Jayden Hunt.
  6. I know they love the footy club. I've bumped into them from time to time and have known then since Oliver's under 18's days. They have nothing but love for the footy club. And good on her saying that, but if the old man is saying otherwise then it's up people to choose what they want to believe. Simply passing on what's been said.
  7. You've completely botched the way you're reading into this because I haven't slagged the club off in how they've handled it. If you actually take the time to read, I'm actually praising the club for going way above for their ongoing support and instead my criticism has been on Oliver with his off field behaviour and antics previously. What I said weeks ago which you're referencing, is exactly how the family felt of the club last year after the [censored] hit the fan. They were truly grateful for the support of the club especially Simon Goodwin towards Oliver even though his off field antics caused those inside the club and his family absolute grief. This year purely started off the back of Gary Pert simply asking a few questions to a few player agents coaches one being (Ross Lyon was one being close friends from Fitzroy days) and it caught not only Oliver camp blindsided but Goodwin and Richo too. As I said previously, his exit interview was robust and strong but also healthy in the way that he was in a much better state then this time last year and both parties walked out satsified heading into the new year with hope of a full pre season. Got his off field program all sorted and there was no issues. Because of the way it all unfolded, the Oliver camp were extremely disappointed so they decided to test the market and that's when Geelong came to the party and they both met up. After his initial meeting he was set on going to Geelong but his management team never requested a trade because the asking price was too much for Geelong in the middle of trying to deal with Bailey Smith. It was only ever a 50/50 and talk died once we set the price. This is why there is tensions with Gary Pert at the helm which has caused fractions internally. He instigated all this which blindsided a few key people within club including Richo, Goodwin, Green and Oliver which he and his family were incredibly hurt by.
  8. Great insight, thanks SB!
  9. Roan Steele has joined West Perth.
  10. My guess is it'll be out of Lindsay and Bo Allan for this pick.
  11. I still have Langford ahead as well. His ability to be a dangerous marking forward is pretty appealing.
  12. Reeally starting to warm to Smillie for our first pick.
  13. Not a fan of Reid at all to be honest. Whilst it's good to show you can win the footy at junior level, when you're 180cm slow midfielder you've got to have some sort of athletic trait that can separate you from the rest of the other elite mids, and in my opinion he doesn't have any. He's not quick, doesn't have that burst from stoppages and is on the slight side of his physical profile. Reminds me exactly of Hunter Clark who's an ordinary AFL player.
  14. Take your medication and go have a laid down old fella.
  15. Why would his father spin it different if Simon rang him? He's as honest as they come as is mother Michelle. They tell you how it is. The family felt the club treated Oliver during last year's saga with absolute care and professionalism. They were proud of the club in the way they wrapped support around because he simply went of the rails and even to the point where they both had to drive down and spend a few a few days with him as they were genuinely concerned for his welfare. This year, not so much. The whole Gary Pert situation completely blindsided them. Even in his exit meeting there was no discussion of a trade, it was all about getting his body right, completing his off season program with the goal of being fit ready to go come day one of pre season. I know one part of the reason to get to Geelong was pure lifestyle and needing to escape the bright lights or Melbourne. At the end of the day he's the boy from the country who still has incredible strong ties to his country roots. He's desperate to stay out of media headlines. The other part was obviously Geelongs leadership success and strong on field culture.
  16. Lol.. he's not going to publicity come out express a desire that he wanted to leave. He played a straight bat and exactly the answer you'd expect from someone that either had every intention of wanting to leave or was at least putting some serious consideration into it. Was speaking with an ex colleague last Thursday who worked with the Murray Bushrangers and is from Shepparton way. He knows his Dad Steve very well. His old man confirmed to him that Oliver and his family desperately wanted to leave for Geelong, but due to our high demand, Geelong could not cater to our needs. The asking price was too much for Geelong. The Oliver family/camp are incredibly disgruntled with the Dees in how this has all unfolded. Similar to the Petracca situation, there is some serious amending of the bridges that will need occur over the off season. You can spin whatever narrative you want about the media, but Oliver absolutely wanted to leave Melbourne.
  17. His after trade period press conference interview with the media.
  18. Tim Lamb has said we won't be going down the delisted free agent path this year. Put a line through him.
  19. Genuinely thought he was going to be a star forward for us after 2018. As others have point out, the moment he'd drop his head his confidence would be shot to the point where he looked like his emotions was going to spill over. Good luck to him.
  20. Armstrong at 5 is still too much of a reach. I don't rate him at all, I'd be disappointed if we picked him at 5.
  21. Both different, Langfords ability to play as a marking forward and score goals is why I have him ahead.
  22. Anyone check in on @bluey?
