Big difference between saying we need to get better and bagging your own team. The way Oliver said it is the latter. If Oliver simply said how great it would be to play with whoever from gws or how he likes the vibe up there or whatever positive thing he could say about gws it would be fine, instead he essentially said as long as they aren’t Melbourne that’s what matters.

Still very poor form to put down the club that’s hes played his whole career at, I don’t recall any other player saying anything like what when asked the same question, if they say anything about there old club its usually complimentary even if they are just blowing smoke. He could have said any number of things without putting the Dee’s down

Regardless of what Lamb said here it’s clear Oliver seems to have little regard for the club based on his own words these last few days and it’s best for us and probably Oliver to if he moved on. Think the main goal with both Oliver and Trac should be getting a ready to go young talented player in and high end draft pick in the 1-4 range from either tigers or wc. If that’s net of all this at least we can move fwd without being to sour on the whole thing

Dee’s need to stand firm here, we don’t want picks and in particular we don’t want this year, 7 and 8 likely become 11 and 12 in this draft which isn’t all that strong to begin with, unless wc will give us pick 1 or 2 we need to stand firm, if Humphrey or a similarly good player is off limits then trac isn’t on the table

If Flanders cost saints pick 7 then trac is worth twice that, 7 can’t be the main component to this trade or the club has failed to deliver on there promise to trade trac only if the offer was compelling

Could try turn 6 and 7 into pick 1 or 2 even in a weaker draft that’s still going to be a good player, think there is a ruck / fwd in the first few but this time he’s from vic

Now that gc has pick 7 from saints and they also say Humphreys is untradable do we say ok 6 and 7 then, which would compromise there ability to draft there academy picks this year and see which way they swing, get the feeling with so many high end academy players they aren’t going to miss him

Time to see if dees stick to there guns of only letting trac go on our terms, without Humphrey hard to see how they can live up to those words

How many players get back to there best post 30, even Dangerfield who would be the best case outcome for trac didn’t make another all Australian after 30 and he was coming from a higher peak, yes he was a match winner from time to time still but he was lesser and on the decline. Trac is coming from further back so unless he can pull a Benjamin button we have likely already seen the best from him.

Agree to disagree, danger was coming off 7 all Australians from the last 8 years and a Brownlow medal winner and was widely considered the best player in the afl with Dustin Martin, trac just like Kennedy at the time is 2 years out from his last all Australian and past his prime. Danger is in a league Trac dreams he was in. I’ll be happy if we swing it that’s for sure as I rate Humphrys potential just as high as trac at the same stage of his career

We aren’t getting 12 unless we picked up his entire contract, 32 or 34 or a future 2nd round is more in line with us paying a smaller portion of his contract. Dogs effectively paid 14 for Adam Trelour in 2020 in similar circumstances but he was held in much higher regard at the time

yes we set the price but unless they are mentally challenged it’s a dumb deal, they are still a very young side who just made finals for the first time, imagine someone asked Dee’s to trade out trac after 2018 for Josh Kennedy from swans at the time and pay a pick on top to boot

Humphrey has the potential to be what trac was in the next few years, no chance gc give him up even for trac

The thing that doesn’t line up for me is if Oliver isn’t in the 22 under King who is replacing him, I don’t think Sparrow is ahead of him, Rivers didn’t inspire when given the chance this year either. Langford would eventually but he will just be entering his 2nd year. So regardless of if he says or goes it feels like a step backwards at least in the short term and if trac goes as well that leaves 2 slots open

I think this is a bit different, just like with Steven May Oliver is being told to look at his options elsewhere

We finished 14th something had to give, we want to keep trac but he wants out so we just have to deal with that best as we can, Oliver was happy to stay but we want him out so it’s the opposite way round. I just hope if we are telling Oliver this that we have lined up a deal with another club because no one is going take Oliver from us unless we tip in a significant portion of his salary

If Oliver has been called into a meeting to be given bad news sounds like they have a deal with another club on the table and he’s been told take the trade or you won’t have a spot next year

I just hope we go in with the attitude that we are willing to do no deal and let anyone interested come back next year and try again if we don’t get what we want

Not the worst trade, rachele has a high ceiling and kicks goals, I can imagine him and Pickett both rotating through the mid

Fast fwd 2 years and Viney and Gawn will be gone, that leaves us with a mid of Oliver? Pickett, Langford, Windsor and Lindsey and unknown ruck, even if the kids work out it doesn’t seem like a contenders midfield bottom half of the 8 in a best case

I agree but everyone else looking at the downside, of omg he’s 30 which means he’s over the hill and only a few years left, a poor kick and won’t ever get back to his pre injury form
