  1. I agree @Fifty-5. The ball is in Jones' court. He's been pushed out of the midfield, so his challenge is to show his worth in a new role. He's safe for 2019. Beyond that I'm not so sure. But it's up to him.
  2. Seriously tough. He was great in the 2017 Casey losing grand final. Lacks too much polish for me at AFL level, but he's handy depth.
  3. Oscar is a little bit taller and surer than Frost. He's less prone to a brain fade. He plays more to his limitations. Steven May has many of the attacking attributes of Frost. Frost stood up at the end of the year, but in choosing a collective six for 2019 I see Oscar's skillset as more complementary.
  4. You (and others) talk of "culture and mindset" yet many of you wanted to keep Watts. A quarter-dedicated joker. Learn to analyse what actually happens on a footy field. The game gives up its secrets if you watch carefully enough without rose coloured glasses. It's a harsh game and it's very easy to detect those who give half-hearted efforts. Much easier if you're at the game rather than watching on TV.
  5. He also played very well against the Giants in round 23 and was good against West Coast in round 22. Weideman averaged the 11th most contested marks for the season for players with at least 10 games. It might not be enough for you, but it's enough for me. He's 21 and miles off his peak. His upside is enormous.
  6. Off the ball scuffles or the odd tackle don't demonstrate much. Put vandenBerg, Viney, or Oliver 2 metres from a loose ball, equal distance apart and win that footy. That tells me if you're tough. You usually don't go pick 2 unless you can play, so I'm more than happy to reunite them if he's good enough.
  7. Unlike Melbourne of the past, how about we forget others crap.
  8. I always thought Angus was a really hard at the body player from the get go and don't recall any moments of hesitation. But I could be wrong.
  9. I saw when you posted it. You tend to become fixated with a view based on a small body of evidence. You then run with it as fact. When you have a large body of material to work with I reckon you nail it better than most.
  10. Yeah, nah. We targeted May, because we had a weakness in the backline that kind Freddy could see. Mahoney acknowledged this in his SEN interview. Our 2019 backline (when Lever's back) will be the best I've seen following the Dees (memory early 70s). Let's give it a go, shall we.
  11. I've twice seen Andrew squib incidents this year, but he's a first year player, so you cut him slack. One was a really bad moment. He may turn out to be a star but I didn't see a lot to be overly enthused by. Cerra on the other hand...
  12. You overthink things.
  13. Incorrect. It has since come out that Hogan said in his exit interview he was hoping to explore the option of returning home. He then had a coffee with Goodwin a week, or so, later and they both agreed to try and make it happen. These facts are at odds with the poster in questions assertions.
  14. I heard Viney say it on one of those gameday footy shows when they replayed his tackle on him. I have no reason to doubt him, but by all means you're welcome to try and prove it wrong.
  15. The stat I really liked was in his second year and pre injury issues he averaged the most metres gained for the Suns and 13th most in the competition. It's just the player we need.
  16. Kennedy-Harris was great in the wet and his clean hands when others fumbled a standout, but he's hardly ever shown he's this incredible crumber. Certainly not at AFL level, where he's better up the ground than in the forward line.
  17. I'd hardly say Kennedy-Harris is "as natural crumbing forward as you'll see". Knightmare is ok, but there are better out there.
  18. It's peanuts like you who would have carried on like a stuck pig when we gave up pick 3 and slid pick 13 to 20 when he was an unproven 17 year old. You would have been beside yourself and carrying on like a pork chop. You, and your like, are the great spectators who never have anything on the line. How easy it is.
  19. Weller and Viney are close childhood friends. But we don't need him.
  20. Mahoney on Kolodjashnij: “We are confident his concussion issues are over and we have seen our own success with that with Angus Brayshaw and Neville Jetta who have had concussion issues over the last couple years.” “We are confident with that. Through our midfield, we think we need more run, we need someone who can play a legitimate role on the wing and halfback." “Our recruiting team loved Kade when he got drafted five years ago and to be able to bring him in, we know he can play those positions. “We think he is a really good addition for us in the midfield.”
  21. Only one Carlton player remonstrated. And it was a half-hearted token effort.
  22. I don't think missing an entire year (bar one game) with back issues helped Hogan's development though. He was just a gun straight off, as his B&F from 11 completed games as an 18 year old for Casey showed.
  23. He's 190cm and they see him as a wing/half-back runner with his accurate left foot. Mahoney said this morning he'll become part of the midfield rotation.
  24. Fantastic. And just the type you want to run on to a ground with. We're building a seriously tough team.
  25. What a rubbish post.
