  1. Disagree. A post that lacks insight. He read the play well and made good decisions under the pressure of his first game. Goog handballs, good decisions, good reading of the play. He's a nice mover and will be a very good player by the time he's 23.
  2. He's very brave in the air and will crash packs when he gets bigger, but it's not "all he has". You either didn't see or have forgotten his first game against Hawthorn in round 20 last year. Some of his linking handballs up the ground were excellent and showed that his ground skills and decision making were very good. He had 11 handballs that day. Saying "he's only got" when you have such a small sample size for a very young key forward is close minded. I think he'll have a nicely rounded game.
  3. It's a new group. I'm not much interested in "historically". Historically we've been cr@p.
  4. Firstly, 17 disposals for a key defender is very good, and secondly, how he defended and played his role would be of far more interest to the coaching group than his disposal tally.
  5. Horror draw ? There's hardly a decent side in the AFL and certainly no-one I fear. We may lose to Adelaide in Adelaide, but I put them in the category of winnable games. There's not a side I don't think we can beat on our day.
  6. Here's the HS list just last december. They confirm the AFL figure. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/more-news/where-does-your-afl-club-sit-on-the-2017-membership-ladder/news-story/af5e628b5f613239b24dca9e179fbf9d I think George's figure is likely wrong and that we've now passed last year's record.
  7. No, we've now passed last year by 2. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-08-25/hawks-overtake-pies-to-top-membership-ladder
  8. I look forward to your search and subsequent report.
  9. Within 141 of last year's record final total.
  10. Good God ! How did you know ?
  11. It's a good point you touch on. If the Hawks win 5 or less games this year I'd expect prime time to be off the table. I'll eagerly await next year's fixture.
  12. I thought Goody had pulled the wrong rein with him over the preseason ?
  13. It's sort of hollow celebrating their demise. You want to, but deep down those 4 flags in 8 years don't give you much reason to.
  14. Firstly, I don't take any notice of a mature Pedersen at VFL level. Secondly, I watched all of the second half on youtube. Just a game. Thirdly, I've seen him plenty of times at AFL level and know what I get. Don't you know what you get ?

  16. Lost all confidence. Old and virtually bereft of young talent. 4 Flags. I'd take the flags.
  17. I'm OK if he's dropped. Just don't bring in Pedersen. Play a small forward-line.
  18. Prefer Weideman. Don't rate Pedersen. Not AFL quality. You must be racking your brain why he's not getting a game. Perhaps you're wrong.
  19. No, he's not. Weideman averaged 10.5 disposals, 3.5 marks, and 1.5 goals per game with Hogan in rounds 1 and 2. He also jumps at high balls better than Pedersen. I'd prefer Weideman. What will be will be. If Weideman is injured, I still wouldn't select Pedersen.
  20. I don't dislike Pedersen. He's just not the answer. Morton lots of talent, heart of a grape seed, which is hard to know from the outside.
  21. Even if Weideman is injured with a corky I wouldn't bring in Pedersen. Pedersen is so good the most goals he's kicked in a season at Melbourne is 14. Quick, rush him in...
  22. Why hasn't he been playing ? He doesn't compete in the air unless he has the sit. Even if Weideman is injured with a corky I wouldn't bring in Pedersen. Pedersen is so good the most goals he's kicked in a season at Melbourne is 14. Quick, rush him in...
  23. I've answered these astute insights in the game changes thread. But for the sake of repetition, Weideman averaged 10.5 disposals, 3.5 marks, and 1.5 goals in the two games Hogan played. Hogan is back. I'd much rather Weideman than the very average Pedersen, who has shown in his 61 AFL games that he's more a VFL player.
  24. When Hogan played in rounds 1 and 2 Weideman averaged 10.5 disposals, 3.5 marks and 1.5 goals. I'll take that with the structure he provides and the high balls he flies for. That's a 30 goal season on averages. Who wouldn't take that ? Since Hogan has been gone in rounds 3 and 4 those numbers have plummeted. He's far better when Hogan has the heat of the opposition and he's not the main key forward. Why drop him when he's carried the load and Hogan is about to come back ? As for Pedersen ? I don't rate him as an AFL key forward. He's done OK at times, but he's not the answer or the future. Pedersen has never kicked four goals in a game. He's played 61 of them. Forgive me if I don't see him as the answer. Seemingly, Goodwin doesn't either.
  25. In: Hogan, Hibberd Out: Hannan, Melksham
