  1. Take a bow..... SIMON GODFREY! Shut down a brownlow medalist contender!
  2. Brown - Glimpses of old Carroll - Shut down tredrea Warnock - A learning curb Rivers - True MFC champion Bell - Good in patches Bruce - Injury clouded game Johnstone - Rounding into form? Petterd - Confidence, Class, Composure Moloney - Not at best McDonald - worked hard today Godfrey - SHUT DOWN BURGOYNE! Davey - Good in parts Pickett - 2007s biggest disaster Dunn - Still finding feet Miller - SHOCKING 4QTR EFFORT! Yze - Move down back?? Neitz - Sluggish yet useful Johnson - Clinched second ruck Bate - I TOLD YA! White - Much better game Jones - Shades of Judd Sylvia - Will get better The dees can take something away from this. Newton in for Miller and we should have a forward set up that will kick a score. It is worth a try!
  3. We might see chip frawley in red and blue over the next 4 weeks. Cant wait!
  4. Cj needs more of a go. In one week and out the next is not the way ot build form at an afl level. In all honestly, the following players may not be at the MFC next year: Fergo holland bizz ward brown CJ must be groomed to fill one of these back roles. Let him hang out to dry if he have to, he is a must play. If he fails after 3-4 weeks, then drop him. One game here and there is no way for him to build form. Great to see warnocks inclusion. He is another player tha needs afl gametime to be ready to fill a key role down back in 08.
  5. If Jamar performs this week i would still force him to play another game to get his confidence up. Jamar has been a MAJOR bust for us this year. I would go as far as saying that if he cannot recapture some of the talent he has displayed on a regular basis, the dees will be looking to spend on a ruckman come seasons end. Pressure is on him. I hope he does well.
  6. Neita has 1-3 seasons left in him. I would take a punt on this year and next, beyond that seems unlikely.
  7. Gardner did the right thing. he came out and made some big statements, which take the heat of the players and coach for a short while. Good to see him come out and bat for the club.
  8. Sad end for gasper. He should have been given a proper send off, chaired off by a winning team. He should have stayed in Sydney. Hats off to gasper, he was a true 90s gem. Well done on a good career Darren.
  9. Well done Trapper. I hope this milestone will help turn his season around.
  10. Nathan Caroll was a bum pick for freo, he turned out great after his fitness and injuries improved. WAY TOO EARLY to write off weetra.
  11. BLOODT PLEASED to hear that juice played well. He is surely in the mix for next week. A straight swap for garland. With wards injury, what is the average time spent out of the game with that type of injury?
  12. If he stays off the radar I am sure the dees will be able to pick him up with a F/s selection. Lets be honest, he isnt setting the under 19s on fire like hawkins did, so the scouts wont be all over him. Based on his season so far, i would say the dees could pick him up without too much comp.
  13. They may be shaking hands and having a laugh, but those who bleed red and blue (and there are many down at the club) will be dead inside. 0-5 will cut through the demon die hards. I can bet you $100 that brock mclean would have put his first though a wall after seeing this early slide.
