  1. Some posters must subscribe to the view that Oliver's disposals are overrated, as many (most) don't include him in their votes. With 3 games left for the round he has the most contested possessions, most centre clearances, second most total clearances, and equal second most disposals. He gets us going with contested footy and clearances, and is pivotal to the hard run and spread. 6 Jones 5 Garlett 4 Oliver 3 Hibberd 2 Hannan 1 Melksham
  2. Exactly. He was dropped after round 3 when he was top 10 in the entire competition for 1%s.
  3. I prefer the ball in his hands far more than Lewis.
  4. Despite the glad-handlers enthusiasm i cannot unsee what I saw in the first half. It was utterly disgraceful. i like winning, so I'm naturally pleased for the 4 points and that we live to fight another day. And I also realise we'll have other efforts that mirror the Adelaide game. We have half a dozen players that are simply not good enough to take us where we need to go. I like Goody and have faith that the 'Vacancy' sign will soon be removed.
  5. It was important we got in front late in the third. In a couple of other games we've got close, or even, but not in front.
  6. If you had some more CAPS and exclamation marks I would have taken this post more seriously !!!
  7. He was high in that stat when he was dropped after round 3. If it was that important he wouldn't have been. We're getting games into him, but it's at the expense of performance and because we have no-one else.
  8. I'd love to see a gif of "that" Oliver handball.
  9. The positivity police have got to you Joeboy. One of your softer efforts.
  10. In all seriousness, we are no hope of winning a Grand Final with the McDonalds. Nil. Zilch. It's a major worry.
  11. One of the most unenjoyable wins I've seen. Ablett plays and we probably lose. A long way to go for this group.
  12. I don't usually post on a gameday thread, but I'm compelled to do so. Bugg and Wagner are bog ordinary. Jack Trengove must truly be the pits if he can't get a game ahead of Bugg. Billy must smell too. Tyson has no poise under pressure. Tom McDonald isn't a forward's a-hole. A couple of times mid game it's worked sending him forward, but Goodwin is a slow learner if he thought it was worth trialling in a second game. We used to be able to play some quality tempo footy, but that's now a distant past. Having the McDonald's and Frost as your key defenders is ulcer-inducing. We may come back and win this game, but we're a long way off being a quality football side. I get the feeling they dring their own bathwater down at the club and Macca is expert at stating our list is the manna from heaven, but one can't help but feel they're way too satisfied with what's around the corner. Forget the frigging corner and worry abou the next bloody contest.
  13. Im not. I'm building it on my eyes. A novel approach, I know.
  14. My observations on Mills have nothing to do with Melbourne. The link isn't even tenuous. As for Mills ? We bid on him, so I've been interested in him since he was drafted. The hype was very strong on this guy. While he's a neat player and nowhere near the finished product I don't see the superstar in the making that we were told was almost a fait accompli. Seemingly, many Sydney supporters agree, As for the "he's young, young players make mistake, don't judge young developing players too quickly, blah, etc, blah", yes, these types of comments appear millions of times daily around the world. It's easy to have this as your default position. Millions do it. And obviously there's often some truth to it. But right now I don't see the traits in Mills that scream he'll ever be a multiple AA superstar.
  15. You may disagree entirely, but Swans supporters are very disappointed in what they're seeing. I watch him closely and he's been exceptionally underwhelming. I'm not sure what you're watching. I can only conclude you're basing your assessment on potential and what you expect and not what you're viewing.
  16. I've thought this for a while, but the hype on Mills is misplaced. I wondered if Sydney supporters thought the same so went on to their "Autopsy" thread. This from one of their moderators, "Mills is honestly an average footballer. What the **** does everyone see?" He has 10 likes from fellow Swans supporters as I type. He looks nice, has courage, but goes under the radar as a very vanilla footballer. But he's still young and may well elevate his game to the A-grade status he has seemed destined for.
  17. He had to nail that goal. I too think he lacks a little bit of class. But he's a solid player. Not sure he'd make much of a difference to our team. Good point about Nathan's age @Wiseblood If Zac doesn't come at the end of this year he may not get another chance to play with his Brother.
  18. Yes, he said it on FoxFooty. Said our recruiters really rated Billings and that we would have selected him if we didn't do the deal with GWS. They were discussing Billing's improvement and it was on the back of his 5 goal 30 disposal game.
  19. There's one major flaw in your logic. Roos has confirmed that we would have drafted Billings and not Kelly. That in itself would have been an error, but it makes this discussion point moot.
  20. Port Adelaide bid pick 7 for Viney, which is why I said drafted or bid on. Dunstan is rubbish (even according to Saints supporters), Newnes is 24, so not "23 and under", Ross is also 24, Acres, Gresham and Steele will be very good, and the jury is most certainly out on fatty McCartin and Goddard. They have some good young players, but our top end young talent is far better. As for my "contradiction" ? I've never suggested you have to have a team full of top 10 picks to be successful, but if you're chock full of the right ones you're in superb shape.
