Did you "call" for Hunt's delisting ?
-
He didn't answer the question, Your Honour.
-
Internally, I have no doubt he made the types of comments and showed the sort of leadership you (and I) would have hoped for. Externally, he handled things exactly the way I wanted.

It's funny how people see things differently. I loved his response. I was thinking "don't sit there and apologise for your actions to a fat slob who has no idea what's it's like on an AFL footy field". Lewis did the crime and he'll cop his right whack, but he didn't need to grovel for forgiveness to placate armchair critics. I want a hard edge at this club and I'm starting to see it. They haven't got the balance right in the first couple of rounds, so hopefully they'll start treading the right side of that fine line. Never complain and never explain.

I don't think taking the AA ruckman out of the ruck is a great move. Although Geelong would be laughing. I also don't think Gawn or Spencer are great 4 quarter key forward options.
-
I'm sure he likes you too.

It's pretty widely known that the players love Goody, but Hogan and "some" others couldn't stand Roos. He's done his job at the Dees. If he coaches he coaches. Good luck to him.

Content ideas: 5 worst on ground from previous game Mark of the day Courageous act of the day Selection thoughts for upcoming round Injury updates - rehab group, i.e. starting to join main group, etc. AFL talking points of the week Suspended posters updates I haven't listened, so I'm not sure if those types of issues are relevant.

I hasten to add that I'm not potting Spencer and in fact think he'd be a more than OK replacement for Gawn if he went down. It's just that I don't think two "first rucks" makes us better.

I never take too much notice of one off games with little other evidence to support a concept. Spencer played the next game against West Coast and then was subsequently dropped for the next 7 weeks before making one further appearance, which happens to be the last game he's played for the club. But yes, Hogan had come back in so Spencer became redundant. And Gawn took his chance. My biggest issue is that Spencer is a liability as a key forward. I'm not interested in the JLT as evidence Spencer could work, because it's nothing more than a light intensity practice match. Spencer is a first ruck, not a ruck/forward or forward/ruck. He's a hopeless key forward. I also don't like Gawn spending too many minutes as a key forward option either, because he's far better kicking goals from the ruck rather than working out from the goal square as a resting forward. Sorry Webber, Spencer won't be selected.

Reported on 3AW tonight that Carlton submitted a report to the AFL re Rowe's postmatch headaches. Carlton dogged on us. A club I genuinely hate.

Play Petracca out of FF alongside Weideman. Lower the eyes with a small leading forward-line and make sure Watts and Weideman contest any long balls for spills to Garlett, etc. Watts has been asked by Goodwin to compete in the air, so put the heat on him to play his role and contest high balls. If he does we'll have 2 x 196cm talls plus Hannan at 189cm, Petracca leading out of the square, Kent back in, Garlett and any other rotations. A versatile and unpredictable forward-line. I'd much rather that setup than bringing in Spencer and I'm not fussed about bringing Pedersen in either.

I'm surprised with the Hogan penalty. I thought it would fall under careless instead of intentional. Careless in that he was pushing him off without really looking at him and not intentionally hitting him in the head. I also thought it would be low impact instead of medium. Some of the hits deemed low impact last year make this decision a bit bewildering to me. But, it is what it is.

Madness. Goody aint mad.

There's not a hope in hell Spencer comes in for Hogan.

You have a very good memory.

I agree entirely. Where he gets the footy there will always be the odd mistake, but his smarts and clean hands are almost unparalleled. He had 4 clangers yesterday, Dangerfield had 6, Wines 5, Pendlebury 5, and O'Meara 9. I'm not fond of the DE% stat, but he went at 80, while some others with similar numbers were well below. Tom Mitchell 63, Dangerfield 62, Tyson 62, Treloar 65, Gaff 63, Pendlebury 72. There were a few close to his mark. After 15 games he still has a lot to learn, but we have an incredible ball magnet and young bull on our hands.

We're still young and inexperienced, but our list isn't the youngest or least experienced. Game day stats change weekly and for round 2 we were the youngest and second least experienced behind only Gold Coast. Draft Guru is a good site for the breakdowns. https://www.draftguru.com.au/

It's worth noting that Geelong lost to Carlton last year by 19 points. They went on to play in a preliminary final. Sometimes you just have to get over the line in these types of games. We did and last year Geelong didn't.

All that tells me is that Brayshaw gets 60% more contested possessions than Toumpas, which was the reason Toumpas left the club. Brayshaw is having to play in starvation corner. Unfortunately, that's his go at the moment because others are ahead in the midfield. I liked his game last week, but this was a poor one. I think Brayshaw will become an exceptional midfielder after his apprenticeship is finished.

Sometimes these wins are the making of a club. When another club knows they can beat you and you know they can beat you it's not easy to come out on top if they're in the game for long enough. I didn't want them to kick more than 10 goals and they kicked 9. I wanted to score more than 100 points and we didn't = X Our game-plan and ball movement is still a work in progress. Fact: we were younger and less experienced than them Fact: we we the youngest team of the 18 in round 2 Fact: we were the second least experienced from a games played perspective to Gold Coast Fact: we had 12 players with less than 50 games. No other club in the round had more than 10

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
Gator replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Petracca is yet to have a break out game, but you just feel it's around the corner. -
Being an MCC member I've never had a reserved seat and just assumed it would be a season membership.
-
How does one "cancel" a membership ?

I don't agree. Richmond conceded 14 goals to Carlton, which was poor. I'll be disappointed if we concede any more than 10. I also expect us to kick over 100 points. Dees by a minimum of 40 points.
