  1. Ice creams on the other hand: Does anyone have two in a sitting? Cue memories of Peter's Two-In-Ones...
  2. May I join in? Who has ever stopped at two?
  3. I don't actually get what's being talked about in this part of the conversation but would 24-hour-clock times help, too? p.s. As to the rest of this thread's conversation, thanks posters; it's like an Advent calendar in October!
  4. After 'straight-sets-squared', all the age bracket labels need to be shifted up one line.
  5. That's OK; he wouldn't at Melbourne.
  6. Yeah, saw that - a 10 pt loss and our % drops by 70!!!
  7. 🐘 in the room, and as if you didn't have enough MFCSS fuel: the women are now playing the home-and-away part of Season 8 for this $1 million. Like I said on this week's game thread, serious football. With 4 rounds to go, Melbourne leads on 108 points, half a game ahead of Collingwood and Brisbane on 104 points and one-and-a-half games ahead of Adelaide on 96 (women's matches are worth 8 points cf 4 for the men's). Carlton is the only other contender; it will reach 118 points if it wins its 4 games, vs 7th, 11th, 12th and 16th. Melbourne plays 3rd and 20th at home and 4th and 17th away. Collingwood plays 8th and 9th at home and 6th and 13th away. Brisbane plays 1st and 2nd at home and 5th and 11th away. Adelaide plays 3rd and 18th at home and 4th and 17th away. Collingwood. Ugh.
  8. D'oh! 🥺 Anyway, I couldn't get to the game n haven't watched the replay yet, nor caught up with your in- and post-game impressions above. Just wanted to follow up, though, on another of my posts elsewhere, saying I hoped to retain watching this fabulous team just as a happy weekly experience, without concern for the result (which hasn't been much of a concern) or, particularly, for the 'ultimate prize'. Sadly, when I eventually saw yesterday's result, I realised I had crossed over that line. The women's weekly results now do affect me, and MFCSS-ish thoughts like we've lost GF hosting rights have kicked in. So now I know, at least: I'm as invested in the girls as I am in the boys. Serious football.
  9. If he does, MFC laundry staff are going to have so much more trouble with the white than the navy blue... Travel well James. Just don't cut us up like you cut teams up at Casey!
  10. Thanks @Wilson7. Topsy-turvy time for Deakyn!
  11. Yeah, I thought of Paxy's importance when reading about the Crow's midfield - someone who might trouble them, or at least distract them from a concentration on TH. Still, let's look forward to saying 'Silly us!' at about 5.30 on Saturday!
  12. A bit of bright-side output from our media folks today: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/1446925/building-continuity-smith-on-2023?videoId=1446925&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1696477952001 I enjoyed Joel's story this year. Bit disappointed he's only looking forward to 24 games next year, though. Perhaps, with his record, he's expecting 3 games' worth of niggles through the H&A?
  13. Now that'd be a generational shift!
  14. Not if we get to 'Standing room only'!
  15. That's the photo I wanted to post but was told it was too big! You must know someone at the top, DIO* (*... Equals 'God'. That explains it!...)
  16. No, definitely as I implied. Includes e.g. 'likely to sign this week' and headline is 'McQualter in Dees coach mix'.
  17. Substitute 'Oliver' for 'Petty' in that statement, how convinced would we be? Personally, I don't think he goes (nor does Clayton), but just sayin'...
  18. Apparently Tom was there, too: 'Harry and I caught up at a local restaurant. I can report he said, 'I've got a beef...bury it, or...' It was evident he wanted this kept quiet, but now...'
  19. From today's Shun, we apparently have AMcQ 'in the mix', 'weighing up' him against T. Chaplin. Unsurprisingly poor...
  20. You'll be flying in the other direction. That could mean some cheaper 'backloading' flights? Although, yes, the long long weekend may generate escapees...
  21. From Thursday, we may have that remarkable clean sheet. The ultimate 'nice headache for the selection committee to have' awaits!
  22. ...though his current n/n does sit well with the notion, on that other current thread, of a 'mini reset'.
  23. Mini, the hootchie-coocher, as our new coach, should perhaps warrant 'Cooch'?
  24. Thanks, Stone. You were clearly reading my mind.
  25. Somewhat of an antidote to that other current thread. 'Mini'? Pleez exploin!
