  1. Don't know what I'd do without you. Thanks
  2. He and his Dad Nick are rusted on Hawks. His Dad inherited The House of Golf business. Anyone remember The House of Golf ad 10 years ago when a skinny blond bloke was looking up from a deep bunker ? His Dad. The ad was played on loop. My Boy played at East Malvern Knights with Bailey when he was about 8. Even then Bailey was fast and strong. Although I thought his skills lacked a bit of polish. I'm probably a hard marker. I reckon an interstate club should be nervous about taking Smith. Who knows when, but I reckon he's a monty to come back at some stage. Probably to his beloved Hawks.
  3. I don't mean to offend, but reading Frost on a wing suggestions is the ultimate *facepalm moment for me. He's a behind the ball player and that's it. He doesn't have the smarts or skills to play anywhere else.
  4. I don't think our midfield will have the maturity to get us across the line in 2019. 2020 on-wards for me.
  5. Gold Coast will win at least 2 games, more likely 3.
  6. There's no way May goes no.1 this year. I rate him highly and think our team/list is more balanced with May over Hogan, but he wouldn't go near no.1.
  7. Firstly, I doubt anyone here needs a history lesson on the 2 win/54% 2013 team. And secondly, it was still the wrong decision. Kelly was very good from the outset.
  8. No mate, this isn't "hindsight". We all knew how good Kelly was, although some mistakenly thought he was soft. It was written up straight away in the media that we'd stuffed up. That said, I jumped on the Tyson/Salem deal as you want to trust the club. Kelly was as smooth as Egyptian cotton. My Brother and I were dead keen months out.
  9. In hindsight. At the time most thought Carlton had overreached taking Cripps where they did.
  10. However you want to slice it or dice it we made a mistake. Taking Billings would have been just another blunder. I know why we did it, but we should have kept pick 2 and taken Kelly. It is what it is.
  11. It's watching him at training, at Casey and at AFL level. It comes to me a bit quicker, chap. I grew up with the game.
  12. The main difference between Townsend and Bugg ? One is as hard as a cat's head and the other as soft as butter. Townsend will have low disposal numbers due to the way he was played, which was as an undersized second marking tall who played with pressure and made the most of low scoring opportunities. He's also a very accurate shot at (not on) goal. Do we need him ? Doubtful. I'd have him as depth, but he won't want that. He wants AFL game time.
  13. I agree @Fifty-5. The ball is in Jones' court. He's been pushed out of the midfield, so his challenge is to show his worth in a new role. He's safe for 2019. Beyond that I'm not so sure. But it's up to him.
  14. Seriously tough. He was great in the 2017 Casey losing grand final. Lacks too much polish for me at AFL level, but he's handy depth.
  15. Oscar is a little bit taller and surer than Frost. He's less prone to a brain fade. He plays more to his limitations. Steven May has many of the attacking attributes of Frost. Frost stood up at the end of the year, but in choosing a collective six for 2019 I see Oscar's skillset as more complementary.
  16. You (and others) talk of "culture and mindset" yet many of you wanted to keep Watts. A quarter-dedicated joker. Learn to analyse what actually happens on a footy field. The game gives up its secrets if you watch carefully enough without rose coloured glasses. It's a harsh game and it's very easy to detect those who give half-hearted efforts. Much easier if you're at the game rather than watching on TV.
  17. He also played very well against the Giants in round 23 and was good against West Coast in round 22. Weideman averaged the 11th most contested marks for the season for players with at least 10 games. It might not be enough for you, but it's enough for me. He's 21 and miles off his peak. His upside is enormous.
  18. Off the ball scuffles or the odd tackle don't demonstrate much. Put vandenBerg, Viney, or Oliver 2 metres from a loose ball, equal distance apart and win that footy. That tells me if you're tough. You usually don't go pick 2 unless you can play, so I'm more than happy to reunite them if he's good enough.
  19. Unlike Melbourne of the past, how about we forget others crap.
  20. I always thought Angus was a really hard at the body player from the get go and don't recall any moments of hesitation. But I could be wrong.
  21. I saw when you posted it. You tend to become fixated with a view based on a small body of evidence. You then run with it as fact. When you have a large body of material to work with I reckon you nail it better than most.
  22. Yeah, nah. We targeted May, because we had a weakness in the backline that kind Freddy could see. Mahoney acknowledged this in his SEN interview. Our 2019 backline (when Lever's back) will be the best I've seen following the Dees (memory early 70s). Let's give it a go, shall we.
  23. I've twice seen Andrew squib incidents this year, but he's a first year player, so you cut him slack. One was a really bad moment. He may turn out to be a star but I didn't see a lot to be overly enthused by. Cerra on the other hand...
  24. You overthink things.
  25. Incorrect. It has since come out that Hogan said in his exit interview he was hoping to explore the option of returning home. He then had a coffee with Goodwin a week, or so, later and they both agreed to try and make it happen. These facts are at odds with the poster in questions assertions.