  14. Brown - not a forward Carroll - good in parts P Johnson - learning backmans trade (will take time fellas!) C. Johnson - kept his spot (just) Rivers - best MFC defender Bate - nearly there, nearly Yze - so so performance Moloney - injured yet great Petterd - Gem debut game! Garland - not afl ready Johnstone - no longer elite Davey - rounding into form Pickett - a major concern Dunn - Good in parts Bell - hard tackles made Miller - forward, not back Godfrey - best 22 ATM Bruce - finding the footy White - Good, not dominant Sylvia - couldnt make impact Jamar - running out of chances McDonald - cant break out
  15. I though PJ playing back was as clear as day. Buckets is coming to the end of his career (chances are this year will be his last-will miss the big ugly fella) and someone will need to step into the fold asap. Fergo has been tried.....not happening. Rivo is far too valuable at CHB,and Carrol needs to go to the number one spearhead. The resting ruckman type forward needs attention, so PJ is the easy choice, as jamar cannot read the play coming into defence, and White loves to float around the middle and handball. I think PJ is a short term thing until the dees get a 200+cm defender. There is no secret the dees will take a broom though the current listed defenders at season end. on the list of gones will most likely include-bizz, fergo, holland, ward, wheatus. Pj will step in, and Warnock will be given his chance along with chip frawley. (pettard should move into the backline-he has the composure of a 100 game player)
  16. Ouch on Daniel Bell. I think you are being FAR TOO harsh on Bell. He is not the most skillful player, but his attack on the footy is great and he lays more tackles than the average backman. Dont forget the ball was wet and slippery making it harder to dispose of. Bell does take too long to dispose with pill, i will say that of him, but being a player you would like never to play again for the MFC is very harsh, and quite stupid. Off to the glue factory for Beamer?? He is far from the aaron hamill stages, and is QUITE a bit younger. Rest is the key for him, which he will get if melbourne dont win in the next few weeks. Beamer was one of our best EVEN carrying groin issues, IMAGINE how much of a key he will be when he is 100%. Wait for beamer, he will be worth the wait.
  17. Play the kids is the only option after a 0-5 start. The broom will no doubt be swept as season end, so positives must be found and the kids are those positives. As for danners, at best he would get a one year deal. To be fair to neale, we have not had anywhere near our best team on the paddock all season. It would be hard to coach as side that consists of many bit players. I am concerned about the people around danners, such as the midfield, defensive and offesnsive coaching specialists. There seems to be little cohesion between the assistants plans, and it is reflecting on the field. our fitness coach is another problem, he is apparmtly wonderful, yet many players have been struck down by injury. A change perhaps? PLAY THE KIDS, SEE HOW THEY FAIR!
  18. Oh well, back to the ol drawing board. I sat through the whole game. Some good things such as beamer and young ricky, but plenty of things to ponder also. Time to start thinking about next week. NOW ON TO THE WORLD CUP!!
  19. AND HOW GOOD WAS HE!!!!! I am putting my order in for a number 15 jumper! GET ON THE RICKY BANDWAGON!!! He was great tonight. We will get smashed by port next week, but i will be there just to see number 15 running around.
  20. Rodan was a risky pick, even at the late stages of the draft. I heard similar people talke about david teague when he was starring for carlton after being dumped from the roos. Teague is now a nobody. Rodan may be playing great footy, but there is a long way to go yet. Port were lucky. he is a good fit...for now.
  21. When I was a kid back in the late 80s early 90s, a roar on the back flank would always go up when Rodney grinter smacked some poor sods teeth out behind play. I loved grinter, he has harder than a male pornstars......
  22. Recruiting is good, but we have been unlucky. We have had many draft picks in the top 20 that have been busts overs the past 6-7 years. If luke molan had become a jonathan brown, and 426 had become a riewoldt, and steven armstrong had been a shane crawford then things would be different down at melbourne. Many of our picks just didnt come to fruition, and we are now paying for that with champion players in thier late 20, and champion players in their teens. We are missing champion players in the 23-24 year old bracket. Thankfully we have some good kids coming through, another few good draft years and we will be back on track. As for the coach.......i just want a flag. I thought danners could deliver, now i am not so sure. I am happy to see what cahnges the club brings at seasons end before chopping danners. A club with a no/new coach is not a good prospect when trying to land a judd or riewoldt on the trading table.
  23. I think it would be best to rest beamer regardless of the weather. He is not right. Trapper should play. I hope it buckets down with rain, less chance of us losing by 70 points!
  24. I think Hughesy would need a miracle to play in the red and blue this season. If ever there was a time, it would be now. He is on the road back from and injury, and by the time his form is ripe, the dees should have filled some of the gaping holes in their lineup, making selection for danny very unlikely. If the dees keep going along these lines, and finish bottom 4, the club will take the broom through some old wood, and rebuild some younger talent. That might be a good thing for Danny- age is on his side.
