Really hope this happens we need as many tall options as we can get and he is ready to go, one will work out eventually
-
Good pickup if we can make it happen without giving up much, we really lacked in depth this year and this will help address that
-
But you also don’t trade him out for nothing but a hand shake either, his value is rock bottom right now, even if we go through this again next year we could still get the same deal then and most likely much better if he is actually committed to getting his body right
-
It’s been put to bed by the president and our list boss within the last week, the only ones digging it up are the media because they have nothing better to talk about with only 3 trades in 3 days.
-
Well trading pick 9 and next year first plus something else would give them kako and pick 5, while it would allow us to get 9 and we can on trade Essendons first next year and our first next year for saints pick 8 or something giving us the 2 picks inside 10 plus an extra 2nd round I’d guess. It’s gets the 2 picks inside 10 we want
-
Think Essendon will be aiming to trade down so they can get Kako and a player before, if anything they will want our pick 5, so we should be able to get 9 and next years first if we wanted at a minimum
-
Really don’t like the idea of trading our first pick next year and a 2nd this or next for a pick 11/12/13, with everything going on it’s hard to see us making finals let alone deep finals. We would need to be finishing top 4 for this to make any sense and although in theory this draft might be deeper than average I’m sure we would get a just as good or better player next year in most likely scenarios I’ll preface this by saying that if Kalani White is a low first round pick next year then it could make sense
-
So if last year was his final warning and he’s broken there trust again you want to give him another chance just because. Sounds like the kind of poor culture that has got us in this position to start with
-
One of the many things that I don’t understand about this why would we shop him round to cats who have the least trade capital, why would we not be shopping him to north or saints or hawks
-
Because the media needs it to happen, they cant make 2 weeks of content where the biggest story is Bailey Smith and what cats will trade for him
-
Guess that’s the million dollar question everyone seems to be saying something different, I’d agree if he hasn’t changed then let him go.
-
If we are bottom 4 next year it probably is better to trade him if he truely wanted out, he would still have massive value and lets us fast track a rebuild before Tasmania comes in
-
Yes and incoming, it’s up-to dees if we want to trade, realistically it’s a salary dumb if we do. Personally unless he’s fallen off the wagon again I’d be waiting 12 months as if he can get his form back at a minimum it would increase our bargaining position at worst we get the same deal, I can’t see his stock falling any further.
-
That’s about the dumbest thing I’ve ever read
-
It was Tom Morris saying someone in Clarries camp thinks dees would trade for a future first and a player, hardly the most reliable reporter or sources I doubt even Oliver himself would know what dees might want for him
-
It’s quite possible Clarry is thinking the grass is greener and maybe this is our way of getting him to look round and see what the reality would be for him outside the mfc, I doubt he would get the special treatment and latitude he has received at Melbourne from anyone else. What other captain from any other club is going to board him while he get over his issues that almost derailed his career while there wife is almost due to give birth. It’s going to be almost 2 years now that Carrie had been paid like a million dollar player and playing like a half million dollar player.
-
No one is bigger than the club, besides Oliver hasn’t held up his end of the bargain after signing his new contract. I don’t have any issue if we want to wait another year and see how he is going then but I’m not against a trade if we can work something out that doesn’t involve us paying his wage and get a talented player back who can immediately play a role
-
But they nearly always come back. Maybe the grass isn’t always greener and things at dees aren’t so bad
-
Still doesn’t change the fact that unless you are replacing him with another asset then its all for nothing unless you only care about playing a million under the cap next year to make the balance sheet look better. As to discontent unless we have players saying it’s Oliver or me and those players are higher on the totem poll than Oliver then it makes even less sense To whit do you trade in a Ferrari for a new VW golf because it broke down and is a deprecating asset
-
Well it’s more what he’s worth to us a late first round is fairly useless to us so unless we simply what him out which I think is a weak move by the club if so and will be one we regret.
-
With the way the media report particularly around trade period it’s all very loose and fast you can’t really believe anything, but just like a broken clock they will be right every now and again, whether that’s through anything other than dumb luck is debatable
-
If he might help fix the fwd line I’m all for it, we won’t be going far if we stick with the same lineup
-
Anb out Caleb in, his best was quite good not sure what’s happened
-
We already quite slow in the middle we don’t need another one plus he can’t kick over a jam tin
