Farewell Judd McVee
Why are people making up stories in there head the Mcvee walked because King wouldn’t play him in the middle, we have no idea what went on in there meeting but I highly doubt King would have said any such thing, sport is one thing that is mostly merit based and I’d be disappointed if the message wasn’t if it was even asked was simply to you prove himself and it’s yours to get.

Bummer he won’t be easy to replace and doubt we are getting a good pick back either

Given gc can’t use pick 6 given there academy bids come before then from there pov it would just be trac for Flanders with is a no brainer for them
-
Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Well at least this gc rumour has more logic to it than the crows one just purely based on what they have to offer in return. If the offer was Sam Flanders and pick 6 then we have something to discuss

Cashing out only works if you are paid, even if you are correct and we need to rebuild what they are offering is unlikely to help, we need high end picks inside 5 not end of first round where it becomes speculative. If Dangerfield is any comparison trac still had 5-6 good years left, would you be advising blues to trade out Cripps for the same deal as they are essentially in the same boat as us.

And why do we need to salary dump we aren’t in a situation where we need to move players on or be in breach of the cap like pies a few years back. If we have managed our payments well and can afford to keep him then it shouldn’t matter what he is paid.

Problem is crows first this year and next probably only unlocks Flanders, no way would the Dee’s be doing a deal that ends up as basically a swamp of trac for Flanders. So question is how do crows get more capital I just don’t see how

What do we get out of a package pick of 10-15, another mid range rookie or 2, why wouldn’t you just hold onto trac then? People are acting like we have no choice but to dump him for some reason, the fact that even Essendon is scoffing at pick 8 for Merrett when they have less bargaining power and a worse player tells you any deal less than that is just fantasy by whoever is offering. When you watch Dangerfield doing what he did the other night at age 35 should tell you trac potentially has many elite years left and any deal needs to reflect that

Pick 14 this year becomes something like 20, plus this years draft is quite weak as well. Even if you add future first that’s unlikely to be any better. I’d be accepting a starting pick of no worse than top 5 this year plus something equal next year. If crows can do that than we can pickup the phone

Sad that it might end like this but if we are being honest he’s probably not in the best 22 if everyone is fit. I wouldn’t rule him out either it’s quite clear he has played under duress for a while now and if he could get 100% he could still be in the side.

Well it’s a fair point the media always fail to answer when talking about such trades and why contracted players who have value rarely are able to be traded unless the club is actively pushing them to go ie Grundy

Good pickup and exactly what a team like cats does and everyone would call them geniuses when it kept them in the hunt. He’s a free agent so he would cost us nothing other than cap space so unless he is costing us the world I don’t see a downside

Unless you are able to bring in that another A grade player to replace trac it’s still a net loss, pies completely botched there salary cap and had no choice and then got very lucky they landed on there feet by getting a generational player for nothing in daicos. We are under no such cap pressure so far as I’m aware and have no daicos in the pipe line either, all we would be doing is freeing up cap space and weakening our list for no reason. There is no reason we need to offload trac in advance of sounding out other players.

The problem is unless we are lucky with who wants him the trade it will be very one sided if you were to allow it, if it’s picks we would want to start with a top 5 pick and go from there which essentially limits you to WC, Richmond and Essendon none of whom would be interested I’d assume. In a player swap who is going to give an equally good player back when it’s essentially a net zero gain unless the player is already wanting out, and there is only 2 of those we know of in the market anyway in Merrett and Charlie Curnow. I think the reality is we are going to need to back in the new coach to get trac back to his best

After least year Morris is being a little more cautious in this reporting, all the same issues that prevented a trade least year still exist and just like we see with Merrett and Charlie the mechanics to get one of these big trades off the ground makes it to hard to get a deal done

Anyone know if he starts immediately or will he finish the year at the cats- Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Not sure what his style is but I’m looking forward to finding out- Rumours
Seems overs to me, our 2026 first round is more than likely a top 10 pick and possibly in the 1-4 range. As for Koltyn you are effectively giving him up for nothing. Think you would get much better price by splitting them up if that’s the way to go- Marcus Windhager
Least this is a player who is somewhat proven, I’d put him like melksham, Hibberd or Langdon when we picked them up, issue since 2021 is we have only targeted players that aren’t even playing senior football (Grundy excluded)- Marcus Windhager
We need what we can get, we are wanting in all parts of the ground for quality players- The Greatest Demon of All Time?
Hard to put players against other players from vastly different eras but he certainly stacks up against anyone you would care to put him against, the fact he is so respected by the entire football world says as much, never in my lifetime has someone from Melbourne had that level of respect in the broader football world, Barass is the only one that comes to mind but I never saw him play.- Steven May
May will be in the oldest dozen players in the AFL by the time next season starts, safe to say any physical issues he has this year will not improve and only continue to get worse. As much as I love what May did in our premiership year it’s clear he is starting to become a liability on field (statistically the worst 1v1 defender in the afl this year) , I think we can move past him next year and not miss a beat. Not even considering his off field issues and personality clashes too.- PODCAST: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
More a question about our whole season than this game specifically, we went 0 and 5 in games decided by a goal or under, if we went 5 and 0 we finish on 12 wins and a positive win loss record. Are we just unlucky or is this just a result of our general lack of skills under pressure when compared to other teams and something that will persist until this can be rectified.- POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
That makes it 5 games lost by a goal or less and 0 won, not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, either we are only a few small changes from turning things round to some degree or we are a team that goes to water when the pressure is on. - Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
