  1. Difference was when Frawley left we weren’t risking anything we were basically bottom of the ladder and the only way was up. Granted it worked out as we got hogan and then may for hogan. Petty still has 2 more years on his contract, why rush into a trade when we have no obvious replacement we can always revisit next year once things become clearer and maybe we have a trade target. Even picks 10 and 20 even if possible aren’t the most alluring picks we could do better next year or the year after if petty stays fit and counties to improve.
  2. Billings is the definition of an almost player, almost kicked the goal, almost won the game. If things clicked he would be a great pickup but would anything change if he played for us.
  3. Nope he has the talent but not the commitment to be a professional sports person. We already have Spargo and Chandler who I much prefer over him
  4. Sure but I don’t think even in dogs worst fear they would end up with a pick 4 next season so they are effectively paying next years 1st and alate 1st round this year for pick 4
  5. Well it’s 2 for 1 since they have a father son they want to get a pick before, if they wait till pick 10 they probably have to use it already. So they can afford to pay overs
  6. Just needs time and to stay together. But our hand might be forced, If we had to trade Oliver, Larkey and Pick 2 from north or King and Pick 4 as starting points would be the only options I’d consider. McKay has to many flaws I’d not want to give what blues would demand
  7. We have 2 years to find a replacement if he won’t sign an extension by end of next, by then JVR and Jefferson should be our 1-2 and it’s just matter of finding a Steven May replacement
  8. So we lost to pies with bad kicking by 7 points, Gus getting knocked out and a fwd line tapped together and some how we are out of the window, pull another one. A few less injuries and some further development and maybe a smart trade and we are more than in the hunt
  9. I’d feel much better if we were doing something towards improving our list. At an absolute best this is status quo
  10. Other than a feel good story not sure this helps, 32 yo fringe player coming off an acl trying to get into the side late next year at best. People already worried about Tmac and Ben Brown taking up spots on the list this will be a 3rd player who is unlikely to have any impact next year
  11. A few small things different and that could be us today, if we just played smarter there is no doubt we are the best team out there. Hopefully this motivates the group for next year definitely one left on the table.
  12. Only 22 so has plenty of upside just needs to be played on the ball more that’s always where he looks best. Not sure the swans will be any easier to break into than dees. Might have been better off going to a weaker team like wc or north where he could cement a spot
  13. They were both key to winning the flag in 2021, maybe brown doesn’t come over if we offer less and we never win a flag, who cares if they go a year long, what players are we missing out on anyway. It would have just been speculative late picks or rejects from another team anyway. There is no million dollar free agent we could have got instead. Same thing with Grundy people act like we had some other better option last year. Id say we actually have fantastic list management we haven’t lost a single player in as long as I can recall to cap issues. The fact we have the space to take these chances is a good thing
  14. Did some numbers on votes vs top 8 sides some interesting outcomes Neale 14 votes in 10 games Bont 9 in 10 Daicos 6 in 9 that he played (polled in just 2 games) Trac 12 in 10 Bont given dogs lost a lot vs top 8 that’s not bad for him but Daicos really loads up vs the weaker teams and really stuggled vs top 8 sides while Neale played better vs top 8. Might be something to keep an eye on in the grand final.
  15. GWS doing what we couldn’t moving the ball quick and to an open fwd line, out slowness let pies setup every time
  16. After another disappointing end to the year where we fall short again where is the improvement coming from to take the next step or do you think we still have the list to win the flag and just got unlucky with injuries. Oliver getting back late in the year seemed to unsettle the midfield, Fritsch looking NQR for the finals, Petty and Melksham going down, JVR getting suspended and don’t forget Brayshaw. Was it all too much in the end despite some brave efforts. How long do May and Gawn have left at there current output and what does life look like post them and is the cliff coming sooner than we expect. Love to here your thoughts
  17. Sure this might be the best option based on where our list is at, but Goodwin needs to take responsibility that we find ourself in this position. Early in the season we were a much more accurate side when players were still fresh, as the season wore on and players become fatigued our accuracy become less and less. I’ll use Petrcca as an example if we made him a fwd of centre player only and didn’t have him going the full press all game as a true mid he might start kicking a few more goals, making some smarter decisions with kicks into 50. The fact we rely largely on the same core players to play 90% game time at the contest isn’t sustainable.
  18. Sure not every miss but the in the totality of the season we see the same patterns again and again. It’s never one miss or bad decision that’s costs the game really it’s the 20 others put together. We kick 17.9 and everyone would be having a laugh at max missing
  19. We don’t draft good kicks, our game plan means we don’t get easy shots on goal often, the way we play means players more gassed when taking shots meaning less accuracy, all things he has control over. If it was a freak occurrence in a single game I would agree it’s not his fault but this happens to often to be luck and if it continues to cost us at the deep end of the season he should be held to account
  20. Wasted in that we shouldn’t go out in straight sets but don’t think either this or last year we were the best side. I don’t think a flag has been left on the table
  21. They didn’t neither was able to lock a spot in the 22, Bedford was behind Pickett and. Spargo. Chandler was behind Bedford. The only time Bedford got a good run was when Pickett was out. He was to good for VFL and we had no spot for him
  22. No draft picks are likely to help in the near term, if we want to win with the list we have right now we must trade for a key fwd. The other choice is to draft best available trade for players on the cheap and accept we probably just aren’t good enough right now but happy to play finals for years to come not unlike cats the last decade. I’d vote for the latter over risking it all to maybe get 1 more now.
  23. Wouldn’t have won next week anyway
  24. I must be the only one here who didn’t rate Hibbos game last week, Elliott showed Hibbo was lacking in pace and as a result we had to adjust our defence to stop pies exploiting it. I don’t think we will be seeing him again regardless of if we win this week
