  2. On that basis no one in our forward line is playing well enough to keep their spots. The real problem is our midfield is incapable of honouring leads or at least giving our forwards a 50/50 chance. Valenti must have run over Dean's cat. He at least has some form & deserves a few games to show it. Miller is the only forward we have capable of taking a contested mark. Miller is continually contesting against the two best opposition tall defenders because we have no other key marking target worth worrying about. Miller went missing for extended periods last week because the ball was mostly at the other end of the ground. West Coast knew he couldn't mark the ball when they let him go.
  3. I'm not that convinced about the Presidents Lunch. The middle of the MCG prior to the game seems more appropriate. Let the grass roots supporters be involved. And show the football public at large what Melbourne supporters are really about. And just maybe Liam may be allowed to be involved as well. The Fork hands the jumper to Liam, who then gives it into the care of Susie to take back to the community. A bit fanciful??
  4. Sent $20 by snail mail. Thanks to fork and all concerned.....done our Club proud!! By the way Susie has an item on the Mt Theo facebook page which is of interest.
  5. Given that you have refused to confirm you heard the speech first hand, I can only assume you didn't. You are quoting questionable third hand reports of what was said, and in what context. You are just not credible.
  6. Were you there? Yes or No. Never yet heard Jim Stynes denigrate the football club or past administrations. A few chips on a few shoulders ? I think so.
  7. No, No & No. I don't believe Jim's use of the word "exclusivity" was intended to apply to women alone. His focus has been to embrace every Demon..man ,woman & child. Demon Summit, Youth Summit, past presidents, past players , business people...the list goes on. I have been a passionate supporter all my life, but I never ever felt a part of it. I do now. Since Jim took over, I have spoken Jim himself, Cameron Schwab, Chris Connolly, Dean Bailey, Ron Barassi & a number of the playing group. I would never have had those opportunities previously. That to me is the breaking down of exclusivity. I have never been a critic of the previous board. I felt they did the best they could. But this whole thing smacks of petty jealousy.
  8. There is no valid reason why. Personally - I travel between 2 & 3 hours each way to the MCG (depends on the Monash Carpark). But that's OK. I have had the same reserved seat for 5 years. It's always there when I get there. I have been to the Dome once. Too much pain getting there, parking & getting out again. I just won't go there. From the club's point of view - Battle to increase membership only to have home games pulled mid season. Break the cycle of selling home games to Brisbane for money, then forced to do so to benefit other clubs. Let the incumbents play there - move Round 15 Hawthorn v North Melbourne from Aurora.
  9. I also agree. Problem with making hard & fast rules is that players will then risk serious injury to exploit them. The real issue is that players seem afraid to protect themselves for fear of being called soft. The ability to give & take a bump without serious injury was always one of the great skills of the game. I thought Selwood did everything right & turned slightly side on to take the impact. Rance just dived head first into him.
  10. Three things I am certain of - 1. Wayne Jackson is, and always was, a chip-on-shoulder, agenda driven South Australian. 2. The media in this state are puppets to any big noting nobody who wants to spew up their opinion on the woes of the world & how to fix them. 3. Jim Stynes will never oversee a merger of Melbourne Football Club. Wayne, go back to obscurity where you belong.
  11. And he did play preseason. He definitely played in the intra club game & I'm sure he played against the Bulldogs
  12. Should he also suggest Adelaide & Port merge? Adelaiade are falling away on field & Port are broke.
  13. I think "moronic" was the the first bit of name calling and you "reverted" to it. And I wasn't arguing, just stating facts.
  14. I almost responded angrily to this until I read the last line and realised what a tossbag you are. And no I didn't go today for reasons that have f all to do with you.
  15. In: Valenti, Maric, Meesen, Whelan (or Bail) Out: McLean, Bate, Johnson, Bartram
  16. Hisense sounds logical. Tease us some more Hankook - is it a good deal?
  17. If we were interested in Sibosado, why wouldn't we have taken him in the draft? If anyone else was interested, why wouldn't they have jumped in after we passed? I don't think anyone is that interested. Could it be he is no good? Other issues? DeBoer or Hughes for me.
  18. This is a point that came up at the recent summit. Unless people have previous history with the club, the club may not know of them. I would encourage anyone with this type of information to pass it on via the email address quoted by mickrocks. I am confident that the current regime will act on any such information.
  19. The thing I find hard to take is that he has had four years of resource invested in him. e.g. Jeff White ensured that Fremantle were compensated when he left. But then again perhaps that indicates that he is not rated all that highly. Carlton are no certainty to get him and don't seem too concerned one way or the other.
  20. Spent some time with a couple of others chatting to the coach. Robbo- aiming for round 1 at this stage. Brock- starting to jog. Ahead of schedule. Rivers- guarded but is quietly confident he is on track. Is pain free & feeling good about himself. Davey- ahead of schedule. Paul Johnson - on schedule. Maric - hip operation-on schedule. On - Jamar - have the impression DB thinks he needs to back himself more. Takes games on but then worries himself out of form. - Meeson - needs to make a big step up & prove he has it this year. - Buckley - will be "something special" - has it all. - Grimes - very enthused about him. - Sylvia - free of injury and going well. Seemed very positive about him. Seemed unimpressed by any of the ruck options that would be available to us in the draft. Guess that means NN won't be #1. Very positive about Casey training base. Travel not a problem when you know where you will be training weeks in advance rather than days or even hours. Definitely in favour of the Demon logo. Stressed the need to recruit players who can kick to advantage. The phrases "our club" & "my club" used a number of times. Body language between DB,CC,Jim, Cameron Schwab etc really excellent. No cross purposes there.
  21. On the contrary, Dean has shown some class. No doubt they are still working through the situation. It doesn't need to be dealt with on SEN. I'm sure a statement will be made around list lodgement time.
